Any UI yet? HDR support?

I got a laptop with gtx 960m (no bully, if it's there I might as well use it), should I put anything else regarding video in the config?

Are the ewa scalers a meme? Spline36 do better in the test too.

>imagine needing to do this to get a player to work
so glad I use mpc-hc

But it work without that.

Windows builds by lachs0r
mpv.srsfckn.biz

Windows builds by shinchiro (git)
sourceforge.net/projects/mpv-player-windows/files

which one is official?????

it is the same as madvr with neuron and jinc shit and still cannot work probably

both
lachs0r maybe the most stable,
shinchiro is lastest version available.

Image quality is still worse than MPC

thanks

both suck ass still.
>no add subtitle menu
>no config menu
>no right click setting menu
>literally nothing
trash. sticking to MPC-HC

Good for you.

i see that u shill so hard for this thing ill give it a try for a week or two
also what the fuck is up with captcha

Do it with a distant shot.

How can I make osc height not change (or at least not change as much) when I resize the window? Is it even possible?
script-opts=osc-vidscale=no doesn't do anything.

Attached: 1549220783686.webm (1280x720, 2.96M)

What is the optimal subtitle positioning?

bottom middle of the screen, as small as you can make it before it hinders your reading speed

no subs. learning the language is the patrician way.

> no handholding
weakminded

>as small as you can make
Ins't the bigger the better? Did Jow Forums lie to me?

well why block more of the picture if it isn't helping you read faster?

>no add subtitle menu
why would you want that over just dragging a subtitle file in?
>no config menu
what is a text editor?
>no right click setting menu
if you want to edit things while a video is playing, use or setup keyboard controls, much nicer than pausing or covering the picture to change shit
>literally nothing
except, y'know, THE VIDEO

bumping this post.
added c/d/scale=ewa_lanczossharp and it's okay with uhd or full hd source, but it''s tearing with 720p. it's all viewed on 4K screen.
should I change something or just download 1080p and higher?

i have one fucking question, im a three year mpv user

how the fuck do i redirect my screenshots to a specific folder

by lurking for 6 years more and reading the fucking manual.

mpv.io/manual/master/#options-screenshot-directory

screenshot-template='path/to/dest/'

thanks

Since ages.
>shitty comparison
literally proved wrong in OP
do you a favor and use dscale=mitchell

Latest build is causing black screen and hardlock on my Vega 64 on Botnet 10.

Womp womp.

>hastebin.com/ogejobotug

hastebin.com/raw/ogejobotug

Works here with novidia on W10

Do you have multiple script-opts lines in your config?

Is there any way to decrease subtitle size without fucking up typesetting and positioning?

>without fucking up typesetting and positioning
not for ass subtitles
mpv.io/manual/master/#options-sub-font-size

sub-ass-override=scale
sub-scale=""

i use mpv out of the box and i have no idea it could be optimized, how do i specc it2my systams

yes and no.
script-opts=osc-timetotal=yes,osc-deadzonesize=1,osc-vidscale=no
that's what I use for osc
also, I do have no-osc option and slightly customized osc.lua in my scripts directory. The other osc-options do work though.

you're not playing a video

>finally something was committed today
>it's macOS shit

Alright, you've got a point. Still, I would like for OSC to stay as big as possible (but not bigger than in fullscreen / large window)

>from 4 months ago

Why does this player desync audio so hard when played in full screen?

Look at the different options here
github.com/mpv-player/mpv/blob/master/player/lua/osc.lua#L10

Read the manual.

>Evaluating mpv's upscaling algorithms

Artoriuz update your shit whit all ewa_lanczos/hanning scalers to see if they compete with spline36.

bruh who the fuck makes a thread about a fucking media player lmao

VLCshill spotted

seething

>sub-scale=""
How many releases will be unwatchable due to that? Should I just forget about trying to resize image subtitles and stick with sub-font-size?

New mpv.conf, what do you think?

Does shoving all of those shaders together like that actually look good? Why not just use FSRCNNX?

Adaptive sharpen and the downscaler perform different funcions. Not sure if using ravu+SSSR is a good choice. And I haven't tried FSRCNNX yet.
It would be nice if some user could call out my bullshit

I thought adaptive sharpen was for upscaling too, so you're really using ravu+SSSR+adaptive sharpen. Am I wrong?

What makes it better than VLC?

user, I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not even sure if I should be using the haasnsoft scaler and the shaders in a mutually exclusive way.
Only the ones who wrote those algorithms can give us these answers, so let's hope haasn will reply.

I personally use ewa_lanczossharp for scale, haasnsoft for cscale, and FSRCNNX 8, but I admit that it is has been years since I ever did any extensive testing on any of these.

How do I queue up multiple audio files in mpv from ranger?

Lua scripting.

Is there any benefit to stacking shaders like FSRCNNX and SSSR/ravu?

You can just select multiple files with space or via visual mode and then open_with mpv.

No idea. Do some testing.

You can programatically add append to the playlist of an already running instance of mpv using the JSON RPC interface.

Alright. What about Adaptive Sharpen? mpcfags are almost always using in together with NGU.

How do I stop player from closing after playing a youtube video ?

--keep-open=yes

I believe SSSR already does what Adaptive Sharpen does. I'm not a 100% sure, however.
keep-open

Thanks anons

MPV is shit and buggy, use vlc.

Just wait for mpv to depend on libplacebo. Then it'll finally surpass vlc.

why haven't you switched to vulkan yet?

github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/6172

I did once that shit configs and I didn't see any difference

>using nvidia

Siberian Animu seems crispier with ewa_lanczos on 1366x768 though?
Mitchell seems smooth but I don't know why we should prefer it over crispier ewa?

Because NGU is blurry

Sharp filters have very noticeable aliasing artifacts when downsampling

oh, nice. thanks.

>oil painting
now say it without crying

disgusting

what sub font is that user? Looks good.

This config is pretty fucking bad. People like you should just use profile=opengl-hq and be done with it. At least don't stack so many shaders on top of each other.

>profile=opengl-hq
Based.

>vo_gpu

one important question: is there a way to get the denoise filter and deblock filter from madvr to work with mpv? they are fucking excellent at what they do. cant even watch sd cartoons without them

selling your soul to madshi's product

this

cant I just import his shaders? the 2 I mentioned are literally the best I could find. I even went so far as to test every denoise and deblock script/plugin for avisynth but none of these came close. plus, they wouldn't even work in realtime anyway

Try FSRCNNX. It has denoise built in.

What's wrong with it?
In case you didn't notice, I am aware of that and posted it to recieve critisism.
Enlighten me, why is it cringe? What do you suggest for scalers and shaders then?

Source Han Sans JP Bold

>hating based haasnsoft

I'm confused.
I use mpv WITH ytdl on both linux and windows. And I don't get one thing: why on windows I got problems with playing some streaming websites/videos but on linux there is no problem. Why is that?

Just use Linux.
