It's all an elaborate scam, IMO. He's playing the long game by stringing suckers along, so he can get as much money as possible.

Anyone know of a high quality mouse with a good amount of buttons that's sensible looking and doesn't have a flashy gaymer design?

Also, why are mouse buttons so different than mechanical keyboard keys?

switches for mouse buttons need to be much smaller than keyboard switches. Also, the keyboard can rest on the desk with your hands hovering over them while your hand actually rests on the mouse, so it needs lower profile buttons as well.
logitech G600 is still a "gaming" mouse but it's not too flashy and it has 12 thumb buttons, maybe check that out

Are there any light (up to 55g bottom-out) tactile switches that don't suck? Or do I have to go for slightly heavier and much more expensive ones like Zealios?

Orange Alps

I guess I should have specified that I'm looking for MX-style switches.

>MX-style switches that don't suck
Sorry bro

MX linears don't suck

But all their tactiles definitely do

Linears are good though.

What the fuck am I looking at? "Mistakes" happen but I have trouble grasping what was meant to be achieved, and at what point that hypothetical activity went wrong so as to qualify as a "mistake".

What's a "good amount" of buttons to you? A Mouse 4 and Mouse 5? In that case, Zowie EC1-B or EC2-B.

any keysets that have row 4 f1 keys printed on the row 4 number keys?

I am guessing the switches are in backwards but I don't know either, it's reaching levels of autism heretofore unknown.

should i get a vortex pok3r for my first mechanical keyboard yes or no

yes

My best guess is they wanted to change switches but didn't have desoldering equipment, so instead they decided to get a fucking angle grinder and cut all the switches in half, ruining them and the pcb but hopefully allowing them to reuse the plate - but they still fucked up and bent the plate

Full size best size

Topre

Bet, it's a wrap then.

>dogshit programmability
You'll regret it

rgb version or nah though? don't wanna look too much like a gaymer but also my room is very dark and i usually am up all night so idk

what would you suggest then? I want a 60% for sure. The vortex is kind of pricey but i figured it would be better than getting something like the Ducky mini.

why is this general so scared to build their own keyboard

its all a bunch of shillers for bigger companies trying to convince each other to buy their keyboards

d i y

I build my own boards at least.

Attached: IMG_20190119_183732.jpg (3264x1836, 1.46M)

because i've never done it before and i don't want to invest that much time in it. I'll build my own when i'm ready fuck off.

From a practical point of view, if you want to see at night, you want strictly white backlighting. RGB leds are actually bad at making proper white light, and you don't need rainbow illumination to see properly in the dark - at least I personally find it horrible and distracting.
Is a tada68 too big for you? It's got QMK. Plus proper white backlighting.

Can you do basic soldering? If yes, you can build a keyboard. It's really not hard and allows you to tweak everything to your liking.

Because only so many people are here to stay and get into making their own, while in comparison absolute crowds of people pop in just once to get a recommendation and have absolutely no desire to spend the extra effort figuring out how to build their own. A person only has so much time in their life, some people choose to invest that into building keyboards but others have completely different things they want to do instead.

Ah okay, thanks, Looking at reviews of the G600

>What's a "good amount" of buttons to you?
I honestly have no idea what I want, just figured more buttons = better. I have an old IBM scrollpoint mouse which is nice since it matches my Model M and other beige keebs but it's a ball mouse so I rarely use it. Maybe what my heart wants is beige.

Attached: s-l1600.jpg (1600x896, 210K)

That's fair. i'm not really into the rainbow flashy lights or anything like that. A soft light in the background would be nice though.

And I have no idea I've never looked into them. But I'll give it a look. Thank you.

I can, yes. But I don't even know what I like yet.

I'd recommend a simple hotswap kit and some sets of switches to try out. Then when you figure out what you like best, build your own board exactly to your liking.

Don't do what I did and swap all the switches in a prebuilt fullsize board with switch-mounted LEDs.

>G600
Best mouse if you want "a lot of buttons", the drawback being logitech's rather shitty configuring software. (At least unlike razer it's got proper onboard memory so once you have it the way you like you can uninstall the software.)
>steelseries rival 500
Best mouse I found in terms of shape of buttons, but it's overpriced to fuck and back and also doesn't have that many buttons.
>elecom deft pro or huge
Best trackballs I've found that satisfy a need for "a lot of buttons". It's not nearly as much as on a G600 or something but it's more than on pretty much any other trackball.

Take it from a fellow button-on-mouse autist

Get yourself one of these

kbdfans.cn/collections/60/products/kbdfans-kbd6x-hot-swap-pcb

And pick any one of these

kbdfans.cn/collections/60-layout-case

One of the first five options here

kbdfans.cn/search?q=60% plate

A 104 kit of these

kbdfans.cn/collections/keyboard-stabilizer/products/gmk-screw-in-stabilizers

then add switches and keycaps of your choice

>Don't do what I did and swap all the switches in a prebuilt fullsize board with switch-mounted LEDs.
Seconding. I did it to my tada, can't recommend, much less on a fucking fullsize.

I think I'm leaning towards a beige mouse, maybe the keytronic. Thanks tho

I used a Cooler Master Quickfire TK with brown switches before, but my little brother ended up receiving it at some point.

Just ordered 70 purple Zealios V2.

Decide which kit I should put them in.
I need my arrow keys, but don't want a function key row.

Tada68, or a Z70 if you want hotswap and rainbow puke.

I use a Poker 2 with browns at work and home currently and am thinking of purchasing a HHKB Pro 2 for my main home computer. Help me make a decision.

Corsair Switch Cherry Mx or corsair k63. It's not too expensive where I live and my keyboard is dying. Should I go for it? I can't spend a lot now. I also dislike rgb

Topre

Dude holy pandas are a thing and they don't suck! They are the best tactile switch ever made. And new zelio v2sare definitely up there too! MX just can't be beat.

>HHKB Pro 2
I recommend FC660C or FC980C instead.

They're still inherently linear in design.

Attached: Pj05fzN.jpg (4640x2610, 937K)

Doesn't matter as long as it feels good and performs great. You might say "Alps better cause le tactile leaf plate" but it is flawed due to it's low operation life of only 10mil presses and open housing which just vacuums dust and ceases the switch. MX has continued to get better while Alps just stagnated and was rightfully forgotten.

I was looking at the Z70 primarily for the hotswap functionality and split spacebar design.

My only question about it is, is do you know if the PCB has slots for the two stabilizer stems
>pic related

Attached: TinyBoners.png (289x338, 202K)

Most overplayed keycap set next to gmk carbon. More like gmk IKEA. I wish people got better tastes in keycap sets.

I just wish GMK would stop being the go to meme to be honest. More PBT please.

Pretty much everything does, and you can always just cut them off or buy plate-mount switch variants.

At least SA shines uniformely but the stems snap too frequently. GMK shine is absolutely disgusting. MT3 shows promise.

>Cherry G80
>get keycaps from WASD
>Caps lock and space bar are non-standard so now I'm stuck with two black keys in a purple/white mix

Fuck sake.

MT3 is pretty great. Guess we'll see in 6 months how susuwatari turns out.

MT3 sounds and feels like ass

I'm that guy who wants to build a dactyl manuform soon and I wanted to try a couple things but wanted to hear if anyone has had experience with them.
Has anyone used the Amoeba Single-Switch PCBs from keebio? (pic related) I've done hand wired before on a flat plate and wondered if these would make the process easier in the dactyl manuform or if it's just an extra step and extra money. I'm not putting LEDs in, so I wouldn't get it for that feature.
Does anyone have experience with the Proton C (or other ARM based boards)? I was thinking of getting one for the master side and a pro micro for the slave side. I know I need to tie the pro micro's vcc to the 5v pin on the proton c since the arm chip only takes 3.3v I think.
Also is there any way to generate the model on Windows? I use linux on my shitty laptop and in a virtual machine, but I'd rather just do it native on my desktop if I can.

Rocking some Lubed Orange Alps now on a tofu 60%

Attached: 20190131_154733.jpg (4032x3024, 863K)

Umm good for you?

>build quality
>layout
>thock
>good feeling of oneness with cup rubber
>made in Japan

I noticed the cream switches on kbdfans, but they're expensive as fuck. What's the deal? Is POM that great? Worth trying out, do you think?

I do plan on using single switch PCBs for the future ones I'll build. Guess I'll let you know how much easier it makes things. As for the model, you can just use openscad & leiningen on windows. Last I checked the proton C doesn't work for split boards yet.

Attached: IMG_20181107_161311.jpg (3264x1572, 1.21M)

I mean, I don't really need dedicated arrow keys and the Pro 2 hits the rest of those points

disgusting

Nice onahole review.

I don't know if it will look too gamer for you but the g503 is my favorite mouse. It fits my hand nicely and a good amount of buttons.

desu you're right about the people arguing about prebuilt mechanical keyboards. I got into using mechanical keyboards because of the whole "they feel better" meme and, sure, a nice mechanical keyboard is higher quality and can feel better than a low cost rubber dome membrane but looking back, it really is a meme. To spend hundreds on a keyboard that is pretty close to the same as other standard boards that are much cheaper just because "they feel better" is ridiculous for most people. Now, I only get mechanical keyboards for specific features that I can't get from something cheaper or something prebuilt.

nvm about using the ubuntu app for windows, it doesn't flash

I've been using keyboard since I was baby in 88 and I don't understand the feel argument. Rubber domes are fine and it's just a god damn tool at the end of the day. As long as the fucking thing can communicate typed characters to the system, what does it matter? Bunch of kids spending mommy and daddy's money. Consumerist culture at its worst. Reminds me of the people that plop down over 2k for a high end guitar and can't even bother to learn to play anything properly. They just stare at that shit and then stick it in the closet. It's not going to help you code better. It won't make that essay easier to put together. And lord knows no one gives a fuck what tool you used to put together the end product as long as it works.

HHKB isn't plate mounted

get a ducky and fuck off

So? Unless you mash your fucking keys like an autistic hulk this shouldn't matter.

I spilled water on a varmillo va87m, and it no longer works. The case and key caps are just fine, could I just replace the logic board and switches? Or would it not be worth the trouble

Just stop. Why are you wasting everyone's time with this shit? Look, she doesn't care about you and buying a new fancy thing isn't going to make your situation any better. Just focus on yourself and get an education for fuck's sake. They're not going to be supporting you forever.

It matters to me. If it doesn't matter to you – okay.

Attached: case or plate mount.png (856x995, 261K)

Again, unless you are pounding your keys like a retard, it makes no difference. If I were you I would re-examine my typing technique before you strain yourself.

What is an integrated plate? Anyways, flex is a desirable quality.

I'm about to graduate actually, didn't have time to take the course on DIY mechanical keyboards sorry.

What's this?

Abel TKL

Attached: eOSbrVI.jpg (2584x1724, 392K)

fucking casual you cant use a non-plate mounted kb as a weapon

get the hell out and buy a mac

My country is shit. It only has off brand mechanical keyboards or shitty overexpensive "gamer keyboards". Having a good keyboard will be so expensive right now, since I bought a Mi 8 pro. I'm so sad

I guess you haven't used Topre switches before? Not all thocks are created equal.
>What is an integrated plate?
I'm not familiar with that, but the HHKB is just PCB and plastic
>Anyways, flex is a desirable quality.
Personal preference, maybe. Typing on a steel plate feels and sounds good.

if you are at a fucking desk why the fuck would you choose to use some shitty rectangular blunt object as a weapon when you more than likely have scissors, letter openers, and paperclips at your disposal? SHAKING MY DAMN HEAD YALL

Attached: RAMA-C-RAMA-HHKB-MX-01.382.jpg (1500x844, 93K)

looks like it's plate mounted. you would have to desolder every switch, which is a huge pain. then you would have to find a new pcb for it anyway. up to you i guess

Attached: ByYKCkp.jpg (5475x3652, 2.53M)

Why the fuck would you EVER buy clear plastic? That shit ALWAYS degrades faster.

Its polycarbonate

I see, makes sense

going for some keycaps from dumpster diving is fun

Attached: k83-1.jpg (2672x1503, 1013K)

couldn't agree more. there is nothing wrong with a decent, low-cost rubber dome. Since mechanical switches are self contained, they can be wired up in any configuration, so mechanical keyboards to me are all about creative designs and ergonomics with some innovations and DIY opportunities. That's what a community like this should be about instead of the elitist "my expensive manufactured keyboard is better than yours" shit
