kys for learning a dead language

ok i've taught myself perl now what do I do with it.

learn to read perl

solve some problems using it

what's the migration to it like from ruby? also what can I do with it?

theyre very similar although python has slightly better practices, A LOT more support, a bigger community, the OOP isnt nearly as ass as Ruby, But syntax wise it should be a breeze switching. plus Python and its community arent dead or borderline extinct

Learn a different language because it sticks.

1. Learn how to program
Oh look, you already got that done
2. Learn a backend framework (Ruby on Rails)
That parts pretty hard, good luck!
3. Learn how to make a website
4. Learn how to make a website that uses your RoR backend
5. Make a few websites that have RoR backends
6. Put them in a portfolio
7. Put all that on your resume
8. Apply to RoR and web dev jobs
9. Get hired
???
Profit!

I actually really like Ruby. But my shop uses Python. And so does pretty much every other shop in my industry.

Get AIDS

Go learn python or c# or some other language people actually use.

Make an RPG Maker game.

don't they have their own language?
