Have made no changes at all in both the hardware and software of my system since the last time it worked well. No overclocking, my setup is 4 same sticks i got bundled running in dual channel
Both bios and windows detects them and they run dual channel even inside windows.
Yet half the memory is reserved.
I repeat, no changes since the last "good" time
Help a brainlet out, yes I read the sticky. I just feel tired at this point
Ran memory diagnostics with no bad results
Resitted all rams
Changed configurations
Tried to boot with each module on its own and it worked perfectly fine.
It is time to install GNU/Linux. There are a lot of distributions to choose from. Most of them are free of charge, so you can try them all. Start with following distributions: >Ubuntu. (preferable XFCE) >Fedora (literally anything but Gnome) >OpenSUSE (I recommend KDE) >Debian (I recomment LXDE) When you're comfortable with them you can either keep stuff just working OR fell for >arch meme >Gentoo meme >Linux From Scratch Meme
James Lewis
I am using CentOS and Debian netinst sid right now on my main builds.
Readup before you post memes
Bentley Evans
Too bad you can't stream in 1080p or play AAA games on Linsucks.
Grayson Turner
I haven't tried CentOS tho... But all stuff listed here I used at least once. And I guarantee that one of this distro will work for average user.
Ian Hall
Use AMD GPU or Intel. Nvidia can't into GNU/Systemd
Andrew Clark
What is proton?
Chase Murphy
You have not used any distros at all, stop LARPing
here's your (you)
Colton Clark
Why ltsb? Why not enterprise? I fell for the ltsb meme and I either had to install missing stuff or some things didn't work right. My HTPC is windows, too, and I found enterprise works better with games and movies. Think of this as an opportunity to switch. Trust me, the less you have to fuck around with windows the better.
Parker Turner
I have used Xubuntu and OpenSUSE for long time,
Kevin Morales
You can, but computers are not toys.
Ethan James
Give us the numbers, dumbass. How much do you have and how much is available?
Jayden Bell
>needs to get xubuntu instead of ubuntu netinst and installing xfce >suse premade rpm-based meme that tries to be what RHEL never tried cause linux is not for the norm
Indeed shows. Tell me about your DE instead of WM, bud.
Wyatt Collins
It doesn't matter when it's a same-kit/box bundle set of modules. Clocks and CAS are the same, stop sperging.
And no, not using 32bit windows, you cannot make the 4 gig meme
Luis Long
I have an amd gpu in my desktop, but I've found nvidia works better with games. I've used steam on linux to play civilization for years now and I've never heard of this. Do you use it? Do you like it? I built one that is, so suck it.
I provided all the info that is needed. It's not my fault you wanna stroke your little dick with specs that literally have zero meaning.
Ram is not overclocked
Ram has supported base frequency of the mobo
Ram is a bundle kit so it's the same exact modules
Ram has CAS supported by the mobo
Ram is well below mobo maximum size accepted.
That's all you need to know.
Andrew Martin
plus ram worked perfectly fine till yesterday and no changes have been made in the system both on hardware and software
Isaiah Thomas
I've already told you, install enterprise and ditch ltsb. It's not made for media/gaming computers.
Camden Phillips
RAM is being reserved for onboard video
Nicholas Butler
i don't have cpu or onboard video
Hunter Watson
problem was resolved
there was no problem
was just checking how many LARPers neo/g/ has
quick info: using anything other than full source or netinstallers is bloat, don't pose as a linux guy if all you do is browse an imageboard on pre-configured software :^)
Jacob Hernandez
>recommending anything other than void linux
Ryder Allen
Works on my machine.
Joshua Hughes
So are you fucking with us or what? Because I've literally got LTSB on a bootable stick ready to install over my Hackintosh for the very reason of not being satisfied with the RAM usage at idle.
Does anyone know how much RAM ltsb uses fresh install? Cause if its above 1.5 gigs they can keep it. I have enough to go around, but its the principal of the thing. And the only hogs I like are my women since I'm a chubby chaser.
Logan Sanchez
i stream from a raspberry pi. purchased a hardware mpeg decode key so it can make use of the gpu in mpeg decoding. streams fine key cost $3
Lucas Lopez
>Does anyone know how much RAM ltsb uses fresh install LTSB eats 1.2, LTSC — 1.5
Joshua Howard
1.2gb isn't bad for a modern OS, esp Winders.
Does it usually behave after weeks or months, or start to balloon up for no reason?
Ethan James
Go with LTSB my fine man, don't listen to the spergs on here
Tyler Wright
>Unironically calls a desktop a rig
Alexander Taylor
It has no reason to balloon up if you don't use background services. I actually have it idling at 1 gig cause I have disabled a lot of winshit
Gavin Wilson
>home cinema >windows 10 but why
Oliver Collins
>I don't have cpu found your problem
Lucas Hall
Can you name (or point somewhere) what you disabled? I want mine clean.
Jayden Harris
You dont have a CPU....okay...
Have you been messing around with virtual machines? Perhaps your RAM is being allocated as part of a VM...which would explain why its only happening inside of Windows.
