I don't need a good computer. A notebook with enough ram to run chrome or an intellij based IDE is enough for the stuff I do at home.

And I only play games on console, because I fucking hate to tweak configs and optimize shit to get a game running without any hiccups.

Honestly, nothing. I can do everything I do at my computer with a phone/tablet or gaming console. I did a $1.5k build in Autumn and honestly regret it. I'm a graphic designer who recently got in 3d animation. And part of the reason I did was because I built a fairly capable PC. The ironic thing is, now I have a more powerful PC at home than at work yet I do most of my 3d work at my job.

At least I can freelance and experiment in my free time.

My giant Cat7 cable and LAN to USB adapter arrived today and I'm so happy. Finally set it up and the difference is night and day holy shit. I'm in South Korea. The Internet speed over Wifi was fucking 0.25 mb/s. Fucking ISP-provided router didn't work. With Ethernet it's 100 mb/s. I realize it's nothing amazing but after years of being so slow, holy FUCK this is AWESOME. I can actually download and stream shit now and it works!!! Images on Jow Forums don't take 2 minutes to load!!!
