I assume that you changed some taskbar or privacy settings right after first boot, before those tiles were finished installing, unfortunately that's the mistake you made (and I did too)

I don't know if you have to reinstall, but that's what I did

On first boot let those stupid games install until all of them are finished. Then remove them one by one (or use one of those scripts), THEN you can start changing settings

If you don't, you'll probably end up in some weird loop where you can't uninstall an app / remove the tile, you end up with half-broken tiles, if you try to "repair" or install those tiles you'll need the MS Store and log in (because some are age restricted, like that one media player thing, idk wtf)...... Enjoy the future

Win10 has a fuckload of bugs you dont even realize. Try making tue taskbar invisible with 2 monitors and then putting one of the taskbars on your monitors in the middle bar between them. Then watch Win10 spaz out and freeze and need to be restarted every time.

And Microsoft support is some Indian faggot walking you through Windows Settin&s that never ever ever fucking work and when it inevitably fails they just ignore you and say "maybe just reinstall Windows". For migration from older versions, you used to be able to just download the installer, run it, install and your old version license would suffice for use in 10. Apparently it worked even a few months ago, but I wonder if it still works now.

It still works, Just updated 1 Desktop and 4 laptops to 10 via the InPlaceUpdate ISO. All Win7 Pro to win10Pro, worked fine.

If you're not running classic shell with Win10, you're not running Win10 right. It will make your start menu actually usable again, among other (optional) things.

as long as those dx12 games won't use win 10 specific functions (assuming you have working dx12>vulkan wrapper), those should work fine on win 7/8.1 when properly stubbed

Shell out a few bucks for StartIsBack (or pirate it). I've been using it since it was a mod on MyDigitalLife that re-implemented the Start Menu on Windows 8 using a copy of Windows 7's explorer.exe, and its pretty much the best Start Menu replacement I've used. After it went standalone, I'm not entirely sure if its done from scratch, or the dev is still pulling the old Windows start menu from somewhere, but it still replicates the W7 starts menu down to a tee.

Best solution I found to fix is through registry..

Remove previous profile

Shouldn't be a problem anymore. Everytime settings don't save or fuck up, it's because you got a corrupted profile.

if you are not on a LTS branch they will come back after every feature update. clicking check for updates also opts you into beta testing and may or may not delete your files. enjoy.

My uncle came with an ancient laptop with Vista on it just a few days ago. I must say it works quite nicely. Not at all slow except when it's booting, file manager looks proper. The issues with Vista at the time were probably the requirements and the fact it had annoying prompts here and there. But I remember quite clearly a time at which it was working nicely.
