Default Devuan with a simple theme change and messing with the taskbar. Does anyone know where I can find the WM in the second pic? It's where I got my theme from but I can't find the WM he is using. Didn't know where else to ask. Any help would be appreciated.

What's a good way to display the output of i3status without using i3? Ideally better than outputting i3status into a plain text file and showing its content on the panel.

Are there any significant downsides or things that are impossible in one of these?

I'm interested in awesomewm, simply because it uses LUA, but all of them is supposed to be highly customization. Some user recommended awesome to me, but I just want to be sure I won't regret it later.
All I want is to do something like pic related, but I might want to add some widgets later on. Also I would like to be able to configure tings like grabbing and making windows float with mouse (like in xfce4).
Also is this good idea/possible to go without DE?

What's wrong with Windows 10 (besides "Jow Forums told me it's bad")? Because it takes less than ten minutes of tweaking to make it stable, get rid of Microsoft bloat, properly disable updates and turn off always-online, and so on (if you know what you're doing / how computers work).

why not herbstluftwm? and i think the only way u will know is if u try these wms. u dont have to rice them right away. they can all look like this but make sure the wm has all the features you are looking for.

For now I think I'll install awesomewm and try to do basic setup and see if it has everything I want.
Also really nice setup. What browser is it? Is it themed firefox or some tabbed+suft setup? How do you input urls etc?

I know LUA and I don't know how it's different from others except config files or lack of them.
If you are asking if I can handle using system without DE, I'm not sure. I have only used XFCE4, but I'm not afraid to configure things in terminal. I already have scripts that manage screens, startup, etc I only customized/used XFCE to bind keys to these scripts.

Go right ahead. That's a major stepping stone passed as most awesome users were forced to learn it as they configured awesome (often just copying examples from the docs). It's the most customisable one out there as a far as public wms go.

herbst uses frames. there hard to explain. i suggest giving herbst a try if awesome doesnt work out. herbst is easy to config and the floating mode is comfy. im using waterfox with a userchrome.css and the vimFX addon. the o-key brings down my url bar.
