Well, he dated the accelerator at 1995 at which point the LC III was two years old and already out of production for nearly a year by then, though I guess there were some architecturally similar LCs and Performas still around running on 33 MHz '030s that were still slower, but only at the very lowest end at that point, everything else was a minimum 68LC040.
Those were UK prices *in* 1995, just because it wasn't in production anymore didn't mean it wasn't on sale in the UK

Macs and PCs were outrageously expensive in the UK right up to the mid-late 90s.

I had an A1200 that I slowly upgraded over the years, by about 1997 I had it in a tower case with a 68040 and a graphics card and it did a pretty great job of emulating a Mac.

what i was allowed near under supervision as a child, so obviously it's the best.

The Commodore A590 was a hard drive controller for the Amiga 500, like all the third party equivalents it goes in the expansion port on the left side.

it doesn't matter if it was all you could afford and it did what you wanted to do, it was still a cheap shitty computer for people who couldn't afford a "real" one, which yes, were the majority of people, who made do with what they could and had fun with it.

not really, by then most workstations were using the fully 32 bit 68020, with entry level systems using the 68010 and the highest end soon to be using the 68030. the 68000 was fucking old, man, still good, but far from top of the line.
