I got a 2017 macbook air (for free) and I don't use it, use a x220 instead.
Apple get some things right, such as the screen, battery life, fast AF SSD and low weight. But they completely fucked up with the keyboard. So bad that I could never actually use a macbook as a daily driver, and I'm usually not picky about keyboards at all. Also from my basic testing Linux driver support isn't all there. Overall responsiveness was much lower then running linux on the macbook. Waking from sleep took way longer than it did on MacOS for example.
