GNOME is and always will be the default Linux desktop experience. KDEfags BTFO

KDE isn't bad, but GNOME is still more solid. if they get the RAM usage under control, it's perfect.

Whats the point of this thread? There's already a gnome discussion/hate thread in catalog.

*Khukles in Qt*

Default is almost always synonymous with shit, so this makes perfect sense anyway.

Gnome lacks features that KDE has, and I've yet to find a better file explorer than Dolphin for Gahnoo slash Loonix.

The fact that you have to install a shitton of extensions for Gnome in order to customise it hurts system stability a lot. I cannot change the taskbar in Gnome just the way I want it with multiple monitors, no matter how many extensions I install. I can do that with KDE though. No extra extensions needed, but I installed like two widgets.

Gnome 3.32 has many performance fixes ( you can try it on Fedora Rawhide)

>TFW when no feet to be tickled by Konqi

I installed a widget so I can disable the touchpad of my laptop + a widget to have quick access to redshift. Can you do that with Gnome out of the box?

Yes.

Guys I have a 144hz monitor. Does this actually work yet on Linux? Nvidia amd or Intel?

Someone post lewds of this baseddragon so the thread gets deleted and I get to fap to dragon porn.

Once again

It works if you don't use Wayland

I use the latest version on arch it's still slow and has stutter. However,The memory usage is way down and the memory leaks have been fixed. Its mutter that's the problem it's has extremely poor performance. They'll need to redesign it for gnome 4.

Gnome extensions just like Plasma widgets can change any aspect of the gnome shell. That's what makes the experience so unstable. A pooly designed add on can easily crash the gnome shell.

A couple weeks ago I installed Gnome instead of KDE.
And I'm switching back as soon as I get some free time.
Gnome just doesn't feel right.

>GNOME is and always will be the default Linux desktop experience.
You're obviously new.

Is there a way to control window positions automatically in Gnome with Wayland like you can with Kwin rules in KDE? (With X windws you can script moving windows with xdotool so it doesn't really matter)
I want all my programs to always launch in the exact positions and specific monitor I want them on, and to be able to automatically move them back there again if for some reason they get moved
