>The final wording of dramatic and wide-ranging copyright rules that campaigners say could fundamentally alter the way the internet works has been decided, the EU has announced.
>The new regime has been accused of forcing companies to “ban memes” as it transforms the way people are able to share information online. Companies such as Google have intensely criticised the rules – with YouTube suggesting it could even have to ban Europeans from uploading videos entirely.
>According to lead critic, German MEP Julia Reda, this would mean commercial sites and apps will have to preemptively buy licences for anything a user uploads, a move she describes as “an impossible feat”.
Top fucking kek! Eurosharias are unironically going to need posting loicenses starting next month. And I thought that we had it bad enough here in Australia
Man every country just adds more laws at the same time. Where are the countries removing unnecessary laws?
Andrew Morgan
somewhat this
Tyler Carter
>YouTube suggesting it could even have to ban Europeans from uploading videos entirely
Finally, no more Arabs on youtube.
Jacob Sanchez
hilarious would never hold up in a US court, memes are parody what's the EU going to do next ban comedy?
Nolan Cruz
>what's the EU going to do next ban comedy? Not sure but didn't someone get arrested and persecuted in some Europoor shithole for making a simply nazi joke with his dog?
As much as I may hate living in Argentina, some of the things I hear happening in Europe make me realise that not all is bad.
Evan Fisher
In Germany yes it is literally illegal to say the Holocaust didn't happen or to celebrate Nazis in any way shape or form
Frankly its idiocy, even if you disagree with those ideologies to persecute someone based on thoughts or speech is dangerous to a free society
Soooo what, the death of Web draws slightly closer? Oh well.
William Butler
No, just the Euroweb. The rest of the world will simply isolate that halal shithole and continue unperturbed. I'd be genuinely mad if EU retardation affected the web culture down here in latin america.
Robert Harris
great. europe and their """"people"""" should be gassed.
>EU implements great firewall to curb wrongthink Want to hear something else funny? China is selling their city surveillance tech in EU. All that is missing is a citizen score and we go full china.
Carter Rogers
>citizen score Don't even joke about it
Christopher Reyes
NO NO NO This can't be happening bros. We got too cocky.
The revised article states that >Service providers will try their best to prevent illegal sharing. >If copyright holders don't report unauthorized sharing, then service provider is not liable. This is exactly what is already being done, so the article has no effect whatsoever.
Wyatt Ross
fuck businesses i will continue plastering the net with links and copyrighted anime image macros in fact, i might start doing it more so the nips can squeeze a few extra buckies into their anime industry
It has not been voted on yet, just the actual proposition that's been finalized.
Charles Green
Not precisely. Upload providers and ISPs haven't previously been liable, they only had to cooperate with courts in order to identify malicious users. Now they're liable to fines themselves if they're not making an active effort to prevent sharing of copyrighted material.
Matthew Diaz
>Top fucking kek! Eurosharias are unironically going to need posting loicenses starting next month. Holy cringe
Dylan Rogers
When has that ever mattered? By the time propositions are finished the majority of parliament and commission support them anyway.
Ian Hernandez
Hello, poodiepie
Brandon Adams
>inb4 ISPs and companies implements filters to stop meme wars
Wait and see. It could lead to more small business kicking the bucket because they can't keep up with regulations and the proposed fees are insanely high.
Robert Collins
North Korea ironically is the country with the fewest laws and rules. Granted, they have a few very strict rules, but they don't keep adding new ones. Even marijuana isn't illegal there.
Jaxon Robinson
Yeah, that's the plan. They decide if your business is worth it, and then you either play along with them or bit the dust under regulations. And people will still try, because if you won you would have a monopoly on market.
Anthony Adams
Can they even get it? You don't need laws against stuff that never happens.
Leo Hughes
Mi6 pls go
James White
There are reports of farmers growing it on the side of roads and smoking it as a form of escapism
Adam Wood
>"The Land of the Free" Virgin American vs. The Land of the BASED AND REDPILLED" Chad European Union
Isaac Flores
*vs. The People's Republic of Europe
Alexander Gray
relax, that law is unworkable, and besides which here are what it takes for an EU directive to be enforced 1) The member states must individually decide if they will enforce it - some may some wont, my guess is most will ignore the directive
2) this directive will only be used when governments or the EU want to clutch at straws
3) even if the member states do enforce it, it will only be the same as a DMCA takedown. That is all it amounts to
4) take a photo of your asshole. Licence the photo but sign the licence as belonging to Guy Verhofstadt. He will then be placed in the predicament of owning photos of your ass hole
Jason Price
So, how long until they realize this is Impossible to regulate and ignore it entirely?
Matthew Rogers
Just because it's not written down doesn't mean there are no social rules or even unwritten laws.
Parker Moore
most normal websites don't give a shit If the EU wasn't full of boomers they'd implement a filter so that only ART13-GDPR complient websites could be accessible But they go on a case by case basis and since there are millions of websites on the Internet they're basically just fucked.
Jeremiah Ward
>they'd implement a filter so that only ART13-GDPR complient websites could be accessible That would get them called out on their China tier methods though. This way they're only a little bit China, just so much that the average consumer sheep won't wake up.
Lucas Anderson
>ISPs who are unable to secure their shit even if their life depends on it yeah they totally will implement top notch shit except maybe sweden and uk
Robert Bailey
A meme is just a shared idea. It's impossible to ban.
I'll start selling DVDs full of memes on deep dark web This gonna be so cool!
Hudson Price
nice rneme
Owen Ramirez
you know UK got porn banned where female squirt can be seen?
Camden Bennett
I'd like to see a court where judge looks at squirt porn to decide if it's a squirt or a pee.
Jordan Martin
>strongly criticized by google >a law censoring user-generated online content >opposed by google just to make sure I got this right >censors users >google's against it
yes, I know the only reason they care is because this fucks over every service they run that depends on user-generated content, but this is still fucking hilarious
Colton Rodriguez
>invites porn star to court >asks her if she actually squirted in that video >turns out it was just water from her vagina pumped before squirting scene
Oliver Baker
>be european >get banned
Gavin Long
That law was about producing porn in the UK. I think it was stuff that implies or is harmful to the actors, squirting/fisting/slapping/large insertion kind of things. It was as stupid as the other laws that seem to get passed in uk/EU these days with swathing thought accusations and imposible policing tasks.
Julian Reed
that is because if google users start using these censored things. google will be held responsible. they are protecting themselves not the users
Jason Richardson
China can offer it for free in exchange for "anonymous" data.
Kayden Turner
It was the UK where that happened - some guy taught his girlfriend's pug to raise its paw when he said heil hitler. He ended getting fined over it.
