I installed arch + gnome yesterday but terminal just won't work. Am I too stupid to follow the Arch way?

do you have access to another terminal so that you can launch this terminal emulator and see whatever it prints out to stdout?

try installing another terminal emulator like terminator or something, something different from the one that you have right now, and see if it launches
