Why aren't HDDs banned yet on sub-$500 computers?

Wtf is ssdnow

Because SSDs at this price point perform like garbage, 1TB hdd has 8 times the capacity and a modern one has comparable read and write speeds to those cheap-o SSDs

because they're cheaper.

Because an SSD that’s a decent size will be half the computer cost

no more space for bloatware, YOU NEED BLOATWARE ON YOUR MACHINE, user

HDDs still lack random performance which is what really matters even compared to a cheapo SSD

cheap 120gb ssd for os and everyday programs

big cheap harddrives for media storage

It's harder to scam goyim that way.

I wish there was another fast access storage technology
current SSD sucks ass

>current SSD sucks ass
For what reasons?

*corrupts your blocks*

this.
product choice exploits cognitive dissonance. you decision moves from being "whether to buy" to "what to buy"

Why do you want more laws

Ask your corporate masters.

Don't I fucking know it. Thank GOD my $600 laptop had the space for a real hard disk. That 128GB Lite-On shitSD actually went in the bin - I couldn't con anyone into taking it.

all ssds have backdoored firmware and are impossible to properly encrypt. It's like inviting "people" to steal your data.

even those cheap entry level kingston ssds are 5x faster than the fastest hdds.

because 1000 > 120. i used to sell pcs. normies literally think like this.

b-but it boots in 10sec

Why don't SSD makers start demanding that PC OEMs list the read/write speed on their product box/specs to try and push that as one of the big specs? It's literally more important than the CPU for modern computers where the CPU barely matters anymore.

or because they don't want to deal with thousands of RMAs (and risk a class-action lawsuit) because MEMESSDs are failing for no reason

Came here to post this. I've been using these since they came out and they're fast as an SSD at booting, but have great storage per dollar ratio. Mine are all 2TB 2.5"

(you) made me laugh

>modern HDD
>comparable r/w speed

Except they don't unless we're talking trash 32/64GB eMMC drives.
