If you're creative enough, you could try starting some sort of microbusiness and become self employed. It is hard to come up with a feasible idea but it's technically within possibility.

Seems so man, all the kids at uni were getting money showered on them by mum and dad. Mine are wonderful but not too well off, can't demand a grand from them.
I've got a few grad schemes lined up, if they fall through I'm enlisting as an officer, you start at about £30k and get tonnes of benefits.

I've recently finished my CS degree and gotten an entry job for 65k which seems pretty average from what little knowledge I have. I had no contacts and no internships/real experience. Basically just built a few informational sites with as wide an array of technologies as I could. Embedding things like graphs or power BI dashboards helps it look professional. Even a quick and easy wordpress site helps pad the portfolio. Hope that helps. Would be interested to know what salary people started at and where they are at now

That's my life right now, just looking for a fucking helpdesk role after finishing up an advanced diploma and getting my CCNA R&S, A+ and a few microsoft certs.
Did that whole taking the initiative meme that uni/tafe's tell you look impressive, became student committee rep, started a successful programming club on my campus, studied my ass off to get 95% of classes as HD's, worked on a github, did the linkedin meme, volunteered teaching 65+ year olds to check their fucking emails and did the home computer repair bullshit and now it's 1.5 years later and constantly being told by cunts after interviews that they've found someone who's a better fit and more technical expertise.

My degree covered both programming and abstract theory. Even snuck in some electronics with appropriate elective selection.

I was unemployed in 1989. I went to the Commonwealth Employment Service- which I could do just by walking in. I would take a card off the boards, that described the job, to the desk. A clerk would ask me a few questions to verify I had the prerequisites, and call the employer, and arrange an interview. I would attend the interview.
If I was on the dole, I had to report to the Department of Welfare how many jobs I'd applied for. If I wasn't, I could just walk in anyway, as I said.
It was an excellent system, but Tony Abbott wanted to shut down the department, make it much more punitive, and give his church mates a massive income stream for providing what had been a government service.

Chem eng here who went computational simulation. I don't mind having sidestepped chemical plants to work in, because they're fucking dangerous. Of course, I could have been paid better because all the jobs for Chem eng in Australia are over in the minerals processing sector. There's always work in research too.
