vape pens are effectively boilers with a reservoir and a lithium ion battery. The actual atomizer isn't very likely to cause an explosion unless you do something stupid with the reservoir; you're more likely to cause a short messing wit your heating coils that causes the battery to to overheat or explode.

mechanical mods are the most likely cause for explosions. if a mechanical mod gets shorted somehow, then the battery will explode. any mod worth anything will have a digital board inside (e.g. DNA boards) which have protections in place. vape pens are usually very cheap and of questionable quality at best, don't buy them. modern battieries are pretty good at preventing explosions, they have a built in mechanism that will open the vent and open the circuit. don't skimp on your batteries, buy branded ones such as those from SAMSUNG or SONY, as unbranded (or unkown battery brand) batteries are the ones of lower quality that don't get the best qa rating aren't approved by the manufacturer to carry the label "SONY" or "SAMSUNG".

I think he means MIT. Medical induced trauma. The hospital was so afraid of killing him they let him die instead. He was an organ donor after all, probably worth more to them dead than alive. I think it's kind of telling that they didn't inform the family they moved him to intensive care.

Tastes pretty damn good when I have a good device and proper batteries, both with protections in place. The guy in the OP probably had a mechanical device, as stated here and he paid for it dearly. I've played with mechanical mods before and, frankly, I don't see the point in them other than some weird bragging rights that I don't understand. A device with a board in it provides so many improvements that using a mechanical is akin to banging rocks together to make fire instead of using a lighter.
