Just as Microsoft announced they'll be using chromium as the base for their new browser, perfect

Attached: 6516513219.jpg (416x421, 3K)

chromium works fine for me, i'll use a chromium fork or firefox

Why people seem surprised that an ad and tracking company wants to keep you from blocking ads and tracking?
Is their PR team really that good?
Of course they would do that as soon they felt they could get away with it.
See all their nonstandard extensions to web formats. Hell, google's own sites use an API that only implement, causing their services to run slowly on other browsers.
Embrance, Extend, Extinguish.
Now that they own your browser it's time to start locking it down.

They will be kneekaping adblockers on Chromium to let it spread downstream

Guess I'll have to switch to Firefox, oh wait I'm already using Firefox because I'd never use a cucked browser that sells my data.
Chrome users had it coming, and they'll probably take this in the ass gladly too since they have no self-respect and prefer to use a bloated spyware of a browser just to stay away from "muh trannies".

Has anyone tried using AI to block ads? Does tensorflow js works in browser extensions.

Most likely Google will release their own ad-blocker to block their competitors. Third party blockers will still exist, but most people will be too half assed to install them.

What about people who use their hosts file to block ad services?

This. I will keep using firefox til the end of days. If firefox is kill, then i will just kill myself too

he doesn't know

whos going to tell

You are already not able to block everything with your hosts file. See: Youtube Video ads

Really? Seems chrome is the fastest way to use internet anyways. I think I would value my time over fighting something impossible to defeat. Whats your problem Jow Forums?

Attached: heh.jpg (600x600, 21K)

>what is mpv

With dns over https you won't be able to see what domains your browser is accessing, you will only see fuckloads of cryptographed https requests without knowing what any of them are.
Eventually they will just force you to install DRM

So how do you go about this? Copy the video hyperlink, then paste it into terminal with some command?
I'd rather use a non-shit browser that allows normal adblockers. Of course a hosts file is helpful with how much there is to load though.

They ((MAYBE)) convert to it

well, i use a non-shit browser (firecucks), but still watch youtube videos with mpv. You mad, fag?

There are extensions that will open the link for you in mpv. The window will open up instead of loading the page. And if you need to see views and comments, you've been cucked by social media and there is no hope for you. Also, RSS feeds instead of subscriptions.

you sound ridiculous, but you might just have a reason
some of the complaints voiced by ubo's guy sound weird asf
>Pre-loading the extensions with data won’t work either since Google is restricting filters to 30,000 items and, as Ars Technica points out, uBlock Origin requires 90,000 filters by default and runs with up to 500,000 to be most effective.
like, bitch?
I'm actually visiting like 2 different sites a day (Jow Forums and pornhub obviously), maybe up to a hundred sites a week. Keeping ___all___ these rules loaded in is unreasonable and inefficient, and just plain stupid.
>NEEDS hundreds of thousands of filters to run
unless you visit all those 57,693 websites simultaneously, no, you really don't.
this is chrome forcing ad blockers to become better and stop wasting system resources and being an unoptimized piece of shit
What ublock could do: Trim loaded filters down to the frequently used website, for other sites, fetch rules upon visit. Not all filter rules are like this, but a large part of them are.

>t.Jew

A adblocker by a ad company
I doubt that will happen.

>implying one post from a single firefox dev explaining "why chrome did this" means firefox will follow suit
Guess what, even if they wanted to, Firefox would never be able to pull it off, because they'd complete lose their already minuscule userbase, which is mostly composed hacker-types who value privacy and freedom.
Firefox literally cannot break uBO compatibility without committing suicide. Chrome, on the other hand, has a ridiculously high market share, mostly composed of dumb users who literally don't even care. With so much market share, they have their users by the balls, which means they can now pull off jew tactics like these.

>You mad, cool guy?
Not really if you actually copy&paste hyperlinks into terminal lmao.

That sounds cool though. I'll read up on that. Is using MPV like this also good when you have weak/old hardware?

Attached: 1542906409640.jpg (240x219, 16K)

Bullshit. Hosts file blocking works just fine with DNSCrypt or DoH.

If they will do this, I will make my own fucking browser, because fuck it.

There's a surprising lack of clarity in complaints about this.
I don't think even "gorhill" understands how much of this is bullshit, unreflective of the real use.
Sure, I need the rules for the sites I don't and never would visit, loaded and on standby all the time. We have regional lists separation for a reason

the day I can't block ads is the day I stop using the web.

>block other ads than Google
>...
>profit

>Is using MPV like this also good when you have weak/old hardware?
Absolutely. You can even close your browser with the video still open for even more resource savings. Google will fuck it eventually, I'm sure. But for now, it's great.

Sounds great. Youtube has gotten too bloated in the last year so now I can't watch videos on my poor Thinkpad X300 anymore. Thanks user.

I hope it doesn't spread to chromium.

It’s actually starting there

Yeah, and considering Chrome has 80% market share. This is quite devestating.

I'll stick to Waterfox, thanks.

I wonder how long it will take for Gmail to become unusable and everyone flocks back to Yahoo mail or Microsoft.

Use Firefox.

He still doesn't know, someone tell him before he embarrasses himself any further.

Fuck em then. I already use Firefox on my phone for this exact reason. I can't install an ad blocker on mobile Chrome and mobile browsing is fucking unusable without ad blocking even on a high end device. Time to do the same if this happens on desktop.

they ((may)) switch to that manifest

Maybe, but I'm more feeling like HolyC.

Get sued for unfair competiton and for monopoly.

It's almost as if...

>2019
>Using extension based adblocking

EXPEND MUNEY NO GUD
fuck you, retarded piece of shit, stop eating at McDonald's for a fucking weak, get a fucking orangepi mini or a raspberry with ethernet, even first gen have enough power to run this shit. I use on a fucking Via c7 netbook and that garbage doesnt even get more than 25% load on the cpu. Fucking nigger faggots, Jow Forums is full of this kind of normie retards.

>I hope it doesn't spread to chromium.

It does.

The change is in the Chromium API.
With the new API it will no longer be possible to control Chromium in the ways necessary for effective ad blocking.

>google forcing me to stop using it's botnet

Assuming the worst does happen and this (((change))) goes through and cucks most browsers since almost all of them are chromium based would there be any grounds on which to sue google(like anti trust, etc)?

Attached: IMG_20190119_002014_446.jpg (645x790, 72K)

if this happens and becomes a trend that other browsers go along with I'm going to unironically stop using the internet

TURN OFF THAT PESKY AD BLOCK

Imagine being so retarded that you use chrome on a daily basis

Attached: 91160679.jpg (462x358, 28K)

How can they block it if I stopped updating my chrome?

Probably not, US justice lets tech companies do whatever they want. Probably due to lobbying.
Even Facebook's huge scandal ended with a public show and a slap on the wristle.
Maybe the EU or England will try something, except that people here will hiss and boo it like they always do when europeans do something against big US companies

>adding bloat
retarded frog poster

They EULA says they can install new versions of chrome on your machine. They can also change it retroactively at will, because tech EULAs are stupid and abusive.
If they stopped caring about PR they can ignore your choice of not updating and push the update by force, Microsoft style.
The infrastructure is there since 2014 or so.

How will Chrome ever recover?

Attached: 1541881675222.jpg (806x813, 93K)

By fucking up ad blockers.

By raking money beyond their wildest dreams thanks to their monopoly until people get tired of putting with their bullshit to the point of using a smaller and less compatible browser (i.e chrome will be the new ie until a new firefox is born)

Literally no one will care because 90% don't use an adblocker. And of the ones who do, 99% will put up with being cucked over switching to a slower browser with compatibility issues.

is Jow Forums x on firefox

who cares

Stop glowing in the dark please, it hurts my eyes.

>I'm already using Firefox
>I'd never use a cucked browser that sells my data.
Which is it?

Don't bother, the only person using firefox on Jow Forums is the one shill that they could afford to hire.

Really shocked how people love being fucked with by companies

Why don't you already have a hosts file set up user?

Hostfiles are too primitive for modern adblocking. Most sites will also stop working with host files, and most sites nowadays host ads on their own domain (through some dynamic wankery or not).

i guess i could back to editing my hostfile in linux and setting up firewall rules again but uggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggh

You should start then
old.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/aithmh/raymond_hill_creator_of_ublock_origin_ubo_and/eerce78/

Yes

so would this apply for all chromium-based browsers, or just those that opt not to alter the code?

Like, would the upcoming edge revamp not be able to circumventerate this? or opera?

if not, Firefox is pretty solid outside of battery life, i guess

All chromium-based and potentially also gecko/ff-based browsers.
The whole point of edge revamp IS to be tied to the hip to chromium.
Opera since they stopped with presto has also been tied to the hip with chromium.

ah, that certainly is cause for alarm then. thank you

Firefox is more cucked. Thus, you are a cuck.

firefox, waterfox, or icekitty?

We can go deeper

Imagine templeOS having an IPv4/IPv6 stack with functioning network drivers.

>using anything but earthfox

What about a firewall type ad kit program? Basically you filter internet traffic before it even reaches the browser?

Sure it'd be an inconvenience, but most people have an antivirus by now, so why not roll that into it, or as a separate product.

See

Hear me out for a second. What if we use scrappers or scrapping programs to get our content from now on? I mean I know they've always existed but what if we took it further? Like imagine never having to use a browser again thanks to every site having at least 1 scrapping program dedicated to it. Programs designed to look and run like the very sites you browse but the key element here is that it pull all the important content from a site and redirects it to the program, skipping past the ads, news feed, and all that other bullshit that clutters a site while still giving you things like captchas and such where you don't just pull things from the site but also upload or summit things as well.

Then later on someone could come up with a multi scrapper to hold all the sites people visit that check for updates, switch to alternative scrappers, and even search for new scrappers. All without ever needing to open a browser again.

Attached: 1544570656488.png (1583x521, 33K)

oy vey

Doesn't work because of js, retard.

>I think I would value my time over fighting something impossible to defeat.
Please tell me you've shaved your vagina today.

What's the use of all these bullshit when you can just pull the website and read the fucking content instead of interacting with it.

>a free open source botnet-infested browser wants to become more botnet-infested
>people are mad about this
lol literally just take the anti-features out of the source if they bother you so much
lol dude
lole

Simply don't update the browser. Wow that was hard!
>Jow Forums in 2019

Kind of already exists. Jdownloader is an application that allows you to you use file hosting sites without actually visiting their ad riddled pages. RSS feeds stopped people from repeatedly visiting pages to see if there was new content.

Isn't that essentially Brave's business model? iirc it even replaces 3rd party ads with its own instead of blocking ads outright

>chromium does X
>WHAAAAAA change it back
How about you use some other browser instead retards?

Just install AdGuard and use it with any web browser.

It works using headless browsers, or using recipes that basically replace JS with other scripting languages. The problem is that content providers will block you if it affects profits, and you're still being tracked unless you implement sandboxing and cookie management.
