I can attest to the great comfort, can wear them for hours straight without any issues. Don't know about the 1770, since they're closed your ears might get a bit stuffy eventually.

the material is fine, it's the spacing that is uncomfortable which is fixed with memory foam

I own the DT 990 although many people say on the balanced pads the DT 1990 sounds similar.

And with analytical pads it sounds similar to DT 880. The DT 1990 will be as comfortable as a brand new HD 600, the clamp force is really strong in the beginning if you ever had the HD 600 new you would know that uncomfortable pressure on your head is what I got from review. They might get better over time though like the HD 600 do.
I don't hear many good things about it but I'm assuming it's eh for the price.
