I know, I'm not proud of it. In its current state, I should be boycotting YouTube and jumpng ship to viable, FOSS alternatives like Dtube and Bitchute.
But sadly, there are just some things on YouTube that rev up my nostialgia too much, and I'm not ready to take off my goggles.

what's the problem with youtube?
just use youtube-dl+vlc

>reddit
uninstall yourself

ublock origin
ublock origin extra
httpseverywhere
decentraleyes
buster

What’s the point of h264ify?

I use youtube-dl+mpv sometimes too. But, ideally I'd be watching content from creators who would prefer a freedom respecting platform.
VP9 is more recource intensive to decode than H264. If I'm doing media work I'll turn it on so I can minimize my latency if I want to listen to YouTube in the background. If I'm not plugged in to power, I'll use it to save battery life.
A handy lil' extension

My browser doesn't support extensions

Just uBlock Origin.
Anything else makes startup slow as fuck.

Just gonna comment here for anyone in Chrome who doesn't know this:
Some of the Chrome flags are fantastic for anyone still using Chrome. Go to chrome://flags and configure that.

uBlock Origin
Last Pass
h264ify
my own extension similar to Cookie AutoDelete but better

OP here, I agree.
Why forced text antialiasing isn't default is mind blowing, and VAAPI decoding is veerrrryy nice. The new experimental scrollbar is perfect. Once certain flags are enabled, it's very difficult to miss Firefox based browsers.

everything except ubo

Chrome won't render Youtube video in the background.

>forced text antialiasing
you don't need it unless you have fucked up font config
>VAAPI decoding
it's very nice, but you need to install build with VAAPI patched in, its not in default Chromium/Chrome
>overlay scrollbar
this is god tier, I didn't even now of this

Just tried out the overlay scrollbar flag and I'm considering using a scrollbar again
