Post hoarding/deals you picked up

X99, X58 and X79 board. All ASUS. 8 have a lot of ddr3 but no ddr4 or CPUs for the x99 and x79. Ideally I'd put a 10 core in the x99 and an 8 core in the X79.

All of these are used. But i clean them with electronics cleaner and replace all thermal pads and thermal pastes. Looking brand spanking new and perform ebinly. I'm particularly impressed with x58, got a xeon 5675 in that and it clocks to 4.6ghz on air easily. Performs really well too.

I have a lot of GPUs
And a bunch of motherboards
Enough DDR2 to literally make a pillow out of
Just shitloads of pc stuff, mainly older hardware

Nice man! No newer stuff that still holds up today?

There is nothing wrong with a lot of older hardware.

Although I had a z77 board die on me the other week. For no apparent reason. Worked and then _not_worked, (tried swapping CPU RAM PSU everything)

It can be fun to mess around with. I build computers constantly just for the fun of it. But I'm to much of an autismo to turn it into a business. (as in reselling them and not just hoarding the shit)

>But I'm to much of an autismo to turn it into a business. (as in reselling them and not just hoarding the shit)

I'm the same. The entire selling and buying process makes me anxious. Especially if you have to send the thing. Idk. But yea, i enjoy playing with hardware and try shit out. I have Ryzen but currently using my other x79 mobo with a 3930k. Love all these older Intel HEDT platforms.

There's no money to be made in making them. People will waste your time sending shit back on Ebay and everyone wants something for nothing on cl and other sites like that.

It is not so much making money. But just recovering the costs. Since I don't really care to use all these computers to much.

Then it's easy. Just be prepared to sell the parts 2 or 3 times because of scammers. I had a guy that took a hammer to a video card so he could say it was broken because it wasn't as big of an upgrade as he thought it would be.

What the fuck? Did you pay him back?

I had to. Ebay has really good protection for BUYERS at the expense of sellers.

Great, now you can get those cheap Xeons for them. Those boards are rare for this reason.

thats very niggerlicious

Sadly the 8 core x79 xeons are not cheap ;_;, and i'm unaware of any xeons that are worthwhile for the x99.

I'm posting on that exact board in the middle right now. I need to get a 6 core for it. It's still stronk but I kinda regret not waiting a bit for Sandy Bridge.

It's a sick board honestly. Put an x5675 or something in it and you can clock it to 4.5ghz easily. Honestly could not notice the difference between that and a 2700x for my uses. Admittedly my uses are light vidya and shitpostings.

Damn user, I have enough parts to build one FX8350 rig with a used 7970 and I think I have a problem hoarding.

Dem cards.

its everything from original voodoo's to pascal

some notable examples on the shelf are a nvidia 7800GS, the last agp card
1.8gb sparkle GTX 275
Asus HD 4870x2 Top Edition (booty card)
a fuckin Duke Nukem special edition GTX 560
the evga geforce4 ti 4600 facing up with the quadros
speaking of quadros, theres a FX 5600, which is a 1.5gb 8800 ultra
the rx9250 is the tiny agp card with the heatsink shaped like the msi logo
the card with the water block is a GTX 760ti

theres a bunch of weird shit in there
but ive got a lot of random shit, not just gpus, ive got weird motherboards and old psus, boxes of processors, weird PC accessories

one of my favorite pieces of old hardware is this 500w ultra x-connect from 2002, its a modular power supply with UV reactive cables, here it is tossed into a box of random parts with a cathode light to show off the glow

Attached: ultra.jpg (4032x3024, 789K)

not to mention just hoards of other shit
the silver PC in the center is a z270 system with a corsair rm1000x im not using because i like my identical one thats in a gold case even if its haswell with a gtx 680 and shit
the open drawer on the left is all ram, everything from sub 1mb simms to ddr4, along with windows vista and xp, theres some usb sticks with linux distros and other stuff in there
ive got another whole box of different operating systems, including things like CD distributed copies of homemade linux distros like "super gamer linux" along with developer copies of windows OS's

the metis case and white box above it are filled with motherboards, atx in the metis box, itx boards in the white box
next to the white box is a DFI lanparty PC transpo, bondage gear for your pc to bring it around town with you like a retard
right open drawer is all sound cards, everything from an original adlib card to a couple more modern soundblasters

of course above that is the SGI indy, theres two Z61m's, a G40 and latitude e6410

Attached: shit.jpg (1000x750, 176K)

Nice latitude, I've got an E6400 with a Core 2 duo, much better design that their sandy bridge one.

heres just a closet, its not all random pc shit but its a lot of pc shit
multiple vic-20's and accessories, on the 2nd to top shelf on the right is the box of ultra x-connect cables, on top of that is a syquest drive, below that on the lower shelf are 88mb syquest drives, all working
an acer ferrari laptop, because fuck yeah why not?
on top of that acer ferrari laptop and below the vic-20 users guide is an hp journada handheld PC
shelf below that has a DFI lanparty NF2 ultra b, the converse box is entirely wifi adapters and video cables
ignore my bitchin vans, in the black tote other than the beanie babies is a bunch of original documentation by a microsoft developer that documents all of early windows 98's bugs and quirks, its like 600 pages printed out of text

not much else going on visibly in here, on the shelf with the joystick theres the thinkpad 380ED and above it is my 701C with the AMD X-5 processor, one of maybe a dozen that still exist, and mine was damaged by a leaking battery, hence why its wrapped up in an antistatic bag, so it doesnt leak on everything
its toast but i like having it around just in case one day i want to try and replace the board

Attached: shit2.jpg (750x1000, 176K)

heres super gamer linux
among other early 2000's and late 90's disk copies of linux people made

Attached: supergamerlinux.jpg (1000x750, 205K)

Managed 24-port GbE switch for $8 (they probably didn't know it was managed)
Supermicro Atom board that came with RAM for $60. Used it as a router for a while.

let it be known that say, the internet dies tomorrow
but you desperately want to play DOOM 3 or the original crysis but your xp shitbox is falling apart and you dont know how to fix it
aint got to internet, cant google your problem

have no fucking fear because i have literally every page of common windows XP and 98 troubleshooting printed out and in folders
why? i dont really know why, it came with some other stuff and the documentation on 98 development
why wont your motherboard post? just fuckin call me, ive probably got a step by step guide to fix your shitty motherboard, because i have a manual for every single version of the american megatrends bios from 1997 to 2004, chipset specific even

Attached: windows.jpg (1000x750, 223K)

and yes im aware thats on my stove, i removed it from the stove, i dont have much counter space, its currently being taken up by the parts for an era appropriate 2003 gaming PC and the other side is dishes drying

Based preservationist, I used to blow off retro pc builders because I'm kinda young but as windows 7 becomes legacy I'm keeping machines around that can run it as well as xp.

>Ultra X connect PSU
Damn that's OG.

This is the most boomer thing I've ever seen.
