because developers stopped catering for developers

browsers became so fucking bloated and shit that not even microsoft can afford to make their own any longer.
browsers and modern websites are fucking cancer.

Because good browser is less profitable.

Literally the fastest and most compatible browser out there.

literally still doesn't have a non-shit way to do vertical tabs

Literally a useless feature

autism

We need to revive netrunner.

>what is ungoogled-chromium

Literally the only browser that still exists.
>brave
Chromium
>chrome
Chromium
>opera

>safari
Old chromium
>vivaldi
Chromium
>firefox
Lol. Just lol.

Thus, the only viable option is ungoogled-chromium because it is chromium just like everything else, but tries to remove the botnet more than others.

Yes, it's absolute complete garbage. But this is the state of the modern web.

does it update by default or do you have to github to get the update files everytime?

You update it with your package manager.

The problem is not browsers. It's the web.

It's both. There was no need for every browser to be literal malware even if there was a need for them to be OS-tier to display modern webpages.

Browsers mutated into web application runtime environment. That's what happened.

You build it from the AUR, fucking Autist

i just use waterfox

same here, version : 51
with vimperator : 3.16
works just fine, idle is 0.1 cpu and 1.0 watching vid....

inbred redditard fuckoff forever.

Kys.

Butthurt paid mosjwilla shill is butthurt

>modern websites are fucking cancer.

Amazing how people take priority on making JS even more monkey proof but at the cost of making it disgustingly bloated and requiring a fuckton of modules because browsers don't even care keeping up anymore

Wew lad, looks like you're a butthurt paid jewgle shill who got called out for being a retard.

Because browsers are basically operating systems right now.
>views images, plays music and video, can view pdf, can torrent, can play videogames, can be used to text message and call/video call
All this is unnecessary. A browser should just be an engine linking your default text viewer, media player, torrent client, office suite, messaging client and other software together. Similar to how Firefox recognizes protocols of your installed software and prompts you to use those instead of torrenting/joining a mumble server/playing a video you downloaded directly on Firefox.

ungoogled chromium

Google
Chrome

Serious answer: Because web standards are constantly changing. Most importantly however, by "changing" I also mean they're bloating.

Nobody seems to realize it yet, but web browsers are actually being treated like generic application engines.
As long as this fact goes unchecked they're just going to keep adding more and more crap to our web standards for rendering generic 2D interfaces, and even 3D graphics.
It needs to stop, or at least be split into different browsers. There needs to be a standard web that is closer to the original purpose of web browsers as "document viewers", and possibly a 2nd standard for more bloated web apps.

Personally I blame all the tracking. I bet companies like Google and Facebook use their leverage to push bloated standards that they can piggyback their tracking shit into. (e.g. yes, HTML canvas is a great idea so we can scan everyone's canvas data for fingerprinting)

>most compatible
Because it has a near monopoly

>AUR
lol
Yeah, too bad really. This point describes the ABSOLUTE STATE of the web very well, however it's not really an argument against using Chromium.

this. they used to be really small when it was only a web browser.

thats not what happened. they are now adding lots of shit so even idiots can make websites.

browsers are bad because web technologies are bloated and gay.

panopticon fascism
surveillance capiltalism
all hardware is backdoored
no open source bios (look at how hampeered and infected libreboot and coreboot are)

id really like an open source modular browser with ublock built in the engine
that provided an empty window and got the fuck out the way but it doesn't exist
