So far 10+ bit colorspaces are only present in movie and game gimmicks.
>no UI elements that use 1.07bn color palette to avoid banding >no paint.exe to brush in more than 256 shades of a color >no normal cameras and image viewers to take and display 10+ bit wide gamut and hdr images
Such is the life in 2019

What will 256 do for you that 16 won't?

HDR is a meme. It's just a marketing ploy. There's not a single color in those 4K movies that a regular computer monitor can't display. That's why there aren't any "HDR" PC screens.

Gama color

Name three colors a PC monitor can't display that a HDR monitor can.
January 12, 2019 - 16:31
The color between #000000 and #000001.
Not that it matters much. All the ads for hdr lie, showing lower brightness and less saturation on the SDR display, which is just plain false.

HDR is a meme outside of the professional graphics world.
It'll always be shit until we move away from LCDs.

>desu I’ll be happy with just DCI-P3
You realise that this is analog color space? If you digitally represent the DCI-P3 gamut with just 8 bits per primary, you will get horrible banding.

Red is my monitor, a 2.5 year old 4K panel, green is sRGB. So shut the fuck up, retard.

>DCI-P3, or DCI/P3, is a common RGB color space for digital movie projection from the American film industry
January 12, 2019 - 18:25
wow, you really are retarded if you can't tell the difference between a color space based on chromacity coordinates and its bit depth representation?
