I'm stuck in a series of dead end customer service jobs that make me want to harm myself and others. My schedule is always unpredictable with morning, evening, and overnight shifts in the same week consistently, so I can't get a proper sleep schedule. I'm always tired and can barely stay awake for more than 10 hours at a time, no matter how long I sleep. I'm trying to find the energy and time to learn C so maybe I can just that to put myself on a better position. But at least I have a healthy living relationship, that's helping me pull through.

Never understood the appeal of windows 7. I actually enjoyed my small amount of time with windows 8.1 more. Windows 10 is where its at.

It has nothing to do with proprietary vs. non-prpprietary. There are plenty of systems running ancient linux kernels out there. The problem is that development time to harden your embedded OS and adapt it for the target hardware is an extremely time-consuming and expensive process. Not to mention, there is often no way to actually do a widespread upgrade without causing widespread outages, costing your clients massive amounts of money.

You only need to upgrade your harddrives to SSD's, add more RAM and upgrade your CPU and it magically becomes faster :^)

My guess is that Win10 will be the last OS from a classical point of view.
The next shit they will come up with will be a Chrome OS like browser, where you simply log in to a Microsoft server, hosting your User account with all data, programs installed and settings.

Something about the LTSC removing some windows store files is not letting me use a program for music production. I keep getting an error when it opens up and then it works fine. Was so annoying so I had to download regular windows 10 version. Oh well I guess.

I have been trying out some GNU/Linux distros lately. I must say it's gotten much better compared to the last time I tried. I tried Mint on my laptop and it recognized all hardware. Even the OEM media keys worked.

If it weren't for games and exclusive software people wouldn't even use Windows to begin with.

My teacher had given me a HP compaq NW8240 made in 2006 since half the peripherals i use to fuck around with my car need serial port. This thing is fucking ancient, windows 10 crashes it, vista is fucking horrible and xp is not supported anymore. I installed windows 7 32-bit yesterday and i cant believe how fast a fresh install of windows 7 is on a 2006 craptop that still uses serial ports and IDE.

18 and studying my diploma in IT, probably gonna go for a service desk job, get my dream car and enjoy the rest of my youth. Other than that i just drink whilst playing old ass JRPG's. Life's pretty comfy

I know most of you motherfuckers use Windows just for games (because it is legit the only reason to use Windows). How come you're using 7? Do you just play old shit or actually have no issues with newer titles?

Been playing anthem on my win7 over the weekend, worked flawlessly. Division 2 beta also runs well enough. Don't think Destiny 2 can be considered new, but that works flawlessly as well. Probably gonna try apex over the weekend, but I doubt that'll not run

Nah I don't mean just run them but run them good. An example of a now older title that runs quite a bit better on 10 is GTA V, or at least it used to. Maybe it was patched.
