>successfully managed to install wifi card
>wifi shows up as unavailable in settings

Wtf is going on, Jow Forums? I have come to the conclusion that this is in fact a hardware problem since there has been a time when it would connect to my wifi for about 30 seconds and then dissapear where it would not be available at all.
Wtf do l do?

Oh he would know if it wasn't

Coreboot that trash any day of the week.

Settings in what? Is it a wifi chipset that doesnt require proprietary hardware?

Ive got a librebooted x60s with linux mint.
The wifi card is a atheros ar5bhb63.
It also wouldnt connect to wifi with the other intel card that it came with.

Does it show up in lspci? iwconfig? iw phy?

It kind of shows up but it seems like it works whenever it wants to.

sudo rfkill unblock all

For the love of Terry please take proper screenshots.

If it shows up in all 3 of those you should be good to go. It's probably network-manager that's misconfigured. Does 'iwlist wlp2s0 scanning' come up with any nearby SSIDs?

show us the dmesg output, op

did you install the linux-firmware package? some wifi drivers need the binary blobs from this package.

>Being spoon fed commands like a baby

This is too painful to watch.

Nope not working.
Also l typed the same lspci with the card disconnected and the same stuff was shown.
Cant take screenshot because the last resort l have is my phone.

>failed to read scan data : Network is down
So bring it up with ifconfig? Do you really need all this spoonfed to you?

No wlp2sp.

whoops forgot pic

>all this autistic shit to have working wifi
>still doesn't work
the current state of ganoo/shit freetards lmao

So you do need the spoonfeed. ifconfig doesn't list interfaces that are down. -a

Blame the user, not the tool.

epic!

sudo ifconfig wlp2s0 up

>operation not possible due to rf kill

>needs MORE spoonfeeding despite the fact that he's basically been told exactly what the problem by the error message
Holy shit, half the advantage of *nix systems is that error messages and logs generally tell you enough information to figure out what the problem is, without needing to google, or in your case, ask on a malaysian animation discussion board.
