Thy are way too big. What would be a nice and cheap smartphone with dual-band 802.11 while not being a bloody paddle? even the a1 is a bit too much for me, since i am used to 4.5". CZE
Jordan Brown
Where's my sub-$1000 stylus, damn it.
Cooper Sullivan
XZ1 Compact? It's been on sale 200€ new so you should be able to find it cheap used.
Brayden Thompson
Oh and ... i will be flashing a custom ROM on it, likely Lineage. XZ1 is unsupported afaik.
transitioning from iphone 8 plus to galaxy note 9. i'm finally going to awaken my latent faglord shitpost potential
Zachary Moore
Paranoid Android supports it, PA>LOS
Mason Barnes
Ok guys I am looking for a new smartphone. I live in burgerland (USA) and I am currently on straight talk/tmobile I believe. My budget is 300 USD, it seems I cannot find a phone that has NFC for that price range (my axon 7 has it though when I bought it couple of years ago) but it wont be a big deal, I looked at some phones, but I am still undecided.
I did read up that there's a motorola G7 coming out, but it seems people are half and half about motorola in general.
I will be do light gaming >clash of clans >hearthstone >pokemon go and other games but there mostly puzzle ones, and not intense on graphics.
Would be nice if it had a decent community behind it for rooting especially so I can play pokemon go on a rooted phone, not to gps spoof, I do android programming once in a while, and having physical rooted phone to test my apps would be beneficial.
What's hone it's the ThinkPad of the phones? >good community support >easy to fix >low price >can be used for a long time
Xavier Nelson
non-ironically Pocophone
Isaac Smith
good community support... until the pajeets run elsewhere in
Adam Carter
Has anyone here had issues with their Droid Turbo rebooting itself in the middle of use for seemingly no reason? This has happened to me recently and I'm not sure what's causing it
Blake Richardson
don't want to pay for a flagman but all cheap and midrange phones have annoying shit like >no notification light >no nfc >shit haptic and vibration >bezels or chin or stupid brand logo or just plain ugly >shit software >shit camera >shit mono speaker >shit display i either go for something super cheap like one of the redmis or straight up buy a pixel/iphone/samshit, because everything inbetween will make me feel like a faggot. It also doesn't help, that midrange devices compromise on all these things, just so they can put a top gayming fagdragon cpu, so kids can play cucknite for "cheap".
also i don't want to buy a bezel phone in 2019, but would also prefer to have a phone which can be used in one hand.
currently the best ive come up with is oneplus 6, and it's still not quite good enough (size, haptic, speakers, notch). 6T has better notch, but no notification light, and garbage fingerprint scanner
my last smartphone was nexus 5, which broke two years ago and ive been using nokia e72 + ipad since then.
You're going to have to post quite a few sources for all these complaints. You also need to stop associating with people who make you feel bad for not indulging in blatant consumerism and it seems that you're aware of that. Last thing - how are bezels bad? Do you enjoy having to juggle your phone in your hand to not have accidental touches every few seconds?
Brandon Ward
...and apparently the best ultimate option would be iphone XS. But the price is retarded, and i would also prefer an android so i can debug apps for free
Thomas Russell
Buy a last generation flagship.
Samuel Ortiz
>Do you enjoy having to juggle your phone in your hand to not have accidental touches every few seconds? is that a thing? Don't they have some kind of software dead zone to prevent this?
they have bezels >stop associating with people who make you feel bad i feel bad because the midrange phones make me think >oh man, i wish the speakers were better >oh man, i wish the haptic feedback was better >etc "premium" phones have it solved, and in cheap phones i just don't care, since i only payed $100-150 for it
Jason Harris
To both of you, if you hold your phone that your hand touches anything but the back and a bit of the side then you're doing it wrong and you should get a dumbphone.
Blake Diaz
so just resting it on a palm/fingers without gripping?
what if someone pushes you? what if you want to use it upside down while lying in bed/on a couch?
Leo Ross
so basically impossible to use with a single hand unless you're in the 99th percentile of hand sizes... retarded zoomers, ho!
Austin Perry
what is good list of "previous flagship" that is cheaper now and worth getting than current midrange? Is lg g6 one of them?
Carson Brooks
Cheap phones have cheap hardware and less features, wowie! I fucking hate poorfags. You want NFC, stereo speakers, OLED display and ebin cameras? Get the S9+ or something. God damn
Josiah Wood
can someone fix the chinkpone recommendation? asus zenfone max pro m1 is the same price with redmi note 5 pro. the new asus zenfone max pro m2 with the sd660 is the right one. what's with this long name.
Eli Kelly
>they have bezels Galaxy Note8/S8, Pixel 2 XL, LG G6/V30, Huawei Mate 10 Pro all have pretty small bezels with +80% screen to body ratio.
>oh man, i wish the speakers were better All smartphone speakers are garbage period, so, why care that much? Just user ViPER4Android to improve the performance. >oh man, i wish the haptic feedback was better Even most reviewers don't care about this, so, why would you? It's really not that significant. >"premium" phones have it solved They also have a couple things solved as well too - like as much storage as manufacturer chose you should have (meaning no micro SD card slots) and no headphone jacks, along with almost always sub 3500 mAh batteries.
Anthony Gomez
Mi a1, one of the most popular Xiaomi devices, right there with Pocophone You can easily open it by unscrewing the two screws at the bottom of the device, so you can easily replace the battery (Poco takes way more effort) All metal, gorilla glass, dual camera with 2x telephoto lens (unlike the meme dept sensor on Poco), which offers amazing results with Gcam Easily replaceable screen, battery are the biggest pros in my opinion, you can find batteries all over the web (but I would look at reviews before buying:)) I ve been having it for over 7 months now, its an amazing device, Ilism
Jacob Edwards
There's no reason to get a previous gen flagship when Pocophone exists with current gen flagship specs at midrange prices
Henry Lee
top and bottom bezels though...
Oliver Williams
>Cheap phones have cheap hardware Almost no single piece of smartphone hardware exceeds $70, so this point isn't really valid. gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s9_costs_379_build-news-30147.php >and less features This has ironically turned around. Most flagships lack a micro SD card slot and 3.5mm audio jacks at this point, as well as superior battery life to midrange phones. It's not black and white.
Xavier Moore
>top and bottom bezels though You rather have a notch or a display hole?
Joshua Allen
$80*
Lucas Taylor
Normally gripping on the sides, you shouldn't touch the front. Also, if you have tiny girly hands then you should rather jerk my dick instead of using normal sized phones.
Christian Nguyen
Are Samsung Notes/Galaxies as "secure" as iPhones.. As in phone is useless if stolen and there's no way to access photos/images on the phone without a password.
Logan Rivera
Pocos don't work in the US and they come with botnet chink ROM's. Maybe if they came with Android One..
Angel Ward
the AI assisted settings are wonderful in Pie especially the app suggestion in the task switcher, you can even access the app drower by swiping up from the bottom. The new gesture buttons are a toss up though, and you don't have to use them if you don't want to. The biggest gripes I have so far about it is that few brands support the built in theme engine and app suggestions only work in the Nexus Launcher as far as I know. If anyone knows one that actually supports it let me know. The very best feature is the call screening but that hasn't gotten out to non pixel phones yet. I bet there are some ROMs with it. I have tiny girly hands, Its a huge problem for me. super true, just about any phone can have a SD 835 and up for a long time
Kayden Harris
And how is Android One better at all? Two years of promised updates, nothing out of the ordinary. Also: >what are custom ROMs
Benjamin Fisher
My Z5 Compact fell off a bridge because i'm dum. Are there any
Jump off of the same bridge if you're actually serious with this post and if you're actually considering Apple because of this - "than being forced to use googleshit".
Aiden Scott
>being so dumb he drops his phone off of a bridge >might as well go appleshit You should, with those mental capabilities.
Anthony Brown
Hence why i'm asking for lineageos support you cunts I don't want appleshit/googleshit but if i had to choose between those two i'd pick the SE.
Owen Bell
Did they port over the Mi Mix 3 camera improvements to Mi Mix 2s yet?
Angel Butler
Just kill yourself man Buy the XZ1C, what's wrong with you?
Josiah Diaz
>don't want either, both are shit >need lineageOS support >i'll pick a fucking iPhone SE in 2018. Why? And what's wrong with you?
Aiden Ramirez
Well, at least two hours passed since the last thread, so yeah, possibly.
Evan Cooper
2019.*
Isaac Howard
>XZ1C - 129mm GIVE ME ONE GOOD FUCKING REASON WHY YOU CONSIDERED A SHITPHONE SE OVER THE XZ1C OR I'LL RAPE YOUR ASS
Buy the Mi Mix 3 if that is the priority, smallest bezels on the market and works in the US. From my experience even more secure, it's probably the biggest advantage of their software.
Josiah Powell
Can someone explain the flagship good camera meme I have an s9 which Is supposed to have an ebin camera but when I use it it does not feel crazy good, just a good camera for a smart phone, when zoomed in everything looks like shit, regularly using it doesn't look anything special
Isaac Perry
If you have a Samsung device with good custom ROM support and latest security patches, you are definitely secure.
Ian Ortiz
Being yuropoor. The entire line will flop even harder than the S9 did here.
Julian Davis
>camera in the screen >still has thick bezel Why.
Oliver Evans
Just use stock nigger, from what I remember Xperia UI was pretty good, not bloated like Samshit.
Jacob Sanchez
S9 didn't flop though what are you talking about p
Christian Carter
S10e is Samsung's iPhone XR competitor, so they copied the thicc bezels
Ryder Campbell
If you're an absolute tasteless waste of space, it's a good buy for the rest of us, a hole in the corner is just disgusting. Look at the chin, a bezel that thick on top could easily accommodate the camera, like the XZ4 does. There is 0 reason to have a hole there apart from Samsung trying out a new gimmick since the S9 sales weren't great. This is IRREFUTABLE
Almost every phone these days can take a great looking photo in average conditions. The difference is when you don't have enough light, flagships will still take a decent, usable shot where cheaper phones will have noticeable noise or "watercolour" effect. Possibly the biggest difference is in video capture quality, though. As we reach peak sensor performance, OIS and good sensors will trickle down into the midrange, the latter already happening. At that point flagships will attempt to maintain the gap by introducing better zoom via periscopes or something similar.
Camden Long
id rather not have useless wasted space, yes
Leo Collins
All smartphone photos look trash when you zoom in the S9 pics have better colors and capture more detail than pics taken from, say, an OP6T. You're just a retard who doesn't know what he's got.
Matthew Long
It's nitpicking, there's already shitloads of real estate on the screen. Goddamn zoomer, what's wrong with you?
Jeremiah Reyes
But you'd rather have a permanenet black dot on your screen? And bezels are not useless, you don't want accidental touches do you?
Parker Powell
Samshit cameras have always been overhyped, even by the shills in these threads. Should have got a Pixel 3 or an iPhone XS if you wanted a good camera.
>black dot on your screen? you prefer a giant screen-wide black bar instead?
Gabriel Howard
Bezels today are minimal and especially so on Samsung devices and they do serve a purpose. What's not to understand? You're also operating 6"+ displays most likely and you'd prefer your phone having a permanent black dot like your little brother scribbled on while you weren't looking? I just can't understand it.
Brandon Brooks
It's nostalgia (they got used to Android stock, phones used to come with bloatware that filled all the storage and made the phone run slow) and ignorance (these boomers probably mistake the different launchers from the OS)
Gavin Russell
Not him but yes, I'd rather have the notch and I see no problem with a small bezel like the S9 has. What irks me about the hole is that you have a part of the screen above it that is entirely wasted for no reason other than aesthetics (lol), the hole could have been just as easily pushed upwards to form a tiny notch. And this would all be somewhat fine had we not seen at least 3 different legit ways to remove the notch entirely in 2018, instead of coping like this.
Grayson Johnson
W-what?
Samuel Robinson
Best way to transfer files from my phone to my PC? MTP is absolute garbage. I was thinking of maybe going for FTP instead.
Jaxon Jones
What about copy pasting in explorer?
Caleb Cruz
KDEConnect if you're on Linux.
Isaac Lee
the stinky chinky off AliExpress still hasn't sent my phone and won't reply to my messages should I open a dispute or wait a little longer cause of Chinese new year
My Redmi Note 4 was stolen lately and I loved it to bits. What would be the current equivalent in a similar price range?
Wyatt White
I got a S7 but how do I turn the annoying things into actually useful stuff?
The samsung experience stuff looks awful for example, there's amazing amounts of bloatware, the game center button is literally useless and would be infinitely better if it was just a simple screenshot button and sometimes it randomly captures my screen if I want to wipe the screen?
Let me repeat: >MTP is absolute garbage. In the old days it used to be possible to just access your SD card as if it was directly connected to your PC, but now you have to go through the MTP if you want to transfer any file through a cable.
They made a new site for chinkshit that searches multiple stores, jesus christ how based kissmyki.com/
Camden Gutierrez
What exactly is that? I can still connect my phone to a pc, open the directories on the phone and copy paste the files in both direction. Is this an apple bullshit?
Eli Mitchell
Is it supported on Vodafone in Ireland? Better question would be is there a good site to check carrier compatibility?
Currently only the chinese Redmi Note 7 is available, you'll have to wait for the Global version if you want B20 support... or just get a Redmi Note 5 / 6 Pro.
Jonathan Powell
Can you do it in the same way you can with a USB flash drive? With a USB flash drive you can access the file system directly. With an android phone, you have to use MTP to read or write files. MTP is garbage. It's just shit.
Logan Russell
yeah, and 6 months after Note 10, Galaxy S11.
Matthew Brown
??? Yes? You open the phone "drive", all the directories and files are there. I don't understand.
Logan Wood
So is lineage OS dead? What is the the current developed OS, Pixel Experience?
>Didn't notice it was in dollars Guess I'm retarded. Also can the 100€ discout code for the new users be used too? And is 6GB Pocophone or should I aim for the 8GB?
Camden Rivera
>So is lineage OS dead? Why would it be? >What is the the current developed OS, Pixel Experience? There are very likely hundreds of it, just aim for a device which has official support or whatever custom ROM is available and you'll be fine.
Carter Roberts
>Also can the 100€ discout code for the new users be used too? What are you referring to, the "get $100 of coupons" on the Banggood front page? it's not a $100 off coupon, it's $100 worth of coupons, pic related. Doesn't stack with the Kimovil coupon.
