That's for stolen phones, not encrypted data.
Normally, you can't even wipe the phone - it phones home to iCloud servers which tell the phone that it's stolen (see: daily 'i """found""" a phone and its locked, what do' threads). This allows them to bypass this, but they'd still have to wipe the phone to make it usable.

I use an iphone but those defending apple are being retarded, even if they wipe the phone, they’ll have access to whatever information was backedup to icloud and have the ability to reset the password - meaning they can also restore the phone and probably view your contacts, photos, whatever you backup.

So don’t use icloud, especially not for photos / notes. For contacts, well, maybe because losing phone numbers sucks.

The iCloud support app cannot unlock accounts. It can help someone figure out their account if they know the phone number or device serial number associated with it, and tell you if you have anything backed up. iCloud support app cannot do anything else.

the way this works is that for the icloud unlock to actually happen, the phone has to be factory reset with itunes on a computer. its part of the step. even if you social engineered a reciept you couldnt get at the data. you just successfully stole the phone
