Had that happen to a friend of mine. He was only trying to install gentoo.

I bought a laptop with a regular HDD + this intel Optane thing because it was cheap and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed, it seems to get faster and faster as time goes by

Nice try f*ggot enjoy not getting to enjoy the clickety clackety as hdd reads and writes data

>he still uses benchmarks that are not indicative of real world performance in 2019

I do and I still prefer HDD's to be quite honest.

My grandma died, her ThinkPad HDD blew up and it sliced her in half. At least Gentoo was still installed when we put it back together.

>current year
>gentoo still can't safely handle hdd
how can linux compete?

>intel

(((intel)))

>HDD's to be quite
You bitchy bitch

>buying from the planned obsolescence jew

>he still doesn't raid 0 NVMe drives in 2019

Fuck me I'm a weaboo but that background is disgusting at best

I can get both of these for the same price, gonna put them in my laptop and most intensive work it's gonna see is probably editing 720p videos and launching visual studio
-new seagate barracuda ssd, 256gb latest gen toshiba 3d tlc nand, phison s10 controller, dram
-used samsung 256gb sm841n pulled from a laptop, essentially an 840 pro for ODMs
Which one Jow Forums?

Why are you using an old version like that user? Version 6.0.2 has been out since October.

>SSD
Bit decay. A literal issue with SSD.

Until I can get 3 TB SSD for

It's an issue that shouldn't stop you from having an SSD atleast as a boot/OS drive.
It doesn't make sense yet to replace all of your HDD with SSD but having an SSD as a OS drive will yield like 90% of the benefits and it's not all that expensive

SSD for bootdrive is bit of a myth. If you constantly restart/shutdown >1 a week, that may have a tiny value, but as the price/GB right now, its worthless.

My Win10 on an old HDD boots up in 30 seconds, so what if it boots up 15 seconds on SSD? Is it worth losing 3 terabytes over 120 gb of shit?

An old workplace used this software with the normie background (no anime grill) and when I first found out, it gave me a good laugh. At home I use the superior version you pictured.

SSD is overrated.

>that background

>he falls for the m2 ssd meme
enjoy house fire when you move files around

I will finally when I build a new gaming computer, mine just recently died it has 7 on it and honestly the prices before were a turn off and I was also just lazy about not wanting to have to reinstall 7 all over again.

It's more than just boot times
I've used Windows 10 on both an HDD and SSD and on an HDD it's flat out not a pleasant experience, literally anything like windows updating or a program that uses lots of random IO will bring everything else down to a craw.
With an SSD there is no issue with any of that
Again no one is saying replace all your HDDs, I still have all mine and they work better than ever because they not burdened with having a OS on them.
An SSD is only a myth to those who have never used one

> be a kid
> put gaym CD in computer
> CD drive at eye level on desk
> playing game and CD spins up
> thoughts in the back of my mind about the CD blowing up and destroying my eyes
> be 2019
> laptop on lap with a hard drive
> have similar thoughts about the HDD turning me into a trap when it explodes

Where do I find 3TB HDD for

GTX 260
I7-920
6gb RAM
500GB HDD

still enough for the shit I do. And now kys capitalist pig

> what if it boots up 15 seconds on SSD
You still think SSDs are like hard drives
Boot up is similar to coming out of suspension. Literally power on, post, and desktop. No loading screen

>hurr durr you can start your comouter 30 seconds faster
>that total matters when you startet your PC 7 times a week

fucking gay meme. my OS will never end up on a ssd

You clearly never used an ssd so you really don't have an argument here

>He doesn't use a PCIe SSD in 2019

Are you guys poor or something?

You haggle prices with (((merchants))).

checkmate

>Those randoms.
They're basically identical to the normal SATA drives, but carry a huge premium.
Until they actually improve in that field it makes no sense to get one.

>not using an array of 10000 floppy disks in raid

I am fine with anime traps
but that bitch is straight up ugly

>cuck
>cancer

SSDs can't contain my porn collection

good anime

The Thinkpad or your grandma?

The largest capacity optane drive is decent upgrade in random read/write to fastest sata ssds

I'm still going to skip whole pcie 3.0 generation and upgrade 850 pro maybe to 980 pro or equivalent pcie 4.0 drive

Its a meme you dip. It's like installing gentoo or actually using linux as a desktop OS. Nobody here really does it they just trick stupid people into wasting their time.

Attached: 1544488994413.png (1000x571, 72K)

Literally what is RAID getting you there? This one is a single NVMe.

And this is a HDD with PrimoCache pretending to be Optane.

actually i own 5
got my first one in 2012 (crucial m4 256gb) and it's still in use
