I have a magni3
what's a good 6.3mm headphone? or an adapter?
The adapter I have is garbage

Change the cable for one with a screw at the end

doesn’t matter because your amp will destroy your headphones first

Anyone have the HE4XX's? How are they?

>6.3mm
Well for one if it's using metric it's probably trash. Most headphones just have 1/4 adapters with them. Otherwise just stop at a music supply store.

Have you heard the news? Stax SR-009 was rated lower than AKG K701 in blind listening tests.

aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=17441

LOL, even the best Stax headphones sound worse than some mid-fi cans.

I feel like you change headphones everytime you post but I'm okay with it because AKG is the best.

K701 is meh K400 is better in my opinion

Buy HD600!

How come no one ever talks about the hd25 anymore?
Legit still great

nu-AKG is garbage
old AKG best AKG

Should I buy the kph30i or the portapros? Tbh I want both.

I've had porta pros, they sound great for the price and clamp enough to be usable perfectly fine when running, but also fatigue your ears for extended listening sessions, you'll get uncomfortable after a few hours. Too bad mine broke when i fell off my bike and smashed face first with them on.

You owned the DT 990? How's the soundstage versus the DT 1990?

plz respond

this

k712 are great minus the plastic guides.

god i wish that were me

kph30i’s

akg is for homosexuals and no one should buy (((harman))) shitphones

Been awhile.

shitheiser is for mentally ill spammers so both are shit

That's a hot good OP picture for headphones. *sniffs feet*

it's superior if you're looking for more. i don't think you will dislike anything about the dt1990's if you're coming from dt990's

But will it be a big enough upgrade? Is the question.

got the hd6xx, howd i do

Attached: jesus600.png (500x565, 412K)

buy a schiit stack and a razer mouse to go with it as well and then post photos of it on reddit.

How does it smell?

Thanks, i'll look into them
I want an all in one, not a separate DAC and AMP, maybe i'm not clear enough

haha its funny hd600 hater man again xD
well memed sir

>your amp will destroy your headphones first
explain
found a good adapter just now

he also watches pedo cartoons from foreign country! so kawaii~~

For me, it's the HD600, objectively the world's best headphone at any price.

How's the FiiO E10K or Q1 Mark II as a first DAC amp?

>all-in-one
neck yourself cheapass

we're not in 80s anymore retard
usb interfaces are standard now, anything else is snake oil

lol

>optical is snake oil
OH NO NO NO ABSOLUTE STATE OF /hpg/ AHAHAHA

it's inferior to usb.. so not even snake oil, just inferior (just slightly though)

Cheesy

AKG 701 or 712
ATH AD1000X
DT1990
ESP950

I'm leaning towards the 950 and another user agreed. Any more opinions?

STAX SR-009S

I've only heard the AKG and I like them but they really sound like absolute ass on anime opening I downloaded from youtube.

>Worse

does anyone know if schiit has any sales?
I want to try out the cheap stack and see if it's as good as people say it is or if it's just paid advertisement

>Schiit
stop. everything they make is trash

>inferior to USB

>USB bus -> data 010010100
>USB bus data recieved 01001000
>invalid packet caused by voltage drop, ignoring or request another
>repeat

>light
>flashes and shit
>gets it at other end
>works

They don't, they even talk about it on their website. The best you'll get is their closeout sections, where they sell units that work but have some cosmetic damages or have been returned.

that's... not how it works..

>trash
you mean shit

Optical vs USB for dac? which one is better?

Optical if you have noisy USB, most people do.

>noisy USB
oh my god
who is tricking you people into believing stuff like this

Badly designed dac can't remove noise from dac. Look at schiit modi 2.

this
USB should be able to deliver the least interference/distortion. It's just the nature of the device.

optical if your cable is long as fuck

>he doesn't check his USB with a scope
lol
USB is rock solid for audio
use a repeater

I've seen measurements from AMIR and the optical sometimes measures better than USB?
The optical(spdif) cable will probably only be 6-8 feet long. I guess optical is the way to go then? I like the khadas tone board but I feel like I want more inputs. I have a JDS atoms.

My friend upgraded his system to some expensive equipment and gave me his Magni 3
I have hyperx cloud 2 headphones and have been using the stock USB DAC/Amp. Now when I use the old stock shit my ears blead.

Does anyone know a good 3.5mm extension?
The ones that come on the headphones are like 2 feet long

Also my laptop doesn't have SPDIF/coax/RCA outputs so I can't use it's audio. Is there a way to connect to a USB on my computer like a USB device and deliver the audio that way?
I'd imagine that I would need a DAC for that if possible
Any help is appreciated

either my unit of hd660s is broken or people that write about them on the internet are fucking deaf and stupid, because they absolutely do not have more treble or higher freqs than hd650, it's the opposite
the only thing hd660s has going for them right now is the better bass and slightly bigger sound than hd650 otherwise everything else is awful and definitely not worth their cost
i can not imagine any sort of audio work to be done on these, most would ask where the fuck is the high end and imaging because it's barely there. blatant downgrade from hd650 for anyone serious.
more than ok for just music listening though or other casual shit.

I think USB has a max length of 10 feet before needing power. That said, if you're using it for music you probably don't want to go more than a foot or 2
If you need to go long distance, optical is probably your best bet

Driven through a Topping D10 into a JDS Atom, do you guys think it would be worth it to spend the extra $ and get the HD6xx's over the SHP9500's?

Money's fairly tight right now so the HD6xx's would be a pretty big purchase, and I need some opinions. I probably won't be buying headphones for another 5 years after this pair.

how about you don't buy fucking headphones when your money is tight
fucking retard

>If you need to go long distance, optical is probably your best bet
Alrighty then.

Do you know what I can use to A/B test two headphones from the same amp and dac?

I'm not poor, fuck off.

actually let me change this a bit,
there is no reason to get these at all. hd599 and hd650 do what these do but better in every way.
don't know what the fuck sennheiser was going with here and what these fools write about them.

>tfw get paycheck
>tfw gone to bills
>tfw can only spend scraps on audio and food
I wanna move back home...

>Do you know what I can use to A/B test
an enthusiastic friend or a ride-or-die gf

USB is fine when you have properly designed dac to deal with ground hum. People shilling USB should fact check.

or you know just have grounded power and proper chain?
i don't know what the fuck you could possibly plug with usb to get "ground hum" into fucking headphones.

>an enthusiastic friend or a ride-or-die gf
It's annoying to just take out the plug and then pick up the other headphones and then shove it back in there.

:( Does anyone know what I can use to A/B test two headphones from the same amp+dac?

>USB is fine when you have properly designed dac to deal with ground hum.
I have no idea if X dac will have that. But I assume popular choices like D10,D30,D50, khadas tone board, ol dac, el dac, etc will?

KSC75

What do you fellas recommend? I might get some cheapo amp if I'm recommended something with enough impedance to require it but that's a separate budget figure.

Dacs that solely rely on USB for power could have this.

expand budget and get HD600

>I might get some cheapo amp if I'm recommended something with enough impedance to require it but that's a separate budget figure.
You probably won't need an amp for anything in that budget range.

hd600 is not flat and very boring
akg k240

>Flat
By flat you mean neutral? Most things considered neutral are boring. Anything fun is mostly bass emphasized or v-shaped but that can change with your preference.

>boring but not boring
?

HD600 is mid focused

are vinyl and turntables a meme?
dacs are too sterile for me

>Most things considered neutral are boring.
wrong
neutral is the most preferred

i'm not a big headphone person because i use monitors most of the time and they're superior in every way, but here is a small rating of my small collection over about 5 yrs (several other mainstream gaming cans not included that i use for reference). got the dt1990 and hd660s today and dt1990 replaced hd650 as for being used when monitors unavailable.
dt1990 >>> hd650 > hd599 > hd660s > dt880 > dt990
the dt1990's surprised me, they're like an improved hd650 with clearer high freqs and gets closer to that monitor sound, very big. the hd660s are not worth the money and absolutely not if you already have hd599/hd600/hd650 (this does not mean that they sound bad, they sound great, but so do the others mentioned).
thanks for reading my blog

Ok take the frequency response test and report back on how high you can hear.

>n-no he likes something other than my "neutral" (((harman)))tardon garbage
>h-he must have hearing loss! y-yeah that's it

What did you dislike about the DT 990 and what did you like from the DT 1990?

Thanks grandpa, I'm glad you can enjoy audio again after losing your hearing during the war.

lmao shitheisers getting dabbed on hard as fuck today
