loli > shota

This is an objectively false statement.

Been a while since I've built a PC, how do you tell the difference between an NVME and SATA drive/port on an M.2 drive? Am I right in saying that you need to have a motherboard that supports NVME over M.2 as well as an SSD that's specifically made for the NVME protocol?

How do you check a motherboard and SSD will support NVME?

/sqt/ might as well be called /cute boy thread/

are there any cute boys here?

Been a long while for me too, but yes you will need a specialized SSD for NVME. NVME is connecting the drive directly through PCIe. Pic related is what that kind of drive looks like

Attached: SAMSUNG-960-evo-1TB-m.2-nvme-ssd-1200x1200.jpg (1200x1200, 178K)

And pic related is a sata SSD. It has a dedicated SATA connector.

Attached: MZ-76E500BW_3.jpg (800x600, 59K)

I've heard of mled display technology, I'm wondering if those are with rgb LEDs or if it would be a matrix of white LEDs with an LCD for color (basically each pixel on the LCD having its own backlight)?

Some M.2 drives use SATA and not nvme, just being in the m.2 form factor doesn't mean it is nvme.

Gonna repost this here.

Someone recommended Musicbee to me recently and while I would like to try it out, I can't drag and drop files. I saw that you need to run the program not as an administrator, but I think I'm just not seeing the step to force it to run as an unprivileged user. How do I do this? Do I need to create a whole permission thing for it, or is there a simpler method?

I feel like I'd be able to solve this myself normally but I swear, I think my brain is deteriorating. I just can't figure this out.

What about shota traps?

what is the difference between earthing and grounding

superuser.com/questions/481080/is-it-possible-for-root-to-execute-a-command-as-non-root

nvme m.2 port will have one notch
sata m.2 will have 2 notches
the notches correspond to the notches on m.2 ssds
pic related is a sata m.2 ssd
this is an nvme

Performance wise, literally no difference for OS and gaming use.
For server and enterprise use there is a huge difference.

Just buy a 500GB+ 860 EVO.

How would you do that?

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention I'm using Windows.

Everyone I've met says to diversify and get comfortable with a bunch of things. Of course there's certs for specific technologies like Cisco certs, Redhat certs, Microsoft certs, etc. I hear the Cisco ones are pretty valuable.

I'm trying to make a program that generates cards for Anki using pre existing audio. Is there a format Anki accepts with the audio contained in the file? As it stands I have to copy everything to Anki's appdata directory and I'm trying to avoid that.

I have a HAF 922 case and I want to replace the front fan. Cooler Master's website says that the front fan can be replaced with a 140mm fan.
How can I know if a fan will work with it? Will any 140mm fan fit? I'm interested in noctua.at/en/nf-a14-uln

Look at the manual: apps.ankiweb.net/docs/manual.html
"Anki uses a program called mplayer in order to support sounds and videos. A wide variety of file formats are supported, but not all of these formats will work on AnkiWeb and the mobile clients. MP3 audio and MP4 video seems to be the most universally supported"

Now for my question; how do I run installer programs on WINE(or preferably Steam Proton)? I'm mainly asking because of repacks, GOG titles, etc.
Here's my setup, and it's why I can't go back to Winblows for dual-boot gaming
500GB slow-ass HDD - storage, games, etc
16GB MSATA SSD - Lubuntu 18.10
This setup is flawless for work, but playtime suffers. If nothing else, I guess I could always just go exclusively through Steam and stop pirating. But where's the fun in that? Plus, how will I use non-game Windows programs with an installer if I never learn how to run one?

WINEPREFIX=yourprefix wine installer.exe &> /dev/null

How the hell do I do this LTSC bullcrap. Like, is there a step-by-step guide somewhere and not just "here's a link that has 7 other links you should read and get familiar with before you shove the USB up your ass, plug it into the computer and have the iso not find any device drivers to install". This is retarded.

reCaptcha is used for AI, right? Crowdsourcing the part where you teach an AI what given images are?

How do they verify that the captcha is correct? If they have a computer that already knows what a fire hydrant or a bus looks like, why do they need me? If they don't have such a computer, how do they know I'm clicking the right squares?

That's not what i'm wondering about, I'm trying to remove MATE and from my already working Ubuntu install, after already "uninstalling" the package i installed and still having stuff like Caja, Cheese, Engrampa, a Color Picker, fucking Thunderbird for some reason?

So do all surfaces with a fresh USB install start up with 'Welcome to Contoso Ltd!' or is my 2nd hand surface previously used got some weird unique trigger on it

Probably some BIOS settings from a corporation or something

are you uninstalling it with admin privileges? did you try sudo apt-get purge mate-desktop?

This shit is nothing but trash, right?

It is mostly trash but I would use the disk cleanup utility in windows if I were you.

yea boi i'm getting "mate-desktop is not installed"

dude who owned it previously worked at microsoft so I figured it was that or a floor model.
just found it was a little weird that it popped up when booting off a fresh USB install.

Stop the windows update service then nuke the log.

sourcedigit.com/12228-uninstall-remove-mate-desktop-ubuntu-14-04-lts/
did you try these steps?

i think you misunderstood my question. I'm asking if it's possible to import a card/deck with audio packaged with it, such as a zip file. I know that it's possible to import decks as CSV with the audio's file name referenced in a tag, but the audio files themselves have to be put in Anki's appdata folder separately and I want to know if there's a way to import the cards and audio all at once, from one location.

I have litterally nothing going but my ping varies from 32ms to 450...

Is CPU bottlenecking really a big deal except for a handful of games? I have an i5 7500 and 1050 ti and want to upgrade the graphics card because it's already a bit too weak to play some newer games on nice settings, but am afraid the CPU will bottleneck a GPU that's significantly faster. That said, I haven't noticed my CPU being used that much in any games I've played since I built this PC, it's always the GPU being maxed out, so is it all just a lot of hot air from autists who must have absolute 100% from their components and exclusively play all new AAA games? In most games, at 1080p, is i5 7500 enough for, say, a GTX 1080 or RTX 2070? Would it just bottleneck on a few specific games? I don't really want to have to buy a 1440p monitor or upgrade the CPU any time soon, which is why I was wondering this.

>Windows Error Reporting
yeah just nuke it

>is this all hot air from autists?
most of it is. usually bottlenecking is a problem when parts are at either end of the scale, like pairing a Celeron with an RTX 2080 TI. When parts are closer together, it doesn't really kick in.

>would it bottleneck on [whatever game]?
it should be fine honestly with a 1080 or 2070

What's the best/easiest way to back up the important bits of my Windows 10 install for rapid redeployment? Windows 10 is shit and seems to need to just be wiped and reinstalled more frequently than older versions, so I'm hoping for an easy way to export my Group Policy changes, backup a few important folders, a few program configs, and throw them all back at their old locations.

# pseudocode
multiply_thing(t, mul);
divide_thing(t, div) {
return multiply_thing(t, div / (div * div))
}

is this right/efficient? i'm embarrassingly bad at maths if you couldn't tell

only if your multiplication is something like
multiply_thing(t, mul) {
return e^(ln(t) + ln(mul))
}

what's that mean

that you're a retarded chromosome thief and apart from wasting oxygen, you're wasting your CPU
instead of doing one division, you're doing one division and thre multiplications, congratulations

Is it bad to run multiple VPN software on the server side? I unfortunately need Windows, and seems like there's no wireguard for it. So I'm probably stuck with openVPN. Now I could install wireguard on my android and use it to connect, but it is bad to have different softwares handling different clients on the same server?

Any given bread with over 40 unique posters is almost 99% guaranteed to have at least one really enthusiastic underageb& devoted to the subject, unironically coming to Jow Forums.org for serious discussion about topics that interest them. Objective fact. Many of them aren't even 15 yet.

I wouldn't be suprised if at this very moment there were numerous freetard shotas lurking Jow Forums on a Linux system right now.

tl;dr - what are some resources for home lab projects?

I want to get a home lab going so I can build on my community college degree and get a sysadmin job.
I've got a capable main pc: i5 6600k, 32gb ddr4 ram, gtx 1060 and a ton of M$ licenses from uni. Additionally I have a ton of old and working hardware. Thanks surplus sales!
What is a good place to find resources and projects for a home lab? Can it be done mostly virtually? I have a tiny virtualized lab I can restart but no projects now that I've graduated.

Why is peazip took few seconds to open or activate before decompression while 7zip do this instantly

I am at a situation where I need to have a phone job from home. The problem is I live with my parents (inb4 loser). And I don't want them or my neighbors hearing my conversations on phone all day (I live in an apartment).
I have my own room. Is there any way I could isolate or muffle my voice so that isn't heard from other rooms? I can get whatever mic and make whatever setup as long as it's cheap. I thought of maybe placing a mic in a box layered with sound isolation from the inside, is that stupid?

got a fine method, but it involves ammonia and bleach

Considering Linux for gaming. What are my options? I've been seeing more progress on Proton and I'm sick of Windows. Also I love Linux font smoothing.

I have a website, example.org and I have two subdomains, sub1.example.org and sub2.example.org.

The main site and the subdomains are reachable from inside the network, but the subdomains are not reachable from outside of the network.
What could be the problem here?

> subdomains are not reachable from outside of the network.
What are your DNS records? Do you have and internal DNS zone inside your network?

bump

Attached: aoe1.png (1920x1080, 980K)

labs.play-with-docker.com/

They're A records and yes.
The problem is somewhere in the firewall, the previous sysadmin has messed things up before quitting.

> yes
So there's an internal DNS zone? Do dig @8.8.8.8, if it shows nothing, you need to add these records to your public DNS as well.
> firewall
if it allows connections to 80 port, it should be enough. Unless you use non-standard ports for these subdomains ,ofc.

80 is on, so the main site is reachable.

here's the dig:
; DiG 9.9.5-9+deb8u16-Debian sub1.example.org @8.8.8.8
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER

> AUTHORITY SECTION:
> sub1.example.org. 599 IN SOA
Well yes, there aren't any records. Add them. Should be like:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
mail.google.com. 19177 IN CNAME googlemail.l.google.com.
googlemail.l.google.com. 101 IN A 173.194.122.150

So, IN A is a valid answer, IN SOA means there's nothing.
