Poorfag here, Monoprice MP-65TW or Micca MB42X or Edifier P12

at that point, isn't it just cheaper to learn to play guitar?

I really love vintage JBL speakers.
This is my rack based off of the flexy rack from tnt audio

audiophiles want the best accuracy to reproduce the sounds of the instruments, not to produce. I imagine there are quite a few audiophiles who also play instruments

Or go to the concert lmao

>no cable management
pleb-tier

I don't have my chifi interconnects so I didn't bother managing the power cables yet

What feet did you use?

I need suggestions on what to replace my Sony STR-V4 with

Monthly reminder that Klipsch speakers pair best with Parasound and vintage Marantz amps

What about the Speakerlab Klipsch Clones I have a pair of Speakerlab 6WA

Are those the Heresy style ones? My minimal knowledge with the Speakerlab clones says they use the same or very similar drivers so I'm sure the same will also be true

supposedly Heresy/Cornwall Clones according to the reviews

>2 shots fired at Klipsch

I don't see why they wouldn't pair well they used a lot of EV drivers like Klipsch did

well this model have house made horns and Woofers

What does "diffuse field" mean in relation to speakers?

Depends how on what is meant by "audiophile", because today this word got so twisted from its original meaning.

Diffuse field principle. Theoretically, diffuse field is defined as a Sound pressure field where there is no privileged direction of the energy. In other words, when sound pressure is the same everywhere in the room.

How should I measure lower than 300-500 hz? Books always mention RTA 1/3 octave analyzer. Is it good enough to checkout peaks and dips or I should tune and measure with less smoothing?

Not really. Musicians mainly want stuff that sounds like shit, in a good way.

unironically, this

Musicians talking about their gear can be at at least as hellish as friends who believe they can hear their cables are better.

Recommend me powered monitors/desktop speakers up to 600€

I have a pair of klipsch 51M bookshelf speakers, want to use it in my home office. What’s a decent amp for this? Source will be a toppings DAC hooked up to my PC. Don’t need a bunch of bells and whistles. Under $200 would be awesome, but can go up to $500.

hey I'm already fairly certain these are going to be ideal for me but I just wanted some opinions. What do you think? they seem awesome

>2019
>Not using a raspberry pi to control your audio setup

They look very power starved and have a power limiter so you'll lack dynamics at higher volumes. And I'm not talking about party levels but rather "turning it up" to a song you enjoy or something. You'll also liable to encounter "volume pumping" as the limiter reduces output volume to stay within the power envelope

>Maximum SPL @ 1m, one speaker playing, on axis: 103dB from 200Hz up sine wave, 95dB at 100Hz sine, 93dB pink noise

This shows that the speaker is power starved and the amplifier has a limiter to prevent distortion. Lower frequencies require a lot more power to reach the same SPL, and outputting pink noise the speaker's output plummets.

Is it like headphones? I listen at about 70-85db depending.
Is there a better option for convienent desktop speakers with room correction for the same price or cheaper

What about just like jbl lsr308 or vanatoo transparent zeros+a DSP solution (idk of any def need help here)?

Average are not peaks.

Personally I'd rather get a miniDSP HD for roomEQ, you can do all kinds of fancy stuff with it, and you can also integrate a subwoofer into your room well. You also get to keep it when you upgrade in the future.

LSRs are quite a bit bigger compared to the IKs, and are good but not excellent. If you can afford them why not preorder the Transparent One Encore? The originals had excellent reviews and the new ones seem to be improved in many ways.

Mpd?

I have a pair of shit speakers powered by a shit amp that produces lots of noise, is this a good solution?

Attached: 100000001003914277_10203_002.jpg (250x250, 10K)

Volumio, which probably uses MPD on the backend. The only thing that it doesn't do very well is being a bluetooth target, but I haven't had a need for that anyway.

try a not shit amp instead

I need an amp to run functional salvaged speakers
Is help available here and if not can you point me to where I can get assistance?

The minidsp will correct the fr of the speakers with just any old mic or do I need a special mic?
What's the point in buying a processor like the minidsp when my DAC is plugged into my computer? Can't I just do whatever the minidsp is doing on my computer? I have a very well measuring DAC already so

audio seems like one of those things were someone could come in and just undercut everyone and become top dog. why isn't it like that

What's this?

What makes you say this? Which part/parts of design and construction process do you think is being milked by incumbents that you could undercut them on?

all of it. its just paper plastic and copper. the technology is old and should be figured out well

A calibration mic is required, the UMIK is a USB calibration mic that is a shrinkwrap solution. You can use RoomEQ wizard on Windows if you want, but you can't do subwoofer integration then if that matters to you. If you want to add a sub sometime in the future, sub integration with a DSP is mandatory.

Otherwise, just get the UMIK by itself and use RoomEQ wizard.

You can buy literally any lepai amp off AliExpress or if you want to get fancy maybe doukaudio. It's not like these speakers are HiFi anyway

as long as it will actually work
never heard of aliexpress before so I'll take a look

>never heard of aliexpress before

the last time I used my card on the computer was like five years ago so I'm not up on all the shopping sites

Congratulations on learning how to quote. Retard

aliexpress has good stuff you have to look for, but expect to wait a month or so for it to arrive if you don't get EMS shipping

Where is [PLEBSPOTTERS] when you need them

Pleb question:
Pc --usb--> smsl su-8 --xlr--> 2x hypex nc400 --> speakers
Anything missing in that chain? Do nc400 modules not need a preamp or does the dac work as a preamp?

>smsl su-8
if you can change the volume on that dac, then you can use it as a preamp

What's the default rec for music speakers? Like it used to be the jbl lsr305 but they've clearly fallen out of favor.
Also what do you guys think of HIVI diy speaker kits on amazon?

mackie, elac, and klipsch
>diy speaker kits
very good value, DIY kits help you learn to make your own speakers and can even be better than a few name speakers at or below a similar price point

then rec me a kit homie? I want insane flawless audio that gives me goose bumps and makes me weep but I only have $500

Tesla coil

here's some to look at
daytonaudio.com/index.php/loudspeaker-components/speaker-subwoofer-kits/speaker-kits/br-1-6-1-2-2-way-monitor-kit-pair.html
parts-express.com/samba-mt-bookshelf-speaker-kit-with-knock-down-cabinet--300-7121
parts-express.com/amiga-mt-tower-speaker-kit-with-knock-down-cabinet--300-7124
parts-express.com/samba-mt-bookshelf-speaker-kit-with-knock-down-cabinet--300-7121
I don't know about goosebumps, but maybe weep. The two parts express links are for single speakers, so you'll need to buy a pair if you go with either of them but the daytonaudio link is for a pair. Spend the rest of your money on a decent amp and DAC.

I'm on it captain

What am i even looking at? what's the topology here?

cheap crappy desktop speakers i believe

Any good books on speaker systems?

Hey Audiophile general.
This might sound rhetorical but it's a real conundrum I'm facing-

You have staff wanting to listen to a certain radio station in the office, it's only available via digital, you have a choice of two sources:
256kbps CBR mpeg layer 2 audio (not even mp3)
64kbps abr HE-AAC2

There is no middle ground, this station is a 64kbps average DAB+ (he-aac) or on DVB-T Audio (mpeg layer 2 audio)
The DAB+ stream is also rebroadcast online.

Which would you pick?
Why?

Are the KEF LS50 still the best speakers bellow 1k$? Has the new stuff surpassed them? It's been almost 7 yearts since their release?

they've never been

So what was/is?

Can I destroy an active speaker by putting too much volume into the 3.5mm input? I want to clip it for distorted sound.

You have to spend at least 50k on speakers to get good sound. If you can’t afford that to headphones.

send it a clipped signal if you want distorted sound

32omh

Any way to do this in software?

You want to destroy it of play a clipped signal on t?
if destroy what part exactly?

Thank you user, you sent me on the right path. Have exactly what I want now.

Enjoy your distorted sound.

I've been having an issue with my setup lately and was hoping one of you fellow autists knew what the problem could be could be.
I have a Focusrite 2i2 interface hooked up to a pair of JBL 305s which keeps crashing to Win10 BSOD on Win10 at random. Usually happens when I have Youtube or Spotify running, but has been happening more frequently since hooking up the monitors. I tried reinstalling all the drivers but crashes still happen constantly.
The interface is connected via usb 3.0 hub to a dock, which is hooked up to my laptop - any ideas, or should i just get a new interface altogether? From what I've found online, it seems like Focusrite drivers are just complete trash

Attached: BSOD.jpg (2160x2160, 1.08M)

Try uninstalling focusrite drivers and use windows universal usb drivers?

Awesome, thanks for this. I'm seeing videos of SimulAnalog with cabinet GUIs but the VSTs i from that link don't have them, any idea why?

Also, check what stop code it is.

move aside

800 series was supposed to replace a80
but mastering engineers mostly prefer a80
dunno why they all say a80 is better

a80 multychannel

Oh cmon, you're telling me good sound starts at 50k... I call bullshit

Would a Fosi TB20A work for these?

Why aren't you doing research on massless speakers user?

with roon you can do everything you can imagine
you don’t need hardware dsp

you do if you want to create an active crossover to seperate speakers and subwoofer

depends on what kind of outputs you have at your disposal

active speakers don’t need to be dsp based
the best active studio monitors are all analog based
ATC, PMC, ME Geithain, PSI ...
