tfw i found my insane ddr3 g.skill cl9 2400mhz 4x4gb kit at my parent's house. This shit is still fucking sick. Considering putting it on my RIVF x79 board.

Attached: speccy 2.png (1070x530, 47K)

Just found a stick of samsung 4gb ddr3 PC3 10600 ram and checked one of my laptops in cpu-z i suspected was ddr3 and

ddr3 pc3 12800 kingston in single slot config, so i think i have a slot free, is it worth putting the 4gb chip in? for 12gb ram?

far as i understand the bios will lower the speed on the 8gb to 10600 to match the samsung 4gb chip, but it should work right?

Fuck it im gonna open it and give it a whirl. Will report back in.

Yeah nope, 19 screws to get the bottom plate off and the ram is on the other side, and its an ultra book so the keyboard doesnt pop off either, id literally have to take 100 screws out and 90% of the ribbon cables off to access the other side for the sake of putting 4gb extra ram in, which might not even work anywy.

Fuck that. If it was 4gb i might have bothered wasting 90 mins, but nope.

>pic related what i was faced with after 19 or 20 screws.

Attached: Nope.jpg (1280x853, 211K)

Just not worth the effort to put 20 bux worth of extra ram in imo. Literally have to remove 90% of the fucking shit inside the case.

Attached: fuckyouimlazy.jpg (800x547, 105K)

>went with the non-Ti because he needed that 2% increase in single core
You're actually retarded.

Real NEET poorfag reporting in.

SHIT NIGGA HE GOT A BAZOOKA

Literary the cheapest mATX option available at the time for instant local pickup.

If I gave the ol' PC a good clean and looked at the cooling a touch, or maybe not even that really, I could easily rock my way up to 4.5+GHz as well. I can't believe how this old chip is still hanging on so well after all these years.

Attached: stillrockinsandyspeccy.jpg (744x517, 100K)

Payed 230€ for it
Got the whole pc for 120€ at an company auction for old cad pcs. Threw in the new gpu for 80€ from black Friday sales. By selling the old for and getting new one with overall 30€ loss on an eBay auction the day after new years when no one was bidding.

>over a thousand bux worth of hardware
>poorfag
Kys.

It was actually a few hundred yuro below a thousand if you don't include the peripherals. Some of it is used, like the Vega 56, but in warranty. The CPU and memory were on sale.

What are you doing on Jow Forums? This is a 15 minute job.
Plus stop buying shit.

Jesus Christ I'm and even wat I spent is a bit much for me considering I'm working min wage and could've visited friends who left the country and party with them.

>Card expert

Is that a chink brand ?

the monitor is literally a triple A battery

Attached: speccy x79.png (1474x525, 167K)

Stop the hyperbole, Its not a fiften minute job, the time between my posts there was 20 mins to remove the screws and have a look, and im not an incompetent tard. It would have taken an hour-90 mins at my estimations because i would have basically have had to remove everything. Which isnt hard, its just retarded ram placement.

I've added/swapped/replaced countless ram and drives over the years and its never been more than a 10 minute job, the retarded design of that laptop is the way it was engineered to be super thin obviously, its not very conducive to user serviceability.

I wasnt saying it was hard, i was saying it was pointless ballache to basically fucking disassemble half of a 17 inch ultrabook just to add 4gb of ram which costs 20 bux, which might not even work in the first place, the computer is also three or four years old, So as for it being a peice of shit, perhaps, i needed a large screen, lightweight and thin high end multimedia capable laptop for a particular purpose at the time and ive had zero issues with it, there were not many choices other than macbook pro and or razer blade 17, its still trucking

>pic related, shit aparently.

Attached: gs70.jpg (1811x1200, 426K)

>>pic related, shit aparently.
Not only shit, but "overpriced shit"*
Also I think you mean "apparently"*

Poorfag and a pedant, wow.

That's my secret, OP. I'm always poor.

Attached: spc.png (1514x536, 147K)

Show me what i should have bought in late 2014 mid 15 that had.

2.5ghz i7, at least a 970m, twin ssds( 2x 256gb ), a sata bay (7400pm 1tb hd). gigabit ethernet, 4x usb (2x usb 3.0) 2 display port outs and a hdmi out, weighed approx 2.5kg or less, less than 25mm thick, has a 17 inch 1080p or better screen was under 2000 dollars.

I'll wait because the nearest things at the time were high spec mac books, razer blade etc and a few other laptops all of which cost 500-1000 dollars more with similar spec.

Macbook pros were running 2000-2500 and had a 750m at the time.

cool babbling bro, by the time it took you to type that i've replaced every single component in my thinkpad
enjoy your shittop

Pretty dope 2014/2015 gaming rig, desu

poor man's laptop

Attached: spekih2019.jpg (692x564, 95K)

It runs I'd say 90% of the games I want to run at max settings. The other 10% is maybe a few current AAA's that I have to run at low or worse lol.

Not bad for paying $300 CAD (Minus the drives) for it lol.

>only 300 for a box with a Z97 board in it
That's fucking sick.

Yeah when the dude only wanted $300 for everything I was a bit paranoid.

Dude had upgraded to a fucking beast of a rig and wanted some pocket change I guess, lucked out lol.

I thought it was to good to be true when I got a used 7970 with the box for $65 on ebay, but it was true, the deals just happen sometimes.

Attached: 4.jpg (1200x1600, 486K)

poorfags rise up

Attached: Captre.jpg (894x736, 143K)

worst combination ever

lolwut you tellin me i can sell this card for 65usd 8 years later ?
i have the exact same model btw, was my first graphics card ever, still use it in between buying/selling newer graphics cards and in the winter to heat my room (but unironically)

Attached: 47 - wF467k4.jpg (383x349, 32K)

Fuck yeah you can, I'd appreciate it if you did sell it to another for cheap, because a 7970 is 80 to 100 dollars.

Attached: 3.jpg (1600x1200, 379K)

user user please take a picture of the thing you attach on your door that says "do not disturb gamer inside" or something of the sort, i remember it being in the box but i lost it a long time ago
i wanna be 12 again please

Attached: Best+ahegao+face+thread+_0c5fe8335d5face4bebe93961a814064.jpg (300x290, 24K)

Actually, it's SpeedSys.

Attached: speccy.png (673x529, 27K)

I don't think mine has it either, the last door hanger either, it sits on top of everything when you unbox and it's not there, I'm just lucky to even have a box because people want $100 for their sapphire 7970s with the box and goodies.

Attached: 1.jpg (1200x1600, 440K)

>the last door hanger either
Man I gotta stop phoneposting.

My nigga

>tfw shitposting on glorious Dell C640 Pentium 4 laptop with 3hr battery life and serial port for tuning standalone Megasquirt ECU

I'm actually looking at building an IBM variant with these specs for that car, to keep it period, and because muh Formula 1

Attached: spec.jpg (1024x768, 103K)

ah crap, i still have the box and most of the stuff but i didn't think i'd wanna have the rest 8 years later
enjoy it anyway user, still running like the first day here, hell of a beast

:3

Attached: System.png (1631x931, 181K)

The 7970 was an incredible card, people suck kepler's dick but the 7970 is still getting it done, the GTX 680 get spanked today by the 3GB frame buffer of the 7970 anf gets slapped even more if it's a 7970 GHz.

>Last Intel HEDT platform to run 7
Based, I like my FX rig cause it's fast and runs 7 but it doesn't get any better than a Haswell.

I was using the pentium II 400mhz system for about 3 days, but now I've suspended use to a media player through a crt television. The best browser I found is links -g, or firefox 3.6 if you need javascript. and firefox 48ish if you need something modern, but it's slow af.
I tried 2 or 3 linux distros, but none of them were as compatible and could do what I wanted as well as windows xp. kernel 2.4 or 2.6 works best on this hardware but is no longer supported and a pain in the ass to install software for.

>through out

I can't get speccy or hwinfo to run, they instantly fail or crash the system so here's this instead.

Here's me being retarded.

Attached: notspeccy.jpg (899x550, 94K)

what's the program ?
how do you guys live on so little ram

Attached: Screenshot_2019-01-28_21-42-05.png (962x690, 121K)
