Don't know the model but it was the standard keyboard that came with the HP Vectra
Jack Moore
What keyboard is that?
Zachary Gomez
what's the best minimalist office keyboard? I'm tired of the keyboard my boomer boss has we are wasting minutes and minutes because of non-standar layout with extra buttons that ruin muscle memory and lack of any tactile feel and ungodly high actuation point
I want standard layout with numpad, my boss uses the numpad, not meme layouts with no arrows price 150$ max
Hudson Robinson
HP C1405A it seems, not sure on that though.
John Harris
Yep, that's the one. Thanks Anons
Jacob Perez
FC900R with MX silent reds
Nicholas Baker
Just know that it's a conductive rubber dome, but the keycaps are dye-sub PBT and the keyboard has a steel plate inside so the build quality isn't that bad
Best switch for jailhouse Blues using j spacers? I heard cherries are better than gaterons, but is there a difference between normal Cherry vs retooled Cherry vs rgb Cherry with the clear housing?
I doubt you can buy old stock cherry switches anymore since they retooled their switches three years ago. Cherry started the retooling process when they came out with the RGB variants which are just normal switches in clear housings. Cherry switches have tighter tolerances mostly cause they've been recently retooled so I'd just stick with those.

Can anybody recommend me a real quality 60% keyboard? Something that would last at least 3 years? I don't mind cleaning every month, in fact, I do clean my kb's every month.
Jeremiah Walker
Are there mechanical keyboards without spaces between f keys and prefferably no spaces between numbers to f keys aswell?
Juan Bennett
Yes
Aaron Scott
Of course
Asher Gutierrez
Vortex pok3r. Get it with clears if u wanna be patrician
Oliver Gray
is there maybe possibly a more graceful way i can do this
i'd get one of the more overpriced keyboard stands on amazon but they all seem to be for full sized keyboards
yes holy shit this looks beautiful, is there a category for some types like it so it could be easier to find I cant seem to find any.
Wyatt Howard
Anyone here have experience making a handwired board? I'm researching so I can eventually get this 60%+Numpad layout all put together. I've already discovered Swill's plate builder. I'm currently on the lookout for case resources/ideas (I don't have a 3D printer) as well as controller recommendations and perhaps the best tutorial to follow for this sort of thing, and any considerations I might need to keep in mind.
would like to builda 75 ortholinear keyboard, is the alignment fine or a meme? Only reply if you own a ortho
Sebastian Gutierrez
>huge mousepad >tiny keyboard Can someone explain this meme?
Levi Morgan
Hey so I recently bought a mechanical numpad and I've run into an issue. I do a lot of digital art and I thought it would be handy to have a little numpad that I could fill with easy-access macros. I am a poor art school student so I didn't buy anything super impressive, but it was good enough for me! I ended up purchasing this one 23 key YMDK numpad and I didn't run into any issues until now.
So I found out you can't really make a KBD19X hotswappable, because the PCB isn't supported by the case, but the plate does support switch top opening. What would be the best MX-style base housings to use, considering I can always swap the springs and stems out for something else?

I'm not quite sure what I did to cause this to happen, but one day I opened up Bootmapper and downloaded my numpad's current settings to show a friend, and all of my previous settings were completely gone. Thankfully resetting everything back to what it was before wasn't a problem, but now it's not functioning correctly.. See, I had it set up so that there are two modes or "layers" of my keyboard: Normal and FN2. I had it set up so that the same button on both layers had the "toggle FN2" button, but now it appears to be stuck on FN2. I have tried almost everything to fix this. I switched all the settings so that the FN2 Layer had all of my settings for the Normal layer, and had FN3 act as FN2. I've been searching online desperately for any sort of information that relates to this issue I'm having but I have been shocked to find nothing. I'm even struggling to find any sort of answer to another question of mine: "What is the difference between FN2 and Toggle FN2??".
The picture is the settings that I have been using that used to work before
"Toggle FN2" should be, well, a toggle that switches you to the FN2 layer until the button is pressed again. Just "FN2" is a modifier, which switches you to the FN2 layer for as long as you hold the button down.
It's like the difference between caps lock and shift.

While I don't know if this was the cause, I should mention I only started having problems after I plugged it into a Cintiq I had hooked up to my laptop during one of my classes. When I plugged it in I got a briefly appearing pop-up that said "Setting up device", but I didn't think much of it since my numpad was working completely fine during the class itself. After the class was when I discovered this issue.
I've tried deleting any sort of driver I had on my numpad (though I struggled to even find it) and deleted and reinstalled Bootmapper. I'm just running out of ideas and getting kinda worried about seemingly breaking it. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Also here's a little diagram of what the keys are supposed to do using the layers if anybody is curious!
Oh I see! I wonder why "Toggle FN2" isn't working for me anymore then. It seems stuck on FN2..
Connor Powell
>bottmaper what this?
YMDK numpad probably uses QMK, i have a basic rule >if i can use a text editor i sue a text editor so basically i would open a text editor and see what keycode is being used on that particular key, QMK can switch to a layer or toggle it or what ever you make it do.
switching to it means it replaces the default layer with the selected one toggle means that when you release the key it switches back to normal.
Show code anyway.
Christopher Murphy
Oh whoops that was a typo! It's this program called Bootmapper, or also known as Bootmapper Client. I don't know much about programming keyboards but the person I bought it from recommended I use it.
Landon Phillips
placing the keyboard on a softer material will help reduce noise
Isaiah Hill
zeals, or anything made from POM
Sebastian Williams
I've hear Aliaz housings are as good as identical and much cheaper, is this true?
Leo Thompson
well checked that software and it doesnt mention what firmware he is using so he could be using a custom one.
Aliaz are just gateron stems in zeal housings. Zeals are just overpriced gaterons.
Julian Morales
I'm mostly curious about the difference in wobble between the two. I've got some regular Gateron switches in my current board and they do wobble a bit more than Cherry MX, but supposedly Zealios have tighter tolerances or something so they don't wobble as much.
Elijah Bell
if you have access to a laser cutter, it's a really easy way to make a sandwich case. One issue I ran into when I made my first handwired board was I didn't have a good place to mount the microcontroller. Look up the postage board from keebio. Overall, it's not that hard. Lining the wires up can be a bit annoying though. Don't be afraid to make mistakes; I made a few on my first build (pic rel) Here's some links: keeb.io/products/postage-board-usb-c-controller-board-for-handwiring blog.komar.be/how-to-make-a-keyboard-the-matrix/ (in case you wanted to know more about matrices) geekhack org/index.php?topic=87689.0 youtu.be/WyAbaqZUuf0
Hello this is the op from that comment! I am completely unsure of the firmware of the numpad itself, when I tried to uninstall any kind of driver that it might of had I couldn't find anything.
I wonder if it would be better for me to stop using Bootmapper and seek out a different way to reprogram the numpad?
Jackson Phillips
why not ask the guy who made it?
Lucas Bailey
I haven't been following this conversation but if you're just trying to program a numpad, check the controller on it. if the controller on it is an ATmega32u4, you can just erase it and flash qmk
Luke Murphy
in a orhtolinear layout you can solder a pro micro to two different switches on opposing sites.
Adam Sanders
I've never actually considered that, all the stuff I've been seeing that pertains to the program seemed kinda vague and ambiguous, but maybe I could find out who produced the program. Thank you for the suggestion!
Chase Myers
Oh how do you check the controller? Would that be somewhere on the inside components of the keyboard or something I'd find through my computer?
Joseph Hill
>if you have access to a laser cutter Haha, nope. Right now my default option is to bop on over to Home Depot and see what they've got in small wood (or even MDF) boards I could glue n' screw. Feel free to tell me why this is a stupid plan.
Cameron Brooks
you'd probably have to look at the hardware for that. find the big square bit and try to read the text on it. It might not look exactly like pic related but it should be close. I doubt it would be in a different package
Best keyboard for writing org mode todo lists, making schedules and agendas, writing elisp configs, and maybe, actually programming?
Justin Clark
One with QMK so you can program it however you like.
Benjamin Hughes
I use an RJ11 variant of this with an HP 700/96 terminal, the keys are kind of lame. Looks fuckin' great though and I'd really like a PS/2 or HP-HIL variant to match with my Vectras and 9000s.
Nathaniel Perez
you need to have the cutouts for the switches and they should be just the right size or the switches won't fit or they'll be wobbly (especially with no pcb holding them, the plate has to be as good as you can get) here's a list someone made of places you can get cuts done. Use kle and swillkb to get the files. I heard some shit happened with lasergist last year, idk if that's still going on keebtalk.com/t/list-of-laser-cutting-services/2500
Dominic Wilson
No I've been looking at services for the plate, it's the case I'm still trying to figure out. The Swill utility is quoting a sandwich case along with the plate from Lasergist at a couple hundred dollars, way too much for me.
Joshua Jackson
get the middle layers of the sandwich in a cheaper material like acrylic or go without middle layers. as long as the plate and bottom plate are solid material, you're good
Angel Peterson
Just get the plate cut, grab a block of wood and chisel/rout out a cavity, drill a cable hole and screw the plate into it
Gavin Long
Dear god I hate being stuck at work, I got orders to ship fuck.
In other news, a dutchman made a 3d print of Gergos retarded cousin.
evening cunce, i really want to own the Leopold FC980C AECX01 but i live in AUS so it comes to about ~$350AUD, and im a bit brok after coming back from a holiday. i dont start work for about another week but have about $1k, but i also dont have a desktop computer rn and am just using my uni laptop until i can afford to buy and build my own pc. should i get it the leopold now? its literally my grail mech and idk if its gonna go onsale again without having to massdrop it or buy it direct from korea which costs about $500 and shipping furthermore, do they work with macbooks after using a usb to usb-c converter. thanks for reading my blogpost
Does anyone have any experience with the Anne Pro 2 ? Was looking for a nice 60% keyboard below 100€ and while I don't really need it, the wireless option is pretty nice as well.
i'm a poorfag willing to spend like 60 bucks on a new keyboard, can you guys please shill me one? i'm used to the memepad X220 keyboard, and the space i have is a little limited so i would like something without numpad tho...
also would this look sexy with a microsoft intellimouse 1.1, i fucking loathe how all computers look like a razer epic gamer pure black RGB shit we need to bring back pic related as the computer aesthetic
looks pretty interesting, how difficult would be building/assembling a kit like that be for someone who hasn't even owned a mechanical keyboard before?
Julian Nguyen
The keebio ones? Not too bad, it's mostly through hole and big ugly daughterboards.
Gergo pretty much requires that you know what you're doing with soldering (or are willing to chunk through some vids) as there's surface mount stuff. The partial has only through hole components.
Matthew Barnes
xd75 has a socketed PCB so you only need to plug in switchs and insert some screws
James Taylor
the xd75 you linked is only the pcb though, right? or am I being retarded here
William Williams
you are right
Ethan Adams
That's not a gun.
Cameron Jones
if you want key caps and a case like a decadent westerner youll need to get those too
