I need a smartphone and a tablet for use in Beijing, China.

I guess I would like them both to be Android OS unless there is another OS more compatible with China and the apps in use there. I am a little concerned with using google over there as I have heard their services don't work so well in China.
I could go with US products and hope for the best with a SIM card swap but figured since the primary use will be in Bejing may as well go with something made for China.
What do you recommend for a phone and tablet given the above requests?
Does anyone know what the most compatible network type and cell frequencies are in the Bejing area?
Also if you have app recomendations for internet, maps, and other travel realted apps let me know.
I am just starting to research this so don't be surprised if these questions get asked a few times in future threads for gathering more info.
What's your budget? The obvious choice is to get something made by a Chinese company. I'd recommend one of the Xiaomi phones and Xiaomi MiPad 4 / 4 Plus for a tablet.

I'm not really that much experienced, nor do i have much of an equipment, but here's my 2 cents: I'm a music producer and can hear up to 19-20khz. Currently using renewed version of Phillips SHL3300 (not the shitty ones that fail) and according to head-fi community they seem like an extraordinary bang for buck (i bought them on sale lowered from 100$ to 50$, US prices are much lower for some reason), with a pci soundblaster soundcard.
For reference - i've tried several AKG monitors (100-300$), a couple of high end sony headphones (but not monitors), and this phillips shl3300.
To start with phillips - they are bass-boosted compared to all of the studio headphones i've tried. Samsons have MUCH MUCH better high end, clean and clear from 12k upwards, so much so that it overwhelms the rest of the spectrum, but i guess that's just my ears that are accustomed to the phillips with shitty high end (even though it goes to like 25khz or 28) Bass is still there, seems pretty linear, but kinda light (again, i'm used to phillips which are bass boosted). Mids are fine, soundstage is great, noise cancelling not so great since they're semi-open ear. Comfort is fine, but not great. Build quality seems cheap, but better than phillips.
Compared to the AKG ones, i really don't see any significant difference, especially not significant enough to spend 8-10 times more money on them.
Songs sound so detailed that your brain hurts from trying to process all those info, which is the case with most monitors, so i would rather recommend hi end sony or phillips hi-fi headphones for everyday listening, but for mixing and mastering, this one is great, especially in combination with the bass boosted one like phillips.
1 big plus is that they don't require dac/amp because they're just 32ohm
wait till protection is running out and file for a refund for none delivery, that'll hurt them more than the $1 plus you'll get your money back

i was there last year first thing i did after getting to the hotel was go to a local xiaomi shop (there are lots) and bought a redmi 5 plus and a sim card (sim had data and minutes that easily lasted the 10 days i was there) was about 1000rmb i had also taken a microsd card with a gapps installer and a few different free vpn apks this worked great

they come with chinese and english, i asked the shop to change it to english google works fine with a free vpn i choose to stick with google apps as they are in english were as the chinese apps tend to still have random chinese crap all over the place even in english
maps works great, and translate is very useful
