I guess that's why they turned Firefox into a Chrome clone.

The tracker blocking is redundant if you use the right filter lists in ublock origin, it just slows it.

Is Firefox the ultimate brainlet filter?

Well, it's not optimal, but at least you can do it.

That's true, but it's still a shitty dick move of Mozilla that makes me not trust them. If they cared about privacy, everything that transmitted any data in any form back to the mothership would be strictly opt-in, not opt-out. Privacy, like security, should be the default setting.

It's pointless to focus on the official versions of platforms like Firefox and Chrome when there is a fork of one or the other that comes with whatever level of privacy you desire... Ungoogled Chromium is a nice compromise between functionality and privacy/security, and if you want autistically super fine-grained control over it you can slap Librefox configs into IceCat.

At the end of the day though, the Firefox *platform* gives you the best level of control over your privacy and security, this is indisputable. You can take a default Firefox installation and make it as secure as aforementioned IceCat+Librefox if you want to take the time to do so.

What am I supposed to tell people when they ask why I use Firefox instead of Chrome? When I say I don't want to be part of Google's botnet they just laugh.

Just say you always used it and are comfortable with it. If they are normal people they won't bother you further.

Say exactly that but just use different terms. "I don't accept Google's privacy policy". If they laugh, ask if they've read it, and if they know what it allows Google to do.

i many cases the vpn decreases privacy of tor, unless you trust it 100% and it's not hackable

>it's not ACKSHUALLY disabled! you have to flip this other setting HERE to ACKSHUALLY disable it!
but that's true though
about:config is about as shitty as CLI: obscurity through undocumented setting variety

>We are building this infrastructure and mindset that would be perfect for a malicious despot to abuse, and the most ridiculous thing is that we are just doing it to serve ads

also got a 49 on firefox 60
also i wouldn't even call this a good benchmark, of course the kike browser is going to handle repeated, huge javascript actions faster. They're an entire corporation dedicated to pushing their own javascript engine, their own browser, their own protocols, and their own media platforms all of which they self-optimize for and have been repeatedly caught intentionally de-optimizing other rendering and javascript engines for. Saying "chrome does javascript faster" is utterly meaningless because of course it would be, they lie and cheat and monopolize to make sure everybody uses their engine and their javascript libraries and designs everything around working best on their browser.
If somebody at jewgle catches wind of this website they'll probably merge a sneaky commit to optimize chromium for the benchmark too.

If you don't see the fundamental problems of a monopolistic internet giant whose sole purpose is to collect information about you and now has the literal keys to the internet with their total browser, search, and free media dominance, then you're so stupid even an american public school wouldn't let you into their special ed program

What's the difference between Speedometer 1.0 and 2.0? On the former I get ~115, on the latter ~70.

What's your point? The result depends on your hardware, but Firefox always scores lower than blink. That's a fact and I'm a Firefox shill.

Think what you want of Mozilla but they DID make their browser and it's engine as private as possible and they're the only browser devs that give a shit about privacy.

imagine being that deluded
Firefox is spyware, has ads integrated into it, pocket is a privacy nightmare.
It can be a perfect browser, but the opt-OUT process is very convoluted and requires about:config fiddling

Paid shill is paid

Use brave.

That's not even the implication. You're just saying that to get attention.

If that were the case, then I'd reply to (You) in some witty fashion trying to dispel that notion.
Nope, one big happy family. :^)

what else?

The ghacks user.js is pretty thorough. but you do have to go through the whole thing and decide which of the settings you want and which you don't.

This is a pain but I don't think it can really be made much easier, the file is filled with comments explaining what everything does and flagging the ones that might break stuff.

last windows release five months ago...

>Windows
>caring about privacy

Kek

I don't know much about webdev and this whole thing is intimidating.
Basically I backup my profile in .mozilla/firefox, replace it with the ghacks .default with a user.js fitting my level of autism?

Tbh I'd be copy pasting since I have no idea what I'm doing.

chromium.woolyss.com/

This is Jow Forums, if you are a fucking brainlet and cannot do about:config you shouldn't be fiddling with any browser except chrome

nah, you just put the user.js in your profile folder. If you want things to go back to the way they were, you remove it from that folder and restart FF.

all that the file is doing is setting about:config things. Firefox executes the user.js file at start up, all the user_pref() functions just twiddle settings like you could on the about:config page.

ok thanks

Found the guy who hasn't used win 10. The de-bloat process takes less time than it does to install all of the extra software you need to make Win 7 usable. The Win 10 tracking is something literally no one cares about beyond this board

>The company behind the technology understands how hostile its technology is to users, and thus tries to hide what is being done by making it difficult to investigate by detecting whether the browser's developer console is opened, and when it detects it is opened, it ceases completely to make use of the obfuscation mechanism. The developer console-detecting code works only for Chromium-based browsers however, and therefore the obfuscation technology is not used when using Firefox (a different web page is served for Firefox).

>browser speed tests
not really. there's sites like Jow Forums which is just a bunch of mostly static text formatted with some CSS. There's absolutely not point in doing a browser benchmark to get Jow Forums to "be faster" or load faster, it doesn't matter what browser you use. if you turn some of the default spying off then firefox is a fine choice for sites like this as well as news sites and things like that.

Now try logging into a site with lots of JavaScript and on-the-fly generated content like Tradingview. That's s site where you can look up charts for stocks and currencies and whatever and use tools to draw lines, fib levels and whatever on various time-frames. I've got a Ryzen 2600 and a RX580 and I seriously can't use Firefox on that site. It's just too slow. I use chromium for that site and a few more like it because it really is a whole lot faster. There's a big difference and it is really noticeable. I don't need a benchmark like
to tell me that - but those numbers really do reflect real world performance. They aren't meaningless.

I always thought they got shittier because you guys along with Reddit and many other sites triggered the big guys of Mozilla and now they're fucking shit up and burning it all because no one really likes it anymore and they no longer give a shit.
But many people still use it because it is popular and it just werks on the surface.

Kinda like Debian, I don't know?

that is totally unacceptable. no wonder firecuck is losing users. a serious browser needs ti be per-configured to perfection, like chrome.

my time is important, so i don't have time to fuck around with settings. i want to be able to watch gay porn instantly, thank you very much.

boomers have to get it through their thick skulls that their counter-productive ways are getting in the way of progress. stop hanging on to these ancient concepts of "settings" and "doing things yourself" - it's the current year for black's sake...
