Please use your trip or my filter doesn't work
the fuck anyone doing using xfce without the b5 theme
Still need a bar, and inactive white icons need to blend in.
for a casual end user interested in minimalism, how does bsd compare to linux?
more like cya later edition *skurt
Fuck year, KDE.
good morning anons, just got up.
I'm just gonna give you the rundown on the differences from linux i've seen with bsd
It's not very minimal with it's kernel, it comes with working audio, automatically connects to wifi and has working brightness keys all without configuration.
doas > sudo, only requires one line to set it up
All the user installed stuff goes into /usr/local (even the /home is in /usr/home)
which is nice because you can tell what you installed and what was in the system originally.
pkg is a great package manager, has most stuff I want, if it's not in pkg it's probably in portage (compiles stuff from source)
X -configure always detects wrong drivers
Touchpad scrolling, at least on this thinkpad, is terrible compared to linux
Nobody seems to be able to correctly estimate my memory usage (As you can see in my screenshot w/ neofetch & htop)
But you wanna know why I chose BSD? cause I think the logo looks cool.
thanks. i appreciate the honesty.
do I install arch?
Don't ask for opinions, just fucking do what you want. Its all the same, distro politics dont matter
It's been a while boys.
>Its all the same, distro politics dont matter
no, not really.
>best mainstream support: ubuntu
>most professional: fedora
>most reliable: debian stable
>most adventurous: arch
>most configurable: gentoo
and so on.
glad to see another freebsd user
the biggest advantage for a desktop user is that it has an audio system that actually works and is not over-engineered like alsa
if you use freebsd and zfs then you will never worry about data loss and can back up the system easily even while running
do you use zfs? htop does not seems to calculate wired memory as being used, which is being used by zfs as arc cache
Yes I use zfs, don't know what it is but heard it was a good meme to use
LFS is arguably the most configurable.
I jumped into the void
I am a manchild
Writing your own programs from scratch off the bare kernel is
LFS is a special case.
What server, though?
netherwing
Interesting, I'd love to play TBC but grinding another character is not something I'm too keen on right now on a private server. Waiting for Classic.
What's the best DE?
X11
What bar is that? Looks comfy
The one I'm using
proof
wow so funny i can't
Interesting desktops
Looks like polybar
VS Code works in Freebsd?
what IDE you use?
Openbox is so comfy btw
Reporting in. R8/H8.
Pls teach me how to achieve this
>Pls
achieve what? changing wallpaper and background color? It's extremely easy to do, but for you, Achmed, it is impossible.
Post wallpaper
What browser, CSS, shell are you using?
#FFFFFF
what does it matter? the programs in the screenshot has no visible UI, so it can be any browser or terminal. Same goes for the shell.
Wallpaper?
Ryzen 7/1700 has an overclock, 3.7GHz.
RAM is 2133, now at 2400.

n word edition
isac back at it again with the classic win7
wait I’m retarded gtg
What is that font ? Seems cute.
First ever loonix install, still getting the hang of things.
Might try Ubuntu next to see how it compares.
>overwatch is trash
Cool meme. S76 letting us all down?
This is probably some crappy browser like Epiphany and a GTK theme.
The most tedious task is to build a theme, which is basically CSS, which you could get out of SASS or whatever you prefer.
Nothing special. Just tedious work. Some people like it, some don't. For me personally Solarized Dark is good enough, while I am incapable to create such a color palette.
xp looked way better than 7 ever did
Come on, fucko, creating a GTK them is nothing special - tedious and boring task. You are grossly overestimating your level of snowflakery
go home Achmed, you're drunk.
are they fucking serious
First rice, should I get rid of the bottom bar or nah?
depends if you need these infos or not
in any case I'd make it autohide because your screen is tiny
you should get rid of one, either top or the bottom one, but since you ask about the bottom one, yeah, get rid of it.
Ugly
I like this, it feels like classic Mac OS.

Redpill me on budgie. Why is it better than gnome or cinnamon?
Love it, what font?
They claim it runs a bit faster. Has a proper application launcher as opposed to gnomes fullscreens bullshit. I like how easily customizable the taskbar is as well.
I hope they keep working on it.
