got a new monitor, thinking about getting a wall mounted vesa monitor arm and putting my old monitor (dell s27dg) above the new one. cant be bothered to sell the old monitor and dont want it to just rot in my basement.
next on my list are new monitor speakers and a new table, thinking about investing a few thousand euros. dunno what I want to get yet, just feel like throwing money away atm.

I was looking into herman miller aerons, found some base models on CL for $200, but I managed to sit in one and it wasn't even comfortable. I don't understand how people shop for chairs without sitting in them. I tried some gaming chair at staples that felt nice enough but has that dumb gamer aesthetic

Clamp style is sturdier but you have to be careful with the type of desk you're goingg to use it on. Double check the length of the arms too, you don't want to end up short for you side monitors.

LED string lights on your ceiling can be pretty cozy for an entire room.
If you want to light up a specific area, it's all about warm lights and colours. Check out rice paper lamps and 1800k bulbs.

Unironically red LED bulbs. Red light is the absolute easiest on your eyeballs in the dead of night, which you'll want while staring at the harsh blue of an LCD screen.

I've worked with a couple of Sonys from that era, wasn't particularly impressed by either of them. Maybe I got a couple of bad eggs or something. The mid-to-late 70's Onkyos are the best imo- sound great, easy to service, and absolutely gorgeous.

yeah, I've heard Pioneers can be really hit or miss. I've had huge hits and misses on their turntables. Restored and resold a few, and one of them was pretty much too fucked to sell.
I don't have a pretty receiver right now, just a late 90s/early 2000s home theater unit. Puts out respectable power though, around 100W. More than enough to drive a couple of old Bose Series II speakers i fished out of a dumpster.
