you seem really knowledgeable in networking, keep it up

buthert of FBI in this tread

Show proof or stfu

tor only works as a honeypot because retards gonna retard
used properly tor is a valuable tool in the toolbox but not a catch-all solution

TOR IS TOOL OF US IMPERIALISM
BYPASS CENSORS
CONSUME HOLLYWOOD

That would be Usenet

Oh man you mean running Tor on Windows xp and looking up shady as shit stuff up got me caught?

It hidden what your searching from your ISP or if your in a second world country, no matter what there is he FBI is gonna get around it.

Speak English you retarded nigger.

No one has ever gotten caught using Tor, except by making stupid rookie mistakes like leaving JS enabled, attaching their real name or exif data to things, etc. Prove me wrong.

Allahuakbar

>The feds don't know what you're doing in Tor
AHAHAHHAHA IMAGINE BEING THIS GULLIBLE

This

The NSA might but you’re only going to find out if you in the midst of planning a huge terrorist attack or you are a Russian/Chinese spy. They won’t give away TOR vulns that would be exposed in court and patched for FBI to put a guy in the slammer for cheese pizza or selling coke on a dark market. They might try to do some parallel construction though.

Parallel construction is the standard. Every time you read about "anonymous tips" in court procedures, it's parallel process operating.

THIS

do use SYSCOIN

Most TOR criminals are caught because they are retards with shit opsec. They caught the silk road admin because he fucking asked for help on stack overflow for his site with his real name. How fucked do you think he felt after posting it?

Yeah he copy pasted code straight from the pirate bay to stackoverflow using his real name on the clear net kek. Then they staged a fight right behind him in the coffee shop he always worked out of and when he left his laptop to help break it up the feds snatched his laptop with everything still logged in.

youtube.com/watch?v=7G1LjQSYM5Q
//bread

Gotta love when he asks if they're any tor developers in the crowd.
Sneaky fuck

He also brought 9 fake IDs with his real fucking face. Not to mention he called a hit on somebody from an undercover cop. But by this point he had so much prison time accumulated that there was no point on giving him conspiracy to murder.

What's the point of a fake ID with someone else's face on it? Do you know how IDs work?

Yeah except the IDs he ordered had different names on each of them. And why would you buy servers for your highly illegal site with your real identity.

Everything Jow Forums likes is a honeypot, that's why ddg and brave are shilled constantly

>and when he left his laptop to help break it up
brilliant, the Chadvulnerability

>AHAHAHHAHA IMAGINE BEING THIS GULLIBLE
international law enforcement's attempts to take down sites are comical at best. to think that the fbi went out of its way to keep javascript exploits secret, yet at the same time they were injecting them into all kinds of poorly maintained sites, including sites they physically took over. absolutely fucking hilarious. you're sure winning the war against those nasty tor users! oh my fucking sides. in orbit!

> be law enforcement
> still can't intercept traffic
> still can't decrypt traffic
> rely 100% on javascript exploits targeting broken versions of firefox to target low hanging fruit and retards that can't opsec
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW LAAAD. TOR IS PWNED: CONFIRMED. TOP KEK.

nah, even the nsa can't intercept and decrypt tor traffic. do any of you fucking faggots know anything about how cryptography or how tor works? may god help your computer illiterate souls.

The alphabay retard was even worse.
>About the time the service first began in December 2014, Cazes used [email protected] the 'From' address in system generated welcome and password reset emails, which he also used for hisLinkedInprofile and his legitimate computer repair business in Canada.[1]
>Cazes used apseudonymto run the site which he had previously used (e.g., in carding and tech forums) since at least 2008, and variously advertised this identity as the "designer", "administrator" and "owner" of the site[1]
>When Cazes was arrested, he was logged into his laptop performing an administrative reboot on an AlphaBay server in direct response to a law-enforcement created artificial system failure; furthermore, encryption was wholly absent on said laptop.[30][1]
>Cazes' laptop reportedly contained an unencrypted personal net worth statement mapping all global assets across multiple jurisdictions, conveniently leading police to complete asset seizure.[1]
>The servers were hosted at a company in Canada directly linked to his person.[1]
>The servers contained multiple constantly open (unencrypted) hot cryptocurrency wallets.[1]
>Cazes' flashy use of proceeds to purchase property, passports and luxury cars and frequent on-line boasting about his financial successes, including posting videos of himself driving luxury cars acquired through illegal proceeds, not only revealed his geographical location, it perforce made denying connection to the service impossible.[1]

Do you know everything the NSA is capable of? The Snowden docs were years ago and I’m sure TOR has been a huge target of the NSA for years. It’s not unreasonable to think that the most powerful signals intellegence agency in the world, in cooperation with the five eyes, has come up with a way to de-anonymize TOR users by this point. I would be more trusting of i2p at this point becuase there haven’t been huge dark markets or too much activity to have the crosshairs of government agencies targeting yet. Its no good for clear net anonymity though unfortunately.

At least he was living the dream for a little while in Thailand. He used arch btw.

>Do you know everything the NSA is capable of?
yes, I do, and they're not capable of decrypting tor traffic, as much as they'd like to.

>It’s not unreasonable
it's not just unreasonable it's completely fucking nonsense. they have achieved nothing in all the years tor has existed. they've developed no capabilities AT ALL to decrypt or intercept traffic, and as already mentioned, rely heavily on javascript exploits for old and buggy tor bundles, timing attacks, and piss poor opsec of their targets.

for organisations that get billions of dollars annually, they're still failing hard in spectacular fashion. all the super computers in the world hasn't helped nsa or law enforcement. imagine spending billions of dollars on your global spying apparatus only to be left with javascript exploits and timing attacks? it's absolutely hilarious.

>It’s not unreasonable to think that the most powerful signals intellegence agency in the world, in cooperation with the five eyes, has come up with a way to de-anonymize TOR users by this point.
That's nothing but assumption.
Also, probably the most significant discovery from the Snowden leaks was the complete lack of magic. The NSA doesn't have access to approaches that are fundamentally better than anybody in the public world, they can just afford to polish their tools more and implement them on a larger scale.

>even the nsa can't intercept and decrypt tor traffic.
Yet. That's what the Utah Data Center is for. Mass interception and storage of any and all internet and telecommunications. Then they can get around to cracking stuff when the time, software and hardware, makes it doable.

>Then they can get around to cracking stuff when the time, software and hardware, makes it doable.
And when will that be?

Nobody knows. So don't act like you do.

Quantum computing

So you’re telling me you’re privy to top secret, special access, US eyes only information about the NSA’s capabilities? Keep in mind that the NSA has no interest in domestic law enforcement operations to catch pedos and drug dealers, and wouldn’t give up exploits (especially zero days) to the FBI to have them exposed in court and patched. I think you have some wishful thinking going on. Even if they can’t decrypt TOR traffic right now, they are logging it all with the hopes to decrypt it later when they can.

Probably a lot sooner than you would think.

Why are cyber criminals so retarded? The guy behind Mirai botnet posted the same programming languages he knew on his linkdin profile and hackerforums account in the exact fucking order. And why the hell would he ddos a major internet infrastructure, that's asking to be caught?

I almost contact3d silk road and asked to become a vendor so I can make real money but I got cold feet. Are you guys actually telling me there are no cons? I hate being a wagecuck

If you have to ask, yes.

Why doesn't everyone go in the about:config and disable javascript?
Also whats a timing attack?

See:

>Why doesn't everyone go in the about:config and disable javascript?
Because most fags who think that because they have tor, they are immune to layer 7 attacks.
>whats a timing attack?

>Shit on in this thread so let me make another one pretending like I know what I'm talking about as if I have some kind of inside info into the working of Federal agencies.

Did you mean, what is a sidechannel?

So why is the silk road kinds dead if Tor makes it impossible to get caught. I browse for fun and I'd think if it was so easy there would be many more vendors and many more customers

Did you not read any reply in the thread?

Computers might not be magic, but I can use actual magic to break AES.

/thread

Has nothing to do with magic, it has to do with undisclosed zero day vulnerabilities that major nation state agencies can figure out with their endless resources.

Sorry, where is the mention for why silk road is dead? I missed it.

In short it was an opsec failure. Code from the Silk Road website was posted onto stackexchange on the clear net with the real name and account of dread pirate roberts.

See

Based and torpilled

So no information on why the current up and running silk road has shit traffic even though it's easy as fuck to find and seems easy to use. Are you trying to say they keep getting caught doing dumb shit?

Yes.

Or by correlation, if they can prove only one computer at one time in one place connected to the tor network, they may not know exactly what data you sent but they can know through correlation who connected when and where

Wow then most silk road users get caught cuz that shit is fucking dead

I haven’t messed around on the dark web in a while, is there really not a single dark market these days with a decent amount of users/traffic? I remember alpha bay was pretty big and kind of took off where the original Silk Road ended, but that owner was an idiot who got caught for stupid reasons as well. Also possibly a fall guy. I think dread pirate Roberts May have been a fall guy as well.

The users usually get caught from repeat buying.

There aren't many vendors. Hardly any variety in drugs at all.

I browse silk road (3) but to be honest never visited anywhere else so I guess there are much busier markets.

Jow Forums is.

Because all the big boy drug markets are invite only.

The only people I dealt with in real life used silk road. But sounds like you really know what you're talking about.

Also that logic would indicate silk road would have high traffic

You don't need high traffic when all of your customers buy by the pound.

You do if you want more money and you need lots of vendors for there to be lots of different drugs and options

You have no idea how powerful drug markets work do you?

It is common sense

Of course it's possible, but do you have any evidence of this ever actually happening?

You're retarded, don't reply to me again.

kek

Here in romania they had at a trial 300 pages of what some dude did on Tor just to order some tree bark with DMT

I bought some amphetamine from Super Speed Bros, and it came to me every time without fault.

Thanks goys! You sure powered me up for the year!

and nothing of value was garnered

in fact NOW tor is main way to buy and sell non legal things
SYSCOIN is 2nd main way

>mfw ate as much cheese pizza as I wanted with Freenet

How did they catch him? I'm guessing something to do with email or the delivery service. The odds that he was caught due to a flaw in tor are approximately zero.

He used windows mang

Source for this whole story?

stop looking at child porn you sick pedo fuck

>hit

this was actually disproven and dismissed without prejudice. free ross

IIRC there is an op called ONIONBREATH which sets up a fuck ton of entry and exit nodes between the 5 eyes orgs and they share data. that can allow them to identify or get a step closer to 80% of tor users

>Use VPN -> Connect to tor
>Disable JS
>Don't upload or post anything that can be tied to your real identity
>Don't use clearnet while simulatenously on tor

>>Use VPN -> Connect to tor
>>Disable JS
>>Don't upload or post anything that can be tied to your real identity
>>Don't use clearnet while simulatenously on tor
VPN is like logging service and waste of money

>Use tor
>Also, use a vpn

Get a load of this guy.

the playpen guys got caught because they we're using an older edition of tor, on windows, while playpen was fully controlled by the FBI and the feds sent them a windows 0day AND then they refused to prosecute a bunch of pedos because they didn't want to give away their security tech at trial

in conclusion, tor is a """honeypot""" if you're a 70 year old boomer trying to download pizza onto your window 95 box.

*an older edition of TBB and by proxy probably tor itself idk

Lots of it

What is syscoin never heard of it

When? As far as I’m aware freenet is completely compromised and not safe.

just change the deffault port number

>IIRC there is an op called ONIONBREATH which sets up a fuck ton of entry and exit nodes between the 5 eyes orgs and they share data. that can allow them to identify or get a step closer to 80% of tor users

This is why TOR needs a lot more people running their own exit nodes, but not a lot of people will do it becuase it’s a huge pain in the ass compared to running a relay.

There’s court documents out there that show law enforcement run freenet nodes and can catch people who connect to them doing things they shouldn’t be. Just look up the case of the guy who won’t give up his encryption passwords and is locked in prison indefinitely until he will, and there’s also court documents from Canada from someone who got caught using freenet. I’m not sure just changing default port would be enough, but admittedly I don’t know much at all about freenet.
