AMD working on new internally developed chipset for x570, and dropping asmedia. Better wait to buy a new motherboard too :^)

inb4 its a 14LPP part from GloFo

Why would I buy new mobo when all of them work fine with all the chips this year & next

To make sure you can use the PCI-e 4.0 lanes on your CPU

I just bought a b450 motherboard ............... fucking amd lying as usual

I read something earlier talking about how the closest PCI-E slot to the CPU would definitely support 4.0 but the other ones wouldn't since they'd need retimers (for older boards, ofc)

That would be a huge improvement over the current 55nm TMSC planar process used by the x370 and x470 chipsets. Supposedly the new chipset is going to have a TDP three times as large, so I doubt that.

youtube.com/watch?v=M5S_qX2wYvY

Old mobo will still work
This is just for certain features such as pci-e 4.0

A socket change a year keeps the goyim in fear.

Attached: 1498818851830.jpg (499x500, 150K)

I don't get the 15W TDP part, unless they decided to stick in 10gigabit ethernet, for which I'd be pretty damn happy.

Attached: nenethink.png (233x311, 28K)

No gpu even uses 3.0 fully. So no thanks

There has to be more in the chipset to warrant the increased power/thermals. The standard USB and lanes wouldn't draw that much. a networking NIC might.

Wasn't the Asmedia chipset discovered to be vulnerable to attacks in that "Ryzenfall" leak? It makes sense to get dropped in favour of an inhouse chipset.

You could have two nvme drives, a 10Gbit ethernet card, and still a lot of bandwidth to spare

Cool, in 10 years when i have those I'll upgrade motherboard

wow user it's like you hate tech

Poor people tend to. Sour grapes is real.

Yes, but CTS labs are the good guys

>Once MASTERKEY is patched and the patches have had time to disseminate, we are thinking of partnering up with libreboot or coreboot to develop a way to shutdown the PSP. Doing this would completely eradicate the attack surface for vulnerabilities such as FALLOUT and RYZENFALL. AMD has recently offered a BIOS option to disable the PSP, but according to our testing that feature merely disables the fTPM... other functionalities remain open, and the Secure Processor remains vulnerable to RYZENFALL or FALLOUT. If there was a real option to halt the PSP's ARM processor, that would be a great security feature.

They want a solution like ME_cleaner for AMD. Absolutely based

Can't tell if stupid or trollin'. Your AM4 chip will work on AM4 platforms. Idiot. Not even giving you a (you)

NOOO MY COMPATIBILITY

Attached: ahhhhhhhhhhhh.png (396x408, 165K)

I knew my current mobo was fi- WAIT WHAT?

Attached: 2qv4x2.jpg (491x550, 62K)

Mine works fine though, so why? I don't get this logic.

Will the InfinityFabric be gimped on older motherboards?

If you have a 4-6 layer board, it's already going to work fine. It's literally just copper traces without active components.
It was confirmed that higher quality boards will get PCIe 4.0 support.

You faggots told me old boards would be enough AAAAAAGH

> chipset
Who cares. I mean, Ryzen is a SoC and there can be no chipset at all.

FUCK YOU AMD!

Attached: 1526565781243.png (1228x1502, 1.07M)

Can't there be problems with timing, crosstalk, or heat?

based

If a new chipset is released, it doesn't mean the old one wouldn't work.
Also they're dropping ASMedia probably because of Ryzenfall, there's no other reason.

> to develop a way to shutdown the PSP
Get into UEFI - AMD CBS - disable PSP. Done.

read nigga, read

Are you okay? Do you have brain damage?

> and the Secure Processor remains vulnerable to RYZENFALL or FALLOUT.
What's the deal if it's inaccessible from an OS?

n..no.. amd will never force me to buy a new mobo
it's not happening amdbros

Why would this require you to get a new motherboard? Are you retarded?

That disabling the PSP in UEFI doesn't really do anything

everybody in this thread is retarded or a paid shill, socket != chipset.
zen+ also came with a new chipset and the old boards works fine with it.

I cant believe this shit .... i thought amd were different then intel ... but in the end ... they are the same ..... fucking douchebags

Just let the intcels have this one.

>AMD working on new internally developed chipset for x570, and dropping asmedia.
CTS LABS CHIMERA CONFIRMED. ASMEDIA PROMONTARY MOTHERBOARDS FOREVER VULNERABLE.

i knew i should've gone with intel

I'll never listen to Jow Forums again.

Security doesn't matter!

Goddamit, false flagging is unreal.

I'm pretty sure most people are just memeing because we're sick of AMDrone shit

t. amdfan

Pretty much this. AMD dick sucking has gone through the roof since the Zen 2 rumour mill started.

let them have what, blasted asses?

blasted amdead asses to nut into

fuck off literal no brain piece of cancer

t.poor faggot pretending to be rich in an anonymous tech imageboard
either that or a paid shill.
in any case, get the fuck out of here, retard. I bet you don't know shit about technology.

>

Its bullshit, there is not a single 15w chip out there that can run without a decent sized heatsink.

but then again ayymd is meme teir and it wouldnt be all that surprising they make a motherboard chipset that literally causes housefires.

Yes, thats most likely why they dropped asmedia, once again Asus is proven to be low quality trash.

>15w chip out there that can run without a decent sized heatsink.
every low power laptop ever made does

And what's "high" quality then?

Things that arent Asus, biostar or intel

the case is the heatsink

Apple is shit faggot

Intel uses asmedia silicon too retard

Until they make the switch to ddr5 I don't care keeping my x470 2700x

They haven't been related in like 13 years you tard

So the just the chipset is going to draw more than an intel mobile processor?
Hahahaha
Enjoy your 3 hour laptops amd poojeets.

>intel releases a new mobo line
>its exactly the same just rearranged pins
>old cpus don't work on it
>amd releases a new mobo line
>it has next gen pcie doubling the theoretical throughput of the interface
>old cpus work on it but don't provide pcie gen4
Fuck! I Hate AMD making a new product with new features why can't they just stop making progress like me!!!?
-t Intel

Am I dumb or does it not say that x470 is fine as long as the CPU is present?

Also AMD and Glofo don’t need to alter the stupid wafer agreement too much. So it’s a win win for both amd and glofo

Maybe the chipset utilizes 4.0 x4 communication which divides it into 2x 3.0 x4 lanes for ssds and other I/O. Perhaps this is the source of the power consumption?

Maybe the chipset has built in wireless charging for dildos. Perhaps this is the source of the power consumption?

yeah because laptops use x470 ahaha

AMD has a special chipset for that. See if you can find it.

Attached: a300.jpg (1510x1132, 1.48M)

And the other side of that board.

>coping hard

the thread

as if we didnt know amd will launch new motherboards

A NEW CHIPSET AND MOTHERBOARD A YEAR KEEPS THE AYYMD GOYIM IN FEAR

So? Who cares?

I wonder if there is going to be a slight performance edge running on in-house chipsets. Back in the Athlon days *crack*, you would gain a few fps on motherboards using AMD chipsets vs the SiS or Via equivalent. *sips*
That said, Northbridge functions had moved on to the cpu so I don't think there would any noticeable differences.

14nm+++++++++?

it's a wire. you just need more of it, the complicated stuff happens on GPU and CPU

FUCK FUCK FUCK
My AMD rig is worthless now. Now I need to sell it quick and switch back to Intel before the news break. Thanks gaymd and fuck you.

motherboards with zen mean nothing, it comes down to BIOS,agesa implementation( gigabyte is shit don't buy)
ASmedia was used only for additional storage lanes, key word additional.
Almost everything I/O and memory wise with Zen is on CPU. New chip is important only for threadrippers I guess, where someone would assume 8 HDDs on board or something like that.
The only important thing here is if AMD dropping outside help with memory controller, which is on CPU itself, or not, that one would be big and irrelevant to motherboard.

There isn't one?

First pic LPCIO, PWM, unknown chip near the metallic standoff and USB-C(USB Controller?), CMOS chip next to RAM (or could be a LF-PAK FET, depending on how many pins are on the other side)

Second pic 8 pin chip (again could be BIOS), realtek Audio chip

The rest which resembles chips are obviously FETs/basic electronic components

Yes, that's the A300 chipset. It uses the on-CPU SATA controller and other tidbits that get disabled if your mainboard has these features itself.

>gigabyte is shit don't buy
What do you recommend? And does the same apply for Intel mobos?

Those compatibility shenanigans will affect performance, you'll see.
