I'd like to interject. What you're referring to as "Linux" is in fact GNU/Linux or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU + Linux. You see, what you listed there are a well known distributions of GNU+Linux. Were they just distributions of the Linux kernel they would not be able to display images.
