It is objectively better in every way. The shills are those still pushing dead resolutions like 1080 and 1440 in 2019.

>LOOK AT ALL OF THESE PIXELS BRO WOOOOW
>meanwhile the most common refresh rate is 60hz
fuck TV and monitor manufacturers

>using an aspect ratio that isnt 4:3 or 16:10

kys

we are going to need big monitors for that.

21:9, 16:10, 16:9 and 3:2 are all better than 4:3

>I cry about technology because I'm poor

8K actually matters though.

You have to remember that the whole point of all these res bumps is to slowly crawl to simulate what real life looks like. However this also means we have to crank up the FPS up to at least around 90 and response time to infinitely 0 to be able to do that all while having very high resolutions.

However I think 4K VR headsets will render TVs obsolete long before we have to go that far.

>higher resolution is bad

sorry wut.

Even if there were no perceptible increase in picture quality compared to 4k (and there is). I'd still want 8k to come simply due to progress for progresses sake.

No reason to stop advancing tech because meh, it's good enough 4 me.

i've got a retina macbook. is it 8 K ?

and every time someone says this time, I remind them that this style of formatting existed on Jow Forums long before reddit was even a website.

You can go back and check Jow Forums post history if you're truly ignorant enough to believe otherwise.

It's about production and efficiency. we're only just now seeing affordable 144hz 1440p monitors. And 4k 144hz is unaffordable to most people in monitor form let alone having the GPU power to run it.

It's makes a bit difference when you can get a GPU and monitor combo for 1440p 144hz for 900$ when 4k 60hz in 2019 is still 900$ and barely any real 144hz 4k is easily 1200$+ just for monitor and gpuz and that's IF the game optimization can support SLI etc.

It makes no sense to shill 8k when 4k isn't easily available or reliable.

>t. one eyed mutant

8K will be meaningless to graphical fidelity to 99.9% of all users in every use case. The only legit use of 8K is going to be for videography and down-sampling to 4K for better post-processing.

8K is developed by TV companies, nobody cares about your dumb PC monitor arguments.

4K is the new 720p. 8K is the true upgrade.

Kek linux cant even support 4k now, how can they ever compete??

it existed but there is no reason to use it.
you can use it for :
>separate two large paragraphs to make a long text more readable
>in markdown (reddit, github...) because that's a only way to make a return
>separate different replies.
but there is no need to make a double spacing for each sentence. If you want a bit formatting for a small post, a single return is enough.

I dont want to format for smaller post.

I don't care what you want or think about it.

Calling it "reddit" posting just makes you look new as fuck

5:4 objectively best

this is like calling > stuff meme arrows or greentext arrows. it's basic email reply formatting. wtf

based gemposter

uhh 1080 is a higher number than 4 and 8 dorks

I don't understand this double spacing stuff. I open quick reply and I press Enter to bring it down. I've been here since 2006 and only in the last few years have someone pointed out that it's apparently "Reddit spacing". I still don't get what it is as I literally just press Enter once for proper clean formatting like I've always done. I still don't understand what it is? Are you talking about pressing Enter twice to create a double empty space?

Oh, that's good since all TV is at most just 1080p that might occasionally get stretched out to 4k, and anime is all 720p.

framerate is for faggots, goys

>OMFG THIS THING NO ONE FORCES ME TO USE AT ALL THAT WILL CHEAPEN THE THINGS THAT I ACTUALLY USE IS SO STUPID I WANT IT TO STOOOP

8k allows you to have a 4k workspace with high PPI sharpness.
Pic related. You can play 4k video and have room for everything else.

Attached: 1538043694392.jpg (7680x4320, 3.67M)

agreed, 8k will certainly be nice to have once it's affordable.

high PPI AND a shit ton of usable desktop space.

My dude, take any hypothetical 8K screen and position it at such distance that it covers 90° of your field of view. OK? Pixels in the center are 1 arcminute 'dense'. That's what Apple called "Retina" or what's called normal vision.
That's as if 4K screen covered 50 degrees of your field of view. It's not outrageous for immersive media experiences.

Pic related comes from Japanese state broadcaster.
