Anyone know who made the Windows 95 icons and UI animations (such as the flashlight)? Was that a design firm or an in-house team?

Also: What would you call this kind of art style?

Only now I'd realized that this is a fleshlight

>I don't have anything to contribute but I want daddy's attention

good question. I believe Microsoft actually hired the Apple girl (Susan Kare) for Windows 3/3.1, but I don't think she stayed after that.

It's a cool style though, I miss it. BeOS had great icons like that :(

you gave me a (You) when no one else would and I will always be indebted to you for that

You should learn to become comfortable without attention.

Yea, but it looked like yellow foamy thing...

bump for interest

It's hard to believe they basically nailed it on the first try. Is there some implementation of it on Linux as a WM? I know you can modify Openbox to get the same result but that takes effort.

No.

No.

Currently only ReactOS is close at replicating it properly, but it's wasted on a meme OS.

This thread is an advertisement for Windows 95 emulator with added botnet. That emulator or whatever its called is made by a kikerat.

Microsoft did a myriad of studies in the 90s about how to make interfaces, mostly about how to make them newbie friendly. They put most of those ideas to the side until it was time for Windows 8 - we saw a glimpse of this in Office 2k7+.

Back in the 90s, most people who used computers could be said to be tech savvies, but now we are minority.
