death is literally the only escape. Welcome to the peasant class.

Why aren't you salaried?

Is he only calling people wagies if they're hourly? I thought it applied to anyone who sells labor.

I guess I'm a salaryman here, although I get OK bonuses.

salary is not wage?

wage cuck here and i fucking hate it

all i do is look forward to the weekends and then i realise 4 of these and its already a month of my life im never getting back

I cucked for about 11 months till i got fed up, quit and began freelancing then started my own company. Highly recommended

can you provide more detail?

Can you please elaborate a little bit further on that?

A little. While i worked an office job i did bare minimum because i hated it. Spent half my day on freenode while people weren't looking, since IRC doesn't look bad at a glance. There i met a bunch of cool guys with shared interests and we started a company around some ideas we had. I work with them irl now. It's only a small business and not super lucrative but it's good fun and we work whatever hours we like, wherever we want since its an internet business. I freelance on the side too, mostly for people i met online or through the business.

yeah but im low energy and i dont think i can survive the 'real' world where i have to put in effort

I do what I like and get paid a fixed amount of money for that, and not a small amount. how is that bad? better than having to chase customers (though that depends on how much money you make).

Then build some willpower, keep on cuckin till you're 70, or blow your brains out

Thats from a porn game isnt it

>has a vagina
>questions if it's for a porn game
what do you think?

Most female Daz models have vagina's.

>people got out and how did you do it?

Quit and started my own company, basically making version 2 of the thing I used to build as a wagie and taking over the old customers.

Isn't that border-line illegal to use knowledge you got from old company to start your own with the same-ish product?

no u
don't work, just die

I used to be a wage slave. Got tired of it, sadly/luckily grandparents died and left me all their land and real estate, sold it and now I've been living as a NEET for years. Couldn't be happier, still have a hobby though that generates extra income, even though I don't need it.

Based salaryman here , how do devs even end up with wages

Tbh I've found being salaried can be worse than being on a wage, unless you are in a higher position of responsibility rather than one of expected output.

For example, I make more than my manager at work in a given week quite often, but if I'm not needed I'll be off and getting less pay.

However if he has to work 60 hours in a week he doesn't get shit for it extra. I make bank

Where is the anus?

>work for myself fixing PCs
pretty comfy bros

protip: if they were the same thing there wouldn't be two different words

Salary is fixed pay, regardless of hours worked. Wage is hourly pay, dependent upon hours worked. Wages encourage working hard overtime for short an irregular periods, while salary encourages working consistently and reliably over a long period. Salary typically comes with additional benefits like health plans, stock plans, vacations, and yearly bonuses. Wages typically come with "flexible hours" and not a lot else.

>work for myself fixing PCs
spending weeks re-configuring your xorg.conf every time an update breaks your arch linux system is not the same thing as working for yourself lol.

No, because there was nothing about it in my contract.

Plus it is my knowledge, my skills.
I delivered them their customers and I can take them away again.
If they wanted to keep their profitable business they should have just payed me more.

English usually has 2 or 3 words for the exact same thing.

the dell optiplex beside me is a customers, and i'm getting paid to reinstall windows. The Thinkpad T420 is a donor PC for the last 420 that went out the door. I am typing this on my OWN PC though, next to a stack of DVDs with a shit ton of cash wedged in an anime DVD box.

>how do devs even end up with wages

Devs can earn a lot more working on an hourly basis.
$90/h is a pretty standard rate for a JavaScript developer now.
But good luck finding an employer who will pay the same $14k/mo as a salary.

Most people use the terms interchangeably...

When people disparage "wagies" around here they are referring to anyone who has a job and doesn't live a pathetic existence of mooching off their loved ones.

You're still a wage slave.
Being a wage slave isn't about you working on time, it's about having to work to live.

based

You're not earning a lot more when you only have a job for 3 months and then have to go back to searching again because your contract finished. No stock plans, no 401k, no health plans, no vacations, but hey you made $90/hr for a couple of weeks.

You can find a new assignment in a day if you're not too picky.
Companies are desperate for developers.

For example, "your mom" and "whore" is the same thing lole

Wait a minute, did I fuck up my quip

Then what are synonyms?
