They found the DF was a bad idea and stopped producing the ED-1.
Sennheiser also found DF was a bad idea, that's why the HD800 isn't actually DF but tweaked by ear. It's just that they still sell the original HD600 because there's still fools to buy and shill them.

Explains why the HD800 sounds so much better than the failed abortion that is the HD600.

HD600's response is still the closest open back headphone to the Harman target.

Most people who tried the 660S also prefer them over the original tuning, but butthurt 600 owners gotta butthurt.

The only measurement lab that measures 20+ units of the same headphone for the sake of better averaged equalization to your pet harman target is faultier than the guys who are bought by their sponsors and were the only ones to not notice the change in distortion in the 800S vs 800. Yeah.

The 6XX is the only product that is exactly like another product sold retail as far as I know though. 7XX has the wonkiest tuning of all AKG. HE4XX is not like other chifiman.
