Is there some quick-and-easy way to migrate just my windows install with just the C:\windows directory to a new SSD while leaving all the other crap intact (not having to reinstall shit or re-do settings, leaving software in the program files directory on the HDD, etc)

Alternately, if I full-clone the HDD over, can I just turn the top-level folders on the new drive into symlinks pointing to the same folders on the old drive to get everything working?

Why is it that so many older PCs were able to use passive cooling without overheating? I first noticed this when I was cleaning out my Power Mac 6100, the PPC601 didn't have a fan, just a heat sink (#1 in photo). The Pentiums of the day were also passively cooled. This lead to the realization that a lot of 486s and Motorola 68k processors did not have fans. Yet today, fans are practically ubiquitous, and if you don't have one then your shit will throttle mighty fast.

You could do it that way. Most of your bulky folders shouldn't need to remain in the same place anyway. General files can go anywhere, steam libraries can be relocated in settings, desktop and my program folders have relocate options.

Do software development teams all use the same operating system? Like are there teams where half of them develop on Windows and the other half on Linux? Does it make sense to ask an interviewer what OS they use if it's not mentioned in the job description?

I have a budget Android (a Moto X4) that has a little quirk to it. Whenever I tap anywhere on the screen, it takes a little bit of travel if my finger before the screen will actually start scrolling. It's like there's a little circle around my finger and I have to reach the edge of that circle before the screen will start moving. And if I reverse direction, my finger has to traverse the invisible circle before it'll start scrolling again.
Think of a bottle cap. You can push the inside of it with a pencil and it will move, but it will not immediately move again until the pencil reaches the other side if the bottle cap.
Normally it's not a problem, but when I am remoting into my desktop it's a right pain.

What is a decent fucking video editor?

That's a tough questions, since both DVI-I and HDMI are both digital. You'd be converting to analog in either case.
DVI-I is intended to support both digital and analog, so I'd go with that converter. But I'm just going off gut instinct.

Depends on what you're installing alongside windows
If windows is taking your entire disk you will need to shrink its partition so there is room for something else. Most normie tier linux distros have installers that will let you choose how much to allocate. Then the installer takes the rest of the free space on the disk

Yeah grub should install fine if you leave everything default. You will be able to boot into either linux or windows from grub.

I get that the packet reaches the destination system in the destination network because the router forwards it based on the port.
But how does the packet know which system to return to? The router logs it and assumes?

Hex color codes are relatively simple. It's simply #RRGGBB, but instead of 0-100 it's 00-FF for each respective color.
Pure blue would be 0000FF, pure green would be 00FF00. A deep crimson would be 7F0000 (with FF being 255 and 7F being 127).
A light blue you are looking for will have some red and some green in addition to a lot of blue. So you'll want to look for values with a lot of blue, a moderate of red and green.
For instance, 7F7FFF would get you a lightish blue (127 red, 127 green, 255 blue)

just a simple question about UPS vs AVR
my room's outlet layout prevents me from plugging my AVR directly to the wall so i use a heavy duty extension cord for appliances. says it has surge protection but not really. recently ive been experiencing multiple short term power outages lasting a second or so, not enough to shut down my pc but enough to fuck with my monitor and now my AVR occasionally makes noises as if its not getting enough power. im looking to get a proper UPS but the issue stays the same regarding not being able to reach the wall directly. does a UPS compensate the use of an extension cord or should i just accept that i have to plug it directly to a wall. regardless if its a UPS or AVR

If you are at that point, you would use the NUKE option and delete all keys on it. Normally you would then backup the header and be able to unlock your drive, but if the cia is after you, you'd still be in prison for the rest of your life for failing to unlock an encrypted drive, you might also have a destruction of evidence charge added on too

Nevermind I fixed it. I had to add C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\ to the exclusion list.
Not sure why that even helped or worked.
