I've had the Rift for a year. I love it, but I mostly play Elite Dangerous and sims. PCVR has stagnated on the software side. My buddy just got PSVR, and Sony is killing it with the quality and length of their exclusive titles. I have read that Oculus switched to a more Sony like strategy, funding fewer titles, but more high budget ones, so hopefully that will change soon.

Buying a headset for Fallout or Skyrim is dumb. The former runs like ass in VR, and they're both the same old shitty flawed Bethesda games. It's amazing for 25 minutes, then you realize you're playing the same old crappy game again.

tl;dr PCVR needs better games to satisfy the non-autist sim crowd. Beat Saber was a good first step, since it's super normy friendly, especially for chicks.

lol, fuck off. Lenovo Explorer can be had for ~$100 on sales regularly, and it's a solid headset, albeit with some drawbacks. Rift regularly goes on sale for $350.

I'm pretty disappointed about Fallout sucking and not having the DLCs. I actually enjoy the settlement building stuff and I would've liked to play the game in VR just to be able to experience the stuff I've built that way.

Sims are definitely the best thing on VR at the moment, particularly because you can play many of them sitting down and thereby avoid VR's issues with character movement. Derail Valley is really cool, I'd never played any kind of train sim before but I think they're perfectly suited to VR.

Robo Recall (wave shooter, but a fucking amazing one. one of the most polished vr experienes)
Lucky's Tale (mario64 type 3rd person sit-down game)
Edge of Nowhere (3rd person action game, not too bad on a sale)
Lone Echo (story-based puzzle type game)

Games that aren't VR only:
Elite Dangerous (my most played game)
DCS (combat flight simulator)
Il-2 (WWII themed combat flight simulator)

As I said before, Skyrim and Fallout are fun to pirate and try out for a while. They get boring fast, though, at least for me.
