Everything depreciates.

gold doesn't

Yes it does. It depreciates until you find it more valuable for yourself to exchange it for cash.

Anything with history attached to it. For some reason people fall for that meme all the time. I still don't get why old shitty electronics sell for a lot just because some famous person used them.

That's not devaluation, gold holds basically the same value over time, you can compare past currency values just by using their value in gold as metric, for example. That's why it's one of the most stable investments.

I see a giant turd on the beach.

We're not in 1900 anymore grandpa, it's been a very long time that gold doesn't dictate the value of the dollar. And gold's value has depreciated.

Depreciation and devaluation are two different things entirely. Everything depreciates. Depreciation is how useful something is to you. Gold depreciates until you find it more useful to get rid of the gold in exchange for something else. Devaluation is the overall market value of the item and how it decreases in value over time as supply and demand change.

Land doesn't

Yep, you are right, I just mistyped.

>niggers come and build a ghetto around your land
Now your property is valuable as an abandoned house in Detroit.
