I grew out of i3, now I just use a normal DE with some keybinds from my i3config. But to answer your question, no I don't click those icons. I use rofi bound to sup-d to launch applications with drun. That bar allows my gf to use the computer whenever she wants to.

Seems alright to me. My i3 bar is autohidden because I don't usually need that info. See-through terminal is distracting unless your background isn't busy.

Protip: When ricing, match up the colors. Literally, go into GIMP or whatever and use color picker to select hex colors from your wallpaper. Then apply those to your configs. Also look up Firefox customization via userChrome.css. Ideally you want your Firefox to match the rest of your windows

yep, one internal battery and one that I can hot-swap if need be. With an extra battery I can go for over 24hrs of constant use without charge. That other icon is remmina for when I need to remote into my work computer.

The terminal offers a ton of functionality and convenience when you learn it, and doesn't use near the resources as gui-based programs.

- traverse the filesystem
- view and move files
- edit code and text files
- git, expo, ect.
- piping stdout to other programs
- cat/grep/sed/awk/nmap
- task / resource manager
- listen to music with visualizations and lyrics support
- web browsing
- not to mention it's good practice for systems programming and backend
- fun shit like cmatrix, cowsay, motivate, toilet, tetris,
- read HN

Each of the terminals on my screenshot show up or leave with my command: F1-F4, and they're set to always on-top when they're showing. If there's a GUI tool to get something important done, chances are there's a CLI version as well.

Out of the box KDE. Can always use some minor tweaks for each person's use case. I recommend you mess around a bit.
"Growing out" of i3 is a strong phrase. But I kinda feel that. It just became more bothersome to me as I needed to use my computer for more stuff.
Different colors, less transparency (some blur even), a more minimalist, friendly and useful bar. Mostly the colors and the bar really. Just go into one of those color picking website and make a nice color scheme. I like paletton.com/ for example.

Full ubuntu installs feel so wrong. There's no reason to not pick minimal install and avoid the amazon bullshit.
I've never liked ubuntu's default appearance. Install some themes.
Why would anyone intentionally have a desktop like this, it's not even good to be ironic. It's just a weird uncanny valley desktop.
Too neon bright kinda hurts my eyes, but it looks neat. I just wouldn't use it myself.
I'm gonna break the sequence of sarcastic (You)s to honestly tell you that LARBS could look alright if it didn't have that ugly ass bar and terminal prompt. Really, you could get away with LARBS if you just changed that and used decent colors... if I did I would also not use st. I'm just not into it and I liked urxvt.

Indeed, terminal is such a great tool for programming. Maybe the only exception I use gui over terminal is for a file manager. I use pcmanfm + gvfs since I consider that drives should be mounted automatically.

it'd be the natural assumption, i guess. i like killing programs with bspwm but that unfortunately kills urxvtd so i opted for st as its speed is supposedly as par with urxvt (not urxvtd, though).
i use void to avoid systemd. that doesn't correlate to avoiding bloat.

It's a program launcher. You can type or navigate with arrow keys to search and start one.
