>want to buy a new PC >Nvidia's 2000-series is stupidly overpriced but performs well >AMD's offering is just shit in general but doesn't rape the wallet >1000-series would be ideal but stocks dwindling or straight up depleted, raising prices How long do I have to wait for Nvidia to either slash prices or get their head out of their ass and release RTX-less cards? Alternatively, how long will it take for AMD to sort out its GPU division?
just buy second hand to hold you over for 2 years or something

>buying the latest and greatest only brainlets like OP would do such a thing. Just get an RX580 and wait for Navi 2
Levi Cooper
>buy now and buy the latest and greatest later

>architectures consist only of high end cards (You)

What are you saying you fucking idiot?

scour the internet for deals several times a day. i did this for weeks while staying current on hardware news (gamers nexus, mainly) just before nvidia dropped "full" details about the 2000 series, so i knew ahead of time that something was wrong with the marketing. i really lucked out, some retards were afraid prices would plummet and i got a brand new 1080ti for a great price. no buyers remorse from me, not now and not ever. even if i hadn't gotten this deal i would not have bought a 2000 series card, shit is way too expensive for what it is and RTX is a gimmick as it stands
Caleb Campbell
I regret not snatching up the 4-500 dollar 1080tis now

really? >CPUs are cheap and give great performance for your money >RAM prices have finally come down a lot since last year >SSDs have never been cheaper >Used GPUs are plentiful and cheap due to the mining boom bursting it's actually a pretty good time to build or upgrade a computer
she's saying that you really don't need a high-end graphics card to play games. benchmarks in industry "benchmark" sites give the impression you do because they test on ultra high everything-turned-on settings. I use a RX570 to play on 4K. It's fine. A used or even new 1060 or RX570 isn't very expensive.
>>>Used GPUs are plentiful and cheap due to the mining boom bursting >buying a mining GPU Don't do this >she.
Xavier Gutierrez
I dont disagree but the point I made was that the person said dont buy the latest and greatest but then said buy the latest and greatest, just wait for it.
John Gray
>Don't do this You don't have to buy a used GPU that's been used for mining. Want to sell your GPU? Guess what, you'll have to list it next to 100 other GPUs that were used for mining. So what would you have to do to get that 1060 sold now that you've been suckered into buying the RTX 2060 even though that was more of a side-grade than an upgrade? You'll have to sell it around the price all the other GPUs are going for.
Buying a used GPU isn't that hard, just look around until you find some spoiled brat who's parents bought him a slightly better GPU so he could get 5 more fps in Fortnite.

>How long do I have to wait for Nvidia to either slash prices or get their head out of their ass and release RTX-less cards? A midrange (sub RTX 2060) version of Turing should be coming soon-ish. I wouldn't necessarily expect non-RTX Turing to exist at higher performance tiers, that would be going against NVIDIA's own interest to push RTX and dooming it to absolute irrelevancy. I do not think they're willing to give up so early, but perhaps they'll cut prices on RTX a bit if they get desperate enough. They are pretty retarded though, the ridiculous prices already harmed their reputation significantly, so "RTX" as a brand will be hurting anyway despite the cards themselves not being bad at all (could've used more VRAM though).

new gpus seem to have gone down too, but that might be distortion from my local scene, got a refurbished rx580 last year that died mid november, with the refund I was able to buy the same model but 8gb new
Lincoln Phillips
How is Vega 56 shit?
Easton Lopez
>RTX 2060 even though that was more of a side-grade than an upgrade? Are you kidding? A 2060 is like 50-60% faster than a 6GB 1060.
Ethan James
I got a 2070 for 400€ in POORtugal new, I don't know if that's cheap
Dominic Murphy
There are literally no games out worth paying the premium for a high end system.

this user here also from poortugal, what are the odds (outside /sp/ I mean)?
