Every year they make their phones more expensive
Every year everyone says they are insane, it's too expensive, and it will bomb
Every year the phones sell tens of millions of unit

>not having your own company so your can buy phones as a tax deductible.
Just like $6000+ laptops, these aren't meant for consumers.

The more expensive it gets, the more of a "status symbol" it becomes.

It's a better deal than a laptop desu. A 1TB SSD upgrade in a high-end laptop is $500 on its own and you're getting double the RAM going from the base 128GB to the 1TB version with the S10+

what fucking difference does having it be tax deductible make? like that difference in taxable income is going to offset the fact that you're buying a $1500 fucking phone?

phones are the new laptops

hey um what do people use all that storage for anyway?

no it doesn't.
independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/iphone-price-apple-buy-cost-china-turkey-foreign-currency-a8753811.html

>12 gb + 1 tb
Nigga what the fuck do you need that much memory and storage for?

1TB
well. That would fit most of my music collection... and then choke any app trying to index/search it...

Assuming the money you spend on that phone is at the top of the bracket, you would basically lose like 2k to taxes on that 6k. Instead you buy the laptop so if you consider the potential tax on $6k a loss then you basically spent $4k on a $6k laptop

>what fucking difference does having it be tax deductible make?
About 70% in my case.

>a $1500 fucking phone?
Which "feels" like a $450 (30% of $1500) phone.

Android is why they need so much ram.
And I bet that maxed out 1TB S10+ will lag as fuck after 3 months.

m8 a 1tb SSD is 160€ / 200$.

Go tell that to laptop manufacturers.

It's not just income tax.
I also avoid paying VAT and corporate tax.

Thats why you buy one with 120gb or without ssd ar all and built it in by yourself

inb4 you argue that you can‘t change your drive because you can‘t open your laptop - don‘t get fooled and stop buying shit

Same with phones - If someone spends THAT much on a fucking phone, get an iPhone instead of Android. Ar least Apple changes your battery and delivers updates for like 6 years

laptops are better than phones for that price

porn, 4k video, games

it depends what you're trying to do with it. if you're trying to fit it in your pocket and make phone calls then maybe not.

Are they just raising the prices to keep used values high? Smartphones have barely changed since their release, profit margin must be insane

oh i see. why would you store the first two on your phone though?

I wouldn't store the 1st one in my phone but you can record in 4k nowadays

oh yeah, i forgot about that.

>1499 euro
thats like 900 in real money

Some complete shit ssd maybe. But anything above shit will cost you ~500evro

Pfffft keep dreaming, kid

What are you? Poor?

Not him but even a "shit" SSD is 100 times better than a hard drive and perfectly fine for most use cases.
Do you really need 1TB of the highest performance possible? - you could always go for 2 SSD's with different speeds and capacities.

>implying an iphone doesn't already cost that or more

have you gone full retard?

You can get a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO for $150
Even a 970 PRO is $350
I'd like to know what your idea of a non-shit SSD is

It also comes with Facebook spying builtin.

Attached: 1525286578930.png (1140x978, 245K)

There is already a phone for poor people: the samsung A and J series

This.
Just got a new 480GB "shit" SSD for 70 bucks because why not, my current 240GB Kingston low tier crap costed me 130 dollars a year ago and runs circle on my fucking HDDs I use for storage.

I mean for fuck's sake sometimes it actually takes 3 seconds to load a song on foobar if the disk was quiet for a while, I'm fucking hating HDDs more every day.

I need an IDE HDD for my Pentium 3 though, I'll see if I find one.

>$130 for 240GB
You are a fucking retard. I bought a 1TB sandisk ultra II for $130 well over 1.5 years ago. You got completely fucking ripped off and bought the literal shittiest SSD brand you could.

Just wanted to let you know.

Found the IToodler

I don't know which currency you're talking about but at least US dollar has always been worthless monopoly money compared to euro.

inflation is a hell of a drug

>1TB of storage
why?

>12GB RAM
>phone

Attached: 1521867662344.png (1920x1080, 1.42M)

Ha you are partially right, I forgot to mention a little detail though, I'm a thirdworlder and local prices are high, currently that disk is 51 dollars here while 29 dollars in the US, and I can tell you the difference was bigger a while ago, it is slowly stabilizing.
Also to be honest I said "a year" but I'm not sure how long it has been, it could be 2 years, but no more than that.

Also I didn't care much about getting a better SSD (I just got an Inland Professional lol), because I'm still on SATA II and I have NO INTENTION to upgrade, my computer is still fast as fuck for my tasks, a faster disk would be a waste of money.

Not speaking about highest performance. Speaking about how reliable they are. I will take good hdd over shit ssd any day. Also shit ssds are not much faster than hdds

>Also shit ssds are not much faster than hdds
Blatant lie, I have the cheapest piece of shit ssd and it runs circles on all HDDs I ever had, even the good WD 7200RPM I had.
I wonder the difference with a SCSI 10k RPM though...

Almost every Android phone comes with Facebook installed and can't be uninstalled, only disabled.
Unless you uninstall it through adb.

a "shit" SSD is also 100 times more reliable than a hard drive, especially inside a laptop that might get dropped.

Lol meanwhile gook phones get cheaper and faster
Based chinks

but samsung are gooks too

1tb flash storage though. Keep that in mind.

S10e seems like a reasonable value

don't these phones use eMMC flash? so isn't it a bit misleading to compare that storage to a 1tb ssd?

No, they use UFS.

oh damn, looks good. 2900MB/s bandwidth if all lanes are utilised, in the latest spec (2018)

It's not meant for a normal person but if someone wants to pay $1500 they're happy to take your money.

Yes, BUT Americans always pay way less. That €899 phone will cost $899 in the US.

If they were clamshell form factor with a full qwerty keyboard you'd be posting nonstop about how fucking glorious it would be, the return of the UMPC.
These aren't phones, these are mobile computers. People used to pay $1000+ for good UMPCs back when the dollar was stronger than it is today.

S10 should have the Exynos chipset with that spec, in regions that get the Exynos version, so someone will have to do a storage speed test to see if its dual or single lane.
Honestly, though, with the kinds of tasks you have on smartphones you'll run into bottlenecks in other places before you see any difference between a few hundred and a couple thousand MB/s transfer speeds.
Sure, if you're just copying data to and from the device over a link that can actually go that high, but there are basically no use cases where you would need to get several hundred MB of data from storage into RAM in less than a second. It'll almost always be staggered by processing, so it's basically a pissing contest.

Half the laptops on the market have soldered NVME drives just to fuck with you.

This is what happens when you believe meme images about sequential read.

>12GB RAM
>1TB Storage
>Ceramic Black
sounds good to me

Ja, I don't understand either

>have they gone full retard?
Nope. It's the people buying them that have.

Probably $100-200 down, and maybe $20/m until they decide to lease another phone.

1tb costa fuck all u retard same with dram (lddr4 or whatever they use) no way it's worth 2000aud

>i expect all things to be at materials cost

Take your samshit and shove it up your ass

anyone got the article about how the iphone 8`s were selling for 1000$ but the parts cost breakdwon was like 180$

dfgh

I bet over 50% of the price is to cover advertising/marketing costs

Yes, iPhones are particularly marked up in price.
But you're always going to pay more than cost of the parts, not just for assembly costs but also for excess stock margins.
It's just a part of mass production.

This, it's also the case with every other phone, albeit not as much

>2019
>can't get a phone with 32 or 64 GB anymore so they can make them even more expensive

I sure am glad I'm not an NPC who always needs the newest phone.

If Apple isn't even getting away with it anymore, there is no way Sammy is gonna do it.

Are you still living in 2012!?

Samsung 1TB SSD == $147.99

Eat a dick

The highest durability SSDs outside of Intel are Samsung's and their consumer grade NVME is 250-300. You can get a SATA drive for half that.

European price includes tax, you absolute fucking mongoloid

Mine didn't.

only the best logic
>apple devices keep getting more expensive
>apple is a hugely successful company with loyal customers who will keep buying newly released products
conclusion: high price = more sales and loyal customers
plan: release device more expensive than apple's to steal their customers

>Yes, BUT Americans always pay way less. That €899 phone will cost $899 in the US.
> will cost $899 in the US
You forgot to add the cost of the payment plan/the interests for the credit card

>12gb ram
>1tb storage

wtf happened to phones? what on earth necessitated this?

Not phone with the Android One program. They might cost a bit more extra due to zero advertising on app bundle.

Gamers.

smart phones sales are down you fag.

don't say no to progress. would you rather have 8GiB of storage and 512MiB of RAM?

seems plenty for a phone.

> imblying
I migrated from SGSII with 16/1GB only because a new Skype version couldn't run. If there were no new hardware, programmers wouldn't bloat the programs. In fact, programmers should pay me for a new phone because they expect to work less at "my expense", using bloated shit like React and NodeJS.
dev.skype.com/react

Definitely. I still like the progress in hardware though, standing still in that regard would be worse.

Machine learning/tensorflow need gigabytes of RAM. Samsung's Dex also benefits from more RAM. If one wants to, these phones with their Dex dock, a display, bt keyboard and mouse are actually a viable desktop alternative, especially if you're very casual. And you've basically got all your data on you at all times.

I wouldn't spend so much on a phone and would rather sync to a NAS and an actual computer, but this works for some people I suppose.

>phone hardware is in any way, shape or form a 'deal'
that a yikes from me

no faggot, search again, you are doing something TOO wrong

its pandering to normies who see it and go "wow number big, good it is"

$899 + tax

Except that's not true. Sales are sinking across the board, which is why they need to milk people even harder to keep profits up.

God bless chinkphones.

i'm honestly just waiting for the cheap note 8. it's already under $400 in fatmerica
