Gnu in a vm, thoughts?

gnu in a vm, thoughts?

i think if you expect virtualbox to work correctly you are going to have a bad time

Using gnu only in wm last 10+ years
(last year WSL suffice for most tasks when looonix needed)

>using vbox when vmware WS and esxi exist

use kvm you monkey

No. Go big or go home.

Go big, Go Gentoo, Go home, or Dual boot.

Whichever suits you. But Virtualbox won't do fucking shit.

Why all this hate on VB?
Doesn't VMWare only have a paid version?

there's a free version called "VMWare Player", you can only run one VM at once and no snapshots

use WSL

What’s the best free virtual machine out there Jow Forums? I want to experiment with linux with a functional VM, but virtual box is shit.

VMware player

You can run multiple VMs and have snapshots with VMware player about a decade

wait.. how?

>VB is shit.
What's wrong with it?
Based.
Double based.
Botnet.

Virtual Box

>What's wrong with it?
its riddled with bugs
especially versions released after 6.0.0

VirtualBox is the Oracle botnet software, if you want freee software then only QEMU

Cool logo though

>qemu
it has even shitter performance than vbox

>not hyperV
smdh

Then use an older version, dick lips.

GNU is not an operating system.

Neither is linux, faggot.

What's your point?

Kvm is better than both and easy as fuck to install

Do you have a point, I mean aside from the one on the end of your hooked nose?

if you care about performance, contribute to it or sit on a VB-themed pole that impales through all of you

No, I just think it's cute how you all seem to think the wooden shack is more important than the rock upon which it sits.

serious post here: You can run linux without GNU and it's independent, and certainly an OS. You cannot *only* run GNU, so by that logic wouldn't it be improper to conclude that linux itself isn't an OS?

After virt-manager was released, there is seriously no reason to use VMWare over KVM...

This. I've been running a GNU free stack for years. LILO, clang/llvm, musl, busybox, zsh for posix (fish otherwise). Only gnu I may or may not have installed are dependencies. In which case it's more accurate to call it Firefox/Linux than GNU/Linux

Based as fuck. Perfect metaphor.
Came here to post this.

unironically this. gnu userspace is a fucking mess. the kernel is based and sane in comparison.

You can run memtest86 independently as well. Doesn't make it an operating system.

There's literally nothing wrong with VirtualBox. These are just pajeets trained to do the needful with enterprise grade VMware.

>he doesn't know about HURD

I don't think Hurd will work at all.

is workstation pro really that difficult to pirate?

>especially versions released after 6.0.0
This is true. I installed the new version and when I clicked on reset (host machine) it would turn it off instead. I'm pretty sure one of its driver was causing the issue.

Actually it's piss easy lol, at least on windows.
