I`m mostly a gamer.
~ 80% of my steam library working with proton at a satisfactory 60 fps. Most of the other software I use works better under Linux with more stability. Updates take at most five mins with no problems afterwards.

I feel sorry for anyone learning and locking themselves into proprietary software.
I've first started 3d modeling with 3DS Max back in the day when it was still "one of the best" on the market. Back then I got into GNU/Linux and changed to blender.
Oh boy am I happy that I made that decision when I first started. Blender is now even better than 3DS Max and will continue to be improved while 3DS Max fades into obscurity.
Blender is even going to be getting the features that Houdini (current state of the art 3D modeling software) has.
GIMP has also tremendously improved over the last few years and video editing with KDEnlive has gotten a lot better as well.
